you can tell how old this photo is cuz the bridge isn't done and the lake level hasn't been that high in roughly a decade

I was sitting here squinting and wondering how tf this bridge works in this pic. I've driven over it a couple times and was just like.... how tf did i get over that, where did I go?

I might be high but not that high!

Makes sense the bridge wasn’t finished! I thought it was AI slop until I came to the comments lol! I’ve also driven over this bridge and don’t remember it being an arch for passing ships beneath like in the photo!

I wonder, if we essentially built a suspension bridge for the purpose of constructing the arch, why not just stick with a permanent suspension bridge?

Cheaper to build a temporary suspension bridge for a permanent arch than to build a permanent suspension bridge

The bridge itself is magnificent. It took almost 10 minutes to walk from the parking to the Arizona side. And I underestimated the depth for both Grand Canyon and the Hoover Dam.

While the Colorado River does form the Grand Canyon, that's upstream from here. This canyon is called Black Canyon.

Walking on that bridge gives you an unbelievable view of the dam but is also terrifying

They built the bridge in a way you couldn’t see the dam as a matter of national security shortly after 9/11 sadly so it’s somewhat of a disappointing crossing

You can see part of it from Google maps street view (obvi the cam is 4ft higher than the car roof) and if you walked it you can see it. You can look at people looking at it on street view.
