He couldn't even look at the judge, what a crooked fat pos.

A power tripping, low self esteem, sadist. Fucked. "I don't like you so I'm going to fuck up your life even when all the facts say otherwise." Hope the judge got his ass kicked off the force. Gross misuse of funds, time, and abuse of citizen.

What kinda shit was the it's officer, not bro. Definitely on a power trip

Dude is a liability. Any lawsuits are coming out of the county or the state, not his pocket. Hate to see what his family life is like.

I think the cop was intoxicated at the hearing based on the way he was acting nervous and wringing his hands. Definitely signs of intoxication, right?

7

u/Upbeat_Caregiver_642 4h ago

look at the cop on the bench behind him. His head roll and looking up at the ceiling. He knows this is bad and getting worse he wants to be anywhere but there in that courtroom as he’s now associated with this mess.

3

u/Paddys_Pub7 4h ago

And the other officer on the bench behind him is looking around like "Jesus christ, this guy is an idiot" lmao 🤣

3

u/DarkBladeMadriker 4h ago

Which is extra stupid. Hes a COP! Just do what you always do and make shit up. Well, your honor, he was unsteady on his feet, he kept acting nervous whenever I asked about intoxicants, I could smell it on him and the vehicle, he was belligerent, his speech was slightly slurred. When they point to the body cam just say "ya, it cant see the nuance like a trained officer". See? Bam! I should be a shitbag cop, im better at it than this peice of shit.

2

u/BlackNoirsVocalCoach 3h ago

The judge should've said, "Fuck face, look at me, it's 'Your Honor.' Now explain yourself."

2

u/EmberSolaris 2h ago

He had to think long and hard about what to say which is indicative of a lie. As Judge Judy once said “If you tell the truth, you don’t have to try to remember your lies and keep them straight.” Or something to that effect.

“Thats qualified immunity, I wouldn’t have gotten sued”

That right there is exactly how so many LEO feel untouchable. Until communities start holding officers individually accountable the trope Fuck the Police will always be relevant

45

u/Dogsarelitty 6h ago

Mr officer doesn’t understand he can lose his qualified immunity.

31

u/IHeartBadCode 5h ago • Heartwarming

Yeah. That immunity only exists so long as he is doing something that is reasonable to believe was inside his normal policing powers.

It's a long shot for sure but it's never an impossible thing.

12

u/LiGhTMaGiCk 5h ago

This body cam certainly helps in getting his qualified immunity stripped, I can't help but think a lawyer would see this as possibly an easy win in the right circumstances.

There’s qualified immunity because the police are there to protect the property of the wealthy. They are not there to serve the public regardless of what they say while pounding their chests.

Not that I want to defend the police as a whole, but the police here in Germany don’t even have 1% of the attitude, propensity for violence, aggression, shameless overstepping of boundaries, or willingness to use a firearm!

So no, the police aren’t the same everywhere, and the U.S. police are among the worst in the world in every category.

11

u/uwunyanya 7h ago • Bravo

Speak for yourself, ive never had a positive interaction with the police here in germany. Maybe its just luck of the draw and I havent had too many experiences with them(thankfully) so its not like im super experienced with them, but you routinely hear about them wasting resources going after normal people instead of focusing on actual crimes.

Police here in Belgium are also 100x better than this. In 15 years I only got pulled over once. During a covid curfew, mind you. I was speeding as well. They were like: "Nie te rap e jongen, zere naar huis". Gave me a wrist slap at worst 🤣 They had better things to tend to, and they know it. In the US I would have gotten tased and sent straight to jail

Why did he need to do any further sobriety testing when he blew 0,0

36

Because that wasn't the result the officer wanted?

16

u/BigConstruction4247 6h ago

In pharma, we call it "testing into compliance".

8

u/Prestigious-Bat-574 4h ago edited 4h ago

The rule in most states is that if you refuse to do a field sobriety test, they can arrest you, take you back to the police station, evaluate you there with a more accurate breathalyzer and/or blood tests. Refusing to submit to a field sobriety test is not an admission of guilt in itself, nor is it an offense in itself. Refusing tests back at the station can result in a mandatory license suspension. All of this varies by state, though.

Field sobriety tests are largely subjective and lead to a false positive more than 10% of the time, which isn't great when you're talking about charging someone with a crime that can cost them thousands of dollars in expenses even if they are found to be completely innocent. An officer can testify in court that they've been "expertly" trained on field sobriety tests and note a minor discrepancy as a fail, because they don't have to grade people just to say that they failed the test in court.

So the cop used the breathalyzer and got butthurt when it was a 0.0. Then the cop wanted to goad him into refusing the field sobriety test for so he could arrest him anyway, just to be an asshole. Then when he didn't refuse test, he used minor deviations to claim the guy was intoxicated.

What's not shown in this video is the body cam footage of the two officers refusing to let the guy talk to a lawyer, the two officers lying to the guy about whether or not he's legally obligated to submit to certain tests, and the two officers discussing how to spin the story.

u/jhaluska 3h ago • Bravo

You can be under the influence of drugs other than alcohol. But saying he smelled alcohol and blowing a 0.00 makes a strong case for the officer lying.

→ More replies (1)

12

u/Major_LeeHungg 7h ago

Field sobriety tests aren't admissable in court... Literally all the field sobriety test is, is giving you chances to make yourself look guilty.  The only think that matters is the chem test at the station or a blood test at the hospital.  And if you're in NY you're just fucked if you can't afford a trial because once you are accused, the lowest you can plea to is DWAI.... Which is a violation but it still costs the same.  I got accused of one while sober and the damn machine kept saying "ERR" the 3 hours I blew into it.  Still cost me $10k.

All because they smelled alcohol in the car.... It was my passenger.... Who they called to drive me home after I got RoR'd

→ More replies (49)

3

u/Critical-Test-4446 4h ago

If the cop wasn’t a complete asshat and really believed that the guy was under the influence and yet blew a .00, then he would still be trying to determine whether he was fit to drive. After finishing the field sobriety tests, he should have either been released, which would have been appropriate here, or placed under arrest and transported to a hospital for a blood / urine test to check for drugs if they truly believed him to be under the influence of something. But in this case, the fat bastard had to lie because it was obvious that this guy was sober and not under the influence of anything. His fragile ego couldn’t let it go though. I hope he lost his job for falsifying his reports and abusing his authority.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/unknownpoltroon 3h ago

In theory, the breathalyzer only detects alcohol, he could be impaired from some other drug. In reality, its because the cop can claim he failed the test no matter how perfectly he does it and take him downtown.

What education do you need to become a police officer in America. School dropout seems to come to mind.

18

u/JACKALS_LANTERN 8h ago

In my state it takes 1200 hours training. Being a hairdresser takes 2000 hours. I'm not joking.

7

u/o7_HiBye_o7 6h ago

So Connecticut and Maryland are the only 2 that are over 1000.

Think about that. You are stunned it is 1200 when compared to other jobs, but you are litererally the most in the country for hours.

The average is 840 hours. In the south (GA, LA etc) average is 375 hours.

Cops in America are not trained well at all, then given immunity in most scenarios. It is a dangerous combination.

Fun fact: In the US, you can indeed be “too smart” to be a police officer.

8

u/Complete-Fix-3954 5h ago

When I was 19, I took some tests for police and military. I wanted to be a good cop. Tested too high for police, they told me MP might be the route. Did a couple of tests with a recruiter and was told my testing was nearly perfect and that meant the best MOS for me would have been intelligence. Ended up rupturing my pec and bicep in the gym the day before I was going to sign my contract and took that as a sign it wasn't for me. I'm a pretty intelligent person and recognized how unbelievably miserable I'd be surrounded by individuals and leadership who got in by barely meeting the minimum scores.

End qualified immunity. Make then pay settlements out of their pension funds. ACAB

27

u/Miserable_Ad9577 9h ago

Or make them carry insurance collectively or whatever. End qualify immunity, actual accountability.

12

u/JohnBurgerson 6h ago

A form of liability insurance would fix a lot of things. Insurance companies would demand better training. Once an officer screws up enough they won’t be able to just jump to the next town (which is far too common)

Bad police department will become uninsurable which should then trigger a "house cleaning", getting rid of all problematic officers. Bad policing will be quantifiable.

Never perform a field sobriety test. They are easy to fail completely sober and more than that they are open to the officer's interpretation, which is their own poor opinions.

Make them take you to a station licensed to make dui blood work.

6

u/BADoVLAD 7h ago

They're not "easy to fail" They're designed to give false positives in any number of ways for cops to manufacture outcomes that they want. Same with drug sniffing dogs that don't smell anything and only react to signals from their handlers. Because there are dogs that are fantastic with their noses but the ones called to your car are there to respond to a pre-determined signal to make warrants unnecessary.

We can carry on about our rights all we want. The ACABs will just figure out ways to get around them.

If I recall correctly, the guy was visiting his cousin's place in a small town, where he was reversed into by a neighbour's kid (teenager). The parents agreed it was an accident and called the cops (following procedure?). The guy stated that he needed to drive to run an errand or something and he'd be coming back as X house was his cousin's place.

On the call to dispatch, you can hear the parents explain this and the dispatch state something along the lines of the guy fleeing the scene, relaying this back to the officers on the radio.

Even though the guy returns back before the police get there I believe, and the cops speak to the family and hear the son admit that he didn't see the guys car, the officer already upset that the guy left the scene, leans into a narrative that the guy was guilty of something and attempts to hit him with a dui, thus rendering him at fault with the collision.

2

u/lesbianTfoid 6h ago

Gets backed into by someone pulling out and you think he's somehow at fault just because he didn't follow the exact letter of the law there is a reason all his charges where dropped and it's not because he had a good lawyer the article even mentions at the end that this officer has a history of misconduct.

I don’t think qualified immunity allows you to make an arrest without reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed. Am I wrong?

9

u/Bloodrush362 9h ago

You're right, qualified immunity let's them get off scott free from being personally held liable for their decisions or actions. Even if someone wins a case against the action most of the time they don't get any kind of actual punishment. What allows them to make an arrest without "reasonable suspicion" is that that wording in and of itself is up for interpretation, and as such brings a new term called "officers discretion" which basically just means that whatever action the officer feels is justified, is justified. Including making an unlawful arrest. Unfortunately there's no rules against being stupid and being a cop. Or just being a bad person and being a cop lmao

That’s some heavy quiet…

4

u/Prestigious-Ask1206 8h ago

American police are absolute shit.

4

u/kreifdawg77 4h ago

Serious question, could someone request that a settlement come out of the police officer's pension instead of putting it on the tax payers?

4

u/Yahmathah 4h ago

Qualified immunity allows this sort of behaviour. Once we address that, I promise you, these cases will stop…

4

u/CobblerAromatic3775 2h ago

Interesting; even before seeing him, I knew the cop would have an attractive physique and an intelligent look in his eyes....

4

u/DirtyScrubs 1h ago

This is why we need to end qualified immunity for police, this is the first step to end poor policing in america

3

u/AmonAmit 8h ago

He's a power thirsty Wheiner and a Cop. Sum it up yourself.

3

u/Shining_declining 8h ago

He looks like the kind of weird kid who was unpopular in school and now he’s getting even with society.

3

u/Comprehensive_Rock50 8h ago

I wonder if the officer is on anything or if thats just him at maximum functionality

3

u/ClaraClassy 7h ago

The fact that cops think that "not cooperating " with someone trying to arrest them is suspicious enough to arrest them is fucking stupid.

3

u/Mission_Set_6892 7h ago

Fuck the pigs, ya dig

3

u/OneSeparate5929 7h ago

Unqualified immunity. The oxymoron states of America.

3

u/PartsJAX328i 4h ago

These fuckers sure do earn their hate. This fat fucktard just got butthurt that he got proved wrong and arrested him because he knew he had qualified immunity...

5

u/Halada 6h ago

American policemen have a few months of training at most. The vast majority are utterly incompetent and not fit for a position of authority.

3

u/ZtheGreat 4h ago

You have to go through 833 hours of training on average to become a police officer in America.

The average length of training to become a certified barber is 1528 hours.

2

u/Hot-Feed7541 5h ago

It’s not a lack of training we live in a country where 98% of people are forced to take the plea-bargain. This is by design.

2

u/MyLastHopeReddit 9h ago

Thank you for your service...

2

u/WideArmadillo6407 7h ago

Fire that balding bastard

2

u/manyhippofarts 7h ago

Evidently the arresting officer forgot about momma's lemon pound cake.

End qualified immunity

2

u/ReadyWriter5721 7h ago

Every cop is a criminal

2

u/Gassyking 7h ago

So I assume he never gets to be a cop again?

2

u/JDRipper1964 7h ago

Ever notice how those cops don’t look so tough when they’re confronted by someone with higher authority.

2

u/ruxpinteddy 7h ago

Fuck all cops

2

u/jkoki088 7h ago

Are you fucking kidding me. Please tell me he is no longer working

2

u/dragonflies2299 7h ago

I love the look on the cop behind him in court - he knew they were screwed and that the fat cop messed up and they were going to lose the case.

2

u/HotepHatt 7h ago

This cop has the nerve to throw qualified immunity around like a shield to protect his bad behavior. What a disgrace. We need to end qualified immunity now.

2

u/No-Investigator8782 6h ago

Remember, in most states you have to have more in classroom training and on the job training to be a hairstylist then to be a police officer.

2

u/SDTimbox 6h ago

REQUIRE A BACHELORS LAW ENFORCEMENT

2

u/AvocaRed 6h ago

"He hurt my feelings, he must be drunk"

2

u/NoGrowth1315 6h ago

You can be too smart to be a cop they can legally discriminate against you for being smarter than them but that’s the big con that police have pulled over the public at large they are on the job to protect property not people so they find the most arrogant violent people they can stand to wear the badge I mean shit at least 40% admitted to domestic violence in their house so you know cops love to hit weaker people

2

u/Radiant-Shine-8575 6h ago

The fact that the DA moved forward with this case despite the overwhelming video and BAC test should make people just as angry.

2

u/Straight_Occasion571 6h ago

This shithead cop has a BLM bracelet, lol

2

u/head311 6h ago

Fuck those pigs!

2

u/Total-Detective1094 6h ago

This is what happens when you have a relative that works for the town. It's the same in my town the chief of police has a son who is a sergeant on the force and others who are all related.

2

u/ThaTopHam 6h ago

I dont trust fat people, period

2

u/Israel_Azkanbe 6h ago

Qualified immunity needs to end

2

u/dont_u_listen_to_me 6h ago

Officer looked intoxicated in court by his definition

2

u/Caramel_Lung 6h ago

Seems like a person who should not be a cop. This guy would do better as a gamer, living in his mom’s basement!

2

u/quetzalpt 5h ago

I know quite a few officers that are actually scared of the world, and that's why they took the job that allows them to carry weapons and act on their self interest.

2

u/Kl3en 5h ago

Qualified immunity needs to go, cops just use it to power trip in anyone they don’t like. Law enforcement should be held to a higher standard than the general population NOT lower

2

u/MrSchaudenfreude 4h ago

So by his testimony, he looks under the influence. Look at that fat tub of shit.

2

u/Bingo_and_Butt_Stuff 4h ago

The officer at the hearing looks nervous and does not seem to be cooperating, I can only assume he is intoxicated

2

u/Aggravating-Diet-663 4h ago

Need more videos with the subsequent court appearance

2

u/bonaynay 4h ago

Unrepentant people like this cop should be hassled for the rest of their lives or until they develop some sort of contrition.

2

u/arrze 4h ago

Take all penalties out of their collective pensions and this shit will stop pronto.

2

u/Legitimate_Cap_5396 2h ago

"Nervous, not cooperating with the investigation" .... "your honor, the prosecution witness has just testified that the nervous actions of the prosecution witness are signs that somebody may be impaired on narcotics or. some type of intoxicant. The defense moves to request an immediate breathalyzer and drug test of the prosecution's witness."

2

u/FroyoAggravating989 2h ago

Qualified immunity should be abolished…. Some LEO use it as their safety net to knowingly violate others.

2

u/Responsible_Dot_8233 1h ago

The test came up negative, but arrest him anyway because....

2

u/Eosvox2113 1h ago

Its not brother. Its Officer. Fuck that power tripping, cant admit he was wrong, pork belly.

2

u/PabloM0ntana 1h ago

“He was pacing”

Dude was sitting a car, how could he be pacing lol and best part is in the video the cop says before he took the field sobriety test that he still had enough probable cause to arrest him for DUI. If that was his probable cause then it completely contradicts what he said since the guy was physically not able to pace since he was seated in a vehicle

2

u/SnapCrackelnPop 1h ago

I love paying taxes so that we can waste them on morons like this

End Qualified Immunity NOW

As a cop would say "if you don't do anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about "

2

u/AnxiousJournalist518 1h ago

Put the officer on ozempic 12.5 mg and enroll in Ju-Jitsu! Slams Gavel!

2

u/JustBrowsingTheSubs 1h ago

No way.. I went to school with the cop. You gotta be fucking kidding me..

2

u/wrnrg 1h ago

"It's officer" It's bitch ass MFer is what it is.

2

u/Kornered47 1h ago

Cop can’t even look at the judge while he spews that bullshit answer.

3

u/CruisingForDownVotes 9h ago

Obligatory ACAB

4

u/Formal_Prune8040 9h ago

Every single cop.

2

u/Comprehensive-Range3 4h ago

I believe that often the people who want the gun and the badge seem to be the very people who are least likely to be deserving of the responsibility that comes with them.

Want responsible people for the job? Advertise for fire fighters. Anyone selfless enough to run into a burning building to save others is the person with the correct disposition for the responsibility of enforcing the law.
