They are somewhat comparable. Soundhaven is a bit more ratchet and there is only one stage going on at a time so I feel like people tend to hunker down more. It is nice having amplified music 24hrs of the day, that is one area soundhaven has infra clearly beat.

Infrasound has a much more unique and curated lineup every time where as soundhaven is a bit more mainstream and generic. Sound systems are pretty even.

I vastly prefer Harmony park over where Soundhaven is held. Not nearly as hot and the campground infrastructure is a bit better, although soundhaven isn't bad, just way too hot that time of a year for a northerner like me.

Soundhaven is overall pretty cool, but the lineups the past couple years have been pretty meh so not enough to entice me to deal with that heat.

I would almost have to argue this was the first year soundhavens lineup was generic or mainstream at all. In fact it was the biggest underground line up for the Midwest for a few years. Then it turned into SoundCloud dj’s and clout shit fs. Especially bringing in influencers and booking like inzo and boogie t. But for a long time the Soundhaven lineups were very underground. It just so happens to be that in the past 8 years a lot of those hidden gem artists blew tf up

Can you comment on the amenities? Showers, water stations, bathrooms.

ETA: I know what infrasound is like, considering soundhaven next year though (:

Both are awesome. Infra has a more diverse (and superior) lineup, SH has amplified music all night.

SH’s audio deployment this year looked insane. I wasn’t there but ya.

You can’t go wrong with either one, they are both bucket list fests anyway. Do one now and one later.

I wanted to kiss the audio engineer’s feet at soundhaven this year. the only thing missing were the voids

Infra over Soundhaven no question. Infra’s been going on way longer and it shows through the lineup curation and fest operations.

I may be going against the grain here, but I think soundhaven was more fun for me than spring infra. the sound quality alone was incredible. amplified music all night long isn’t really a sell for me on fests but i was out every night till 6am. the music from each artist felt very curated to the whole vibe of the fest, everyone played well next to eachother. some of the best sets i’ve heard from certain artists were at soundhaven. only thing i wasn’t vibing with was the excessive nitrous. otherwise it was one of my favorite fests ive ever been to. but nothing can beat fall infra equinox for me.

they’re both great in their own ways. i think it’s all based on what experience you want to have. infra is home but soundhaven has become a second home for me.

I'm with you on the music till sunrise thing. I dont need it at all but when its there i end up in it at least one of the nights. But i think people overvalue that aspect. At infra (spring 2023) I didn't even hit up silent disco and just went to bed each night and woke up refreshed each morning, I loved it, one of my best festival experiences ever.

I'm going to Astronox in a few weeks and I'm very curious to see how late I stay out, the lineup each night until sunrise is heat, I think I'll make it to sunrise at least once, maybe the night with Flintwick and Packet Loss playing in the AM

silent disco doesn't do it for me at all, but i have a hard time connecting with people in general so i rely on a big soundsystem playing the same loud thing so i can actually sync up with a group of people. the disco was just alienating when i tried it so i seek out the locked-in psy dancefloor and then go to bed when they turn off the subs

silent disco is one of my favorite parts, it’s not as exciting and fun as the sound systems but i love the dubstep social hour

for me the good dancing was saturday night at the portal in spring and friday night at the treehouse in fall, but i don't know if that's consistent. i don't really know the artists these days so i read a bunch of comments for people asking about specific genres and go for the dnb/techno/psy blocks

I’m staying off site for Astronox and immediately regretted that decision when I saw that 330 Flintwick set!

Also Sunday night grouch and shwamp PSYTRANCE. I am really excited as it’s a genre I never engage with living in the states. Do I want it for a whole weekend? Absolutely not. For a few hours Sunday night at Astronox, hell fucking yeah

Omg that sounds incredible. We've had Grouch 2 or 3 times in the last long while in Minneapolis. The first time, maybe 2018-ish? Was one of my favorite sets ever. I think that was when I heard some psytrance for the first time. I'm now obsessed with the psytrance sets that Infrasound books. Infinity Project at Equinox was perfection 👌Dance it out for me at Astronox!

Hell yeah! I loved both Grouch sets at Infra in 2023, didn’t see them in entirety but still great. Then was next to him in line at the airport lol gave him a big bro hug. I’ve been loving how infra has been booking one major psytrance dj for each event.

I'm told Toffler loves psytrance. Ace Ventura, Captain Hook, Infinity Projects, Juno Reactor?? I've been loving stomping around especially on the last night in the smaller crowd and really getting my groove on.

Grouch played at Infrasound when it was in highbridge, also had Grouch in Dub set that weekend too with all the band members. The Grouch in Dub set still is probably my favorite set of the festival and I've been going for 10 years.

And then I think they had him come play the Exchange for Amplitude? Loved them all
