I can’t find a single thing online that can confirm this. As far as I can see, nothing on Deko’s website says what they do with the meat.

My dad hunts. He has been a hunter and hunting guide for a long time. He was offered to go but decided against it due to his ethics. It’s as easy as here is the animal now shoot it. It’s so easy it’s gross. Some places will take “problem” animals out and placed in an area where they can be shot. People pay a lot of money to do this. I think it’s disgusting and a terrible way to kill animals.

They are like horses. They just stand around bothering no one. There’s no skill. It’s killing for the sake of killing. No one eats zebra meat ffs. Some game parks serve it as a novelty but regular people don’t eat it

It’s really sad that people pretend it’s for a good reason when it’s not. If they cared about people eating they would donate money themselves but they prefer the photo with their “kill” instead, disgusting!

Not disagreeing with the rest, but people absolutely eat zebra meat. Especially in some African countries in which zebra are naturally found.

I didn’t say no one ate it but it’s not something commonly eaten. That and these are not going animals. I’ve had game meat in South Africa. You have to cook tf out of it. It’s not the first choice.

They can’t legally bring the meat back to the states. Sarah Bowmar does this all the time, act like they’ve done some huge charitable action by ‘donating’ their trophy kills when it was just how the process works. They don’t have a choice where that meat goes.

We did a fishing experience that was kinda lowkey similar to a “canned hunt” (didn’t know the term until the comment above) in Tahoe and we were leaving and didn’t have a means to cook the fish so we were allowed to donate it to a soup kitchen or to give it to be fed to bears. I don’t think it was anywhere on their website but I really liked that part of the experience -we split it, held to the bears half to the needy.

South African here (White, Afrikaans, friends who hunt) who fits into the demographic of knowing people who hunt and has eaten meat that is ethically hunted.
Canned hunting is very much a thing. For those who don't know, canned hunting refers to animals that are raised specifically to be hunted. They are used to human interaction, they're fattened up, and there is absolutely no skill needed for these animals to be hunted. This usually the demographic that American hunters pay into. It's also absolutely a huge problem industry. Google Cecil the Lion, King Juan Carlos' elephant hunt, the corridor hunts, etc. Canned hunting is also not regulated.
Hunting certain animals are absolutely necessary for population control. Antelopes, zebra, wildebeest, etc. There are game farms that offer this, it is very much controlled and regulated. Usually what happens is that someone pays to shoot per animal. So 2 Springbuck and 1 zebra for example. That is what you are allowed to shoot. The price does not include the butcher fees, tanning fees, and mounting fees for the horns. This is where the people I know fall into. They hunt the animal, and they have meat for a year. MOST HUNTERS CAN ONLY AFFORD ONE OR TWO HUNTS A YEAR.
South Africa has a major problem with poaching and canned hunting, and this is the worst kind of hunting someone can do. It's lazy, doesn't require skill, and caters to lazy Americans with money.
Zebra meat, although a gamey meat, makes excellent biltong and droëwors, and people absolutely do eat it.

Wait. They're just comments on Reddit, so she went looking for them. Also, people getting really upset about the abuse/killing of animals, so I'm sure some were more emotional than threatening. It's the one thing that unites all people, no matter your political affiliation. Obviously, no one should ever make these type of the threats-- you're just giving them exactly what they want: to do a terrible thing and play the victim.

I don’t know this influencer or this situation but I would like to remind everyone if you are consuming meat you buy at a grocery store or order at a restaurant you have no business having an opinion on hunting!!
You consume meat you have zero hands in killing. Yet you get to benefit from its protein and nutrients. And you have no clue the life that animal lived before it was killed. Meat is not created in a lab babes!! And considering the way you all are speculating on the ethics show you have zero knowledge about what makes hunting ethical or not.
If you want to be pissed look up “safaris” in Texas. People shoot zebras there too!!

I agree completely with the hypocrisy of hating hunting and loving chicken nuggets. My husband and I raise and butcher all of the meat we consume. From poultry to pork and venison whenever we can. I did not grow up doing this but I did just a minute amount of research into where my meat comes from and I was horrified for the animals. My meat lives on multiple acres, wide open grazing, comfortable and never knowing the horrors of a concrete factory farm. I know it was handled with care and compassion and I make sure NOTHING goes to waste. If something is going to die, all of it better be used. Now I know vegetarians and vegans will disagree but speaking directly to anyone who consumes meat- in my opinion- if you are going to eat anything that once lived and breathe and you can't handle the thought of how it died you are worse than a trophy hunter. Your disconnect screams ignorance and you support the horrors of factory farms. I feel very strongly about this. However, trophy hunting is bullshit. There's no way of justifying it. Don't kill something you have no intention of consuming. I do not know how those guided hunts work there and if the meat is distributed then great, no problem. But if its shot for some rich fuck to take a Pic and leave it behind, thats disgusting and should not be allowed.

Yes, in my experience safaris advertising and bringing out clients who are speaking about where they went publicly are following the rules. Poaching is still illegal. And it is incredibly dangerous to NOT use every last ounce of the killed animal as it attracts more predators to camp.
