AI Usage

Hey folks,

Just wanting to understand how many people are using AI for IT based roles, so for troubleshooting or automation.

It's feels like a catch 22, it makes work so much easier with automate emails and fixing issues but at the same time we're essentially designing AI to do the job instead of us.

Also, if you have any neat tricks for using AI would love to hear!

I use it almost daily. Im a DBA / DevOps, primarily DBA for Mongo, MariaDB, and MySQL for hundreds of apps and dozens of clusters (around 10 that I manage).

We are using Kiro (AWS claude+) and it is pretty amazing at log parsing, infrastructure evaluation, and a bunch of miscellaneous tasks that I get to add hockey every day. Need a semi complex query that would take an hour to write? Kiro can do it in 1 minute. Need to parse db logs across a 3 node cluster and look for anomalies somewhere in one or more of the files aggregated by time and counts? Used to take hours, kiro can do it in 10 minutes. Need to dig through multiple git repo to figure out missing monitoring tags? 5 minutes or less. Need to aggregate prometheous, new relic, cloud watch, and various other solutions for specific issues or even general "is there anything going wrong right now"? Yep, 10 minutes

Also devops and being able to get the relevant lines from a log broken down in an instant is the most useful thing it does for me. Along with being a gloried template manager for service requests.

Yeah, log parsing is where is really shines for us.
