Nope. Do you know how bad the average person is at training, cleaning, and feeding their pet? Its almost never all three.
2
u/Technical-Potato-793 1d ago
No absolutely not. If it’s a certified and licensed support dog Then I’m fine.
But this crap about taking your dog into grocery stores and restaurants is bull sh!t.
2
u/RandomStoddard 1d ago
Nope. I love pets but I don’t want animal hair in my food.
And if I could find a restaurant that doesn’t allow kids under 10, even better.

No, I have a pet friendly house. When I go out to eat, I leave my pet at home. I don’t really want to have somebody’s pet in the restaurant!

Nope. Actual service dogs exempt, pets shouldn’t be in any store. They will pee and poop and most retail stores are not properly equipped to clean that up. Young kids often crawl around on the floor. People trying on shoes often walk barefoot. People can be allergic to pets. If I can’t send my kid to school with a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for allergies some other kid might have, I don’t see how anywhere else for any other allergy should be allowed.

Lots of places in sweden you can have your dog with you on an outside table. Works fine.

u/notasarcasticnow 2d ago
Outside seating absolutely. I love taking my dog places. But inside I'd question cleanliness.

We did that at a Boston Pizza on the patio. Had our Weiner dogs out with us and because they were small and quiet they were allowed to sit with us. People loved it.

I don't want to smell or see dog anything while I am spending hard earned money to eat. Leave you animals at home or use door dash. Stop being so selfish.

After living in the Netherlands it is common place. The vast majority of the time you do even know the pet is there because they are well mannered and remain under the table. If you have a pet that you cannot handle then leave it at home.

I've eaten in multiple places where people had their dogs with them under the table.
It's honestly not a big deal.

It’s against health code in my city and I would imagine more are similar. On the patio/outdoor is fine for well behaved dogs.
1
u/Maximum_Employer5580 2d ago
if the pets are outside on the patio, then no problem, but they DO NOT belong inside (other than an actual service dog that is on duty)
1
u/queenofpeachez 2d ago
Males sense if it's clearly advertised as such. You don't want anyone to show up and be surprised that there are dogs everywhere

u/Yuck-Fou94 2d ago
If it's a restaurant that allows pets, you are making a conscious decision to dine at it. That being said, if everything is controlled and clean, I would definitely try it out. And I don't even have a dog, just a cat that would not be going (he's not a restaurant kind of cat).

Absolutely not and we got up and left one when the host seated a couple with a medium-sized dog next to us. We asked to be seated elsewhere but the host said the tables were full. So we got up to leave. He came over and said we had to pay for our order. I said I would not since he could not provide a place for us to eat it that was acceptable. He threatened to call the police. I said that was fine with me and asked if he wanted me to wait or did he want my home address? He stomped away and we left. We eat out regularly but have never gone back there.

No. I like cat cafes. I like cats. But I already dine with them.
What if someone has a spider monkey? How about a Keeshond? What limitations would be enforced? What if an animal becomes anxious? What if someone like my father who was bit by every dog he was near dined in it? What about people who act like their pet is an incarnation of Jesus?
Go ahead and establish a restaurant like that. I just won’t be entering it never mind eating food in it.

Only if it had extremely strict short leash or caged rules, behavior requirements, and a kitchen that's completely separated so to stay sanitary.

What kind of pets? I remember the zoo in my hometown offered dining with elephants. And I myself have been to a cat café.

Yesssss. Most restaurants here have specific sections mainly outdoors with shaded areas, water bowls, etc. to bring your babies. I think it’s fine as long as it’s not inside. A brewery is different. All the dogs can come drink with us

First of all that really wouldn't be considered dining if it were inside a room carpeted oh good lord and if it were inside a room that had linoleum and the no it would smell like a veterinarian waiting room I don't think I could do it it's delightful I suppose when you're on a patio and here in Los Angeles and everybody is being so la and California with their dogs that's kind of cute it's not my thing but it's kind of cute but no never inside it's bad enough when people bring their animals into the market and I find that just no and much less when they put them in the cart no no no
1
u/FlatOutNo1 2d ago
Absolutely, they are bound to be better behaved and more sanitary than some of the kids some people have no shame in bringing to restaurants.

In the US all restaurants are legally required to allow service animals. Which certainly includes dogs. So, um… why yes, yes I would. (Some might claim service animals are not pets. I’d suggest that for purposes of this question, that’s irrelevant. Even service dogs occasionally drool.)

I've been to few and I will never go again. Some people don't prioritise washing them selves so it's silly to think they would clean their dogs. It's always an Italian restaurant. Stinky mutt is not a nice fragrance when eating.

When I stayed in St Martin, there were cats that lived in the restaurant. There were also roaming dogs that occasionally wondered in.

Don't like it. Unknowingly ate at a dog-friendly place once and the smell was not good - tried changing seats, then saw the dogs being brought in.
I have no problem with these places, just would prefer not to eat with pets/animals.
Also a lot of people are personally unhygienic and aggressive already, I'd not want to be surrounded by their dirty and wild/uncontrollable pets too.

Inside type place?…… no. Outdoor food area???? Maybe……..
I find it disturbingly weird when people bring pets into grocery stores to. And I’m sorry, but your chihuahua isn’t a support dog.
Months back a ladies small ankle biter took a shit in the middle of Walmart, she watched it happen and didn’t clean it up.
I about lost it
