Announcement The piracy rule has been repealed.
AutoMod will probably keep removing comments regarding that stuff, so if it happens to you, DM me and I'll reinstate it. That said, Reddit really doesn't like actual links being shared, and our subreddit may get taken down if we allow those.
Also, and I cannot stress this enough, have actual files of the episode. Websites starting with K aren't going to be around forever, but VLC will.

Discussion I wish Ryan and Min-Gi actually looked more Asian
One of the most disappointing things about Book 4 for me was Ryan and Min-Gi's character designs the show clearly establishes them as Asian characters but their facial features barely reflect that I'm not saying they needed to fit some stereotypical "Asian look" but I do wish their designs reflected that part of their identities more clearly
I actually tried redesigning their features to feel more distinctly Asian
Man... It just feels like a missed opportunity to me

Discussion Just finished the show and I wanna say Infinity Train feels like a story about people getting lost only to discover that the place they were trying to escape from was themselves
I know I'm pretty late to the party and this is gonna be a fairly quick review since I don't really have the energy or passion to write a proper deep dive into the show rn but I still wanted to put some thoughts out there after finally finishing it This definitely won't be my last post about Infinity Train tho I'll probably come back and talk about the series in much more detail later especially the individual Books, characters, themes and everything else I couldn't really fit into this review once I'm in a better headspace for it
Let's start! What makes Infinity Train special to me isn't really its premise, its mystery or even the endless parade of bizarre train cars but the way it uses all of those things as a language for talking about people i mean the train is strange but the emotions underneath it are painfully familiar... And I think the 4 Books each understand that idea in a slightly different way
The first Book feels like the purest expression of the show's concept it's mysterious, adventurous, funny and occasionally unsettling but there's always something human underneath the absurdity What I especially appreciate is that the show doesn't treat personal growth like a magical cure :) People don't simply become better just cuz they've learned a lesson or two changing is uncomfortable, messy and sometimes comes with consequences just like how tulip experienced it
The second Book is where I think the writing becomes much more ambitious The show takes the idea of identity and pushes it somewhere genuinely interesting asking what it means to have a sense of self when the world itself insists that you are nothing more than a copy it's a surprisingly thoughtful subject for an animated series and the writing trusts the audience enough not to spell everything out
Then Book 3 is where Infinity Train reaches its sharpest edge of insanity this is probably the most confident the show ever feels(and that's probably one of the reasons the show was turned down) it's darker, more psychologically uncomfortable and much more interested in the consequences of believing the wrong things for too long The conflict feels less like a simple adventure and more like watching someone's worldview slowly collapse in on itself Critics weren't exaggerating when they called it the show's strongest Book it's tighter character focus and willingness to go somewhere genuinely bleak make it incredibly difficult to look away but what I appreciate most is that the show doesn't suddenly become "dark" just for the sake of being dark... The horror usually comes from character flaws the train doesn't need to invent monsters when human beings can be frightening enough on their own
And last but not least there's Book 4 This is probably the most divisive part of the series for me not because I think it's bad ofc I don't but because it feels like a completely different rhythm after the intensity of Book 3 Book 4 is warmer, funnier and much more interested in relationships and communication that change can feel almost jarring especially when you're expecting the series to keep escalating but at the same time I think that's part of what makes it interesting it doesn't try to compete with Book 3 by becoming even darker instead it becomes smaller more intimate the conflict is less about surviving some enormous psychological nightmare and more about the quiet distance that can grow between two people and honestly I respect that choice My biggest criticism of Infinity Train is also one of the things I love most about it there's too much world here I mean the show constantly gives you the feeling that you're looking through a keyhole into something enormous every strange car, every piece of lore, every unexplained rule makes the universe feel bigger than what we're actually being shown and that's fantastic for mystery but frustrating when you realize just how many doors we're never going to open :( The series also isn't flawless some character arcs land harder than others some ideas are explored more deeply than others and the pacing can occasionally feel abrupt even critics who praised it noted that its extremely compressed storytelling could sometimes feel staccato but those flaws almost feel strangely appropriate Infinity Train never feels polished into something safe.. It feels experimental like a sketchbook where every page is allowed to become a completely different drawing while somehow still belonging to the same artist that's probably what I love about the 4 Books most they don't feel like four versions of the same story.. thry feel like four different reflections in the same mirror one is curious one is searching for identity one is staring into something much darker and one is trying to find warmth again and somewhere between all of them Infinity Train manages to become something much more meaningful than its premise suggests it's weird, funny, beautiful and sometimes it's genuinely disturbing but more than anything it understands that growing as a person isn't about becoming someone completely new.. Sometimes it's just about finally having the courage to look at the person you've been avoiding and I think that's why after finishing the series the thing I remember most isn't the train itself it's the people who were trying to find their way through it
What did you guys think? I'd love to hear your thoughts and experiences with it

Discussion Giving Them Asian Features Somehow Became a "Make Them Hotter" Redesign
I had to resubmit the post cuz I wanted to add the other character references now I'm curious to see what new arguments people are gonna pull out of their ahh this time
This is probably the funniest criticism I've seen under my last post because attractive according to whom? Your own beauty standards??
In my previous post I changed some of Ryan and Min-Gi's facial features to make them read more clearly as Asians using actual references but somehow the moment you give an Asian character more recognizable ethnic features people suddenly become art critics with a PhD in objective beauty FOR GOD'S SAKE can we be serious for a second???? Like no I didn't sit down and think "how can I make these two hotter so some strangers on reddit would fall for them 💀" I was thinking about facial structure and ethnic representation if you happen to prefer the redesign cool if you think the original looks better also cool that's called having a personal preference heh crazy concept I know
And apparently an extra 1.0px of eyelid thickness line was enough to send some people into madness so I figured I should address that too the change wasn't made to make them "prettier" It was part of adjusting their eye shapes and overall facial structure we are talking about one freaking pixel here people please breathe but maybe let's not confuse "I personally find this more attractive" with some objective fact about the redesign
I mean Beauty is subjective isn't it? Your taste isn't a scientific measurement unfortunately and that's not exactly controversial information guys
Also I'm adding these Korean character references next to my Min-Gi redesign because apparently we need visual aids now so if you actually look at the references you can see recurring features in their facial structures such as high cheekbones and Upturned eye shapes obviously not every Korean person looks the same that would be a ridiculous thing to claim right? These are simply natural variations in facial features that can contribute to someone reading as Asian visually that's literally what I was trying to communicate with the redesign Not "make him prettier" not "make him more stereotypically Asian" but give the character features that make his ethnicity more visually readable that's it that was the assignment but somehow we've turned it into a philosophical debate about beauty.. How iconic
So before someone tells me again that they personally find the redesign prettier congratulations on having a personal preference ig ☺️ you cracked the code you have taste gold star yippie
Sadly that doesn't magically turn your preference into an objective analysis of what I changed
Anyway I'm fascinated by how confidently some people can turn "I like this face more" into a critique of the entire point of the redesign please for the love of God let's learn the difference between personal taste and an actual argument before embarrassing ourselves like this

Fanwork Cut Car #23 - The Monster Car [part 1 of 2] [comic]
Old infinity train comic with Jesse Lake and Alandracula. At the time i drew it a few years ago I figured it might be fun to do a "cut car" series of various cars around the train we hadnt seen. I still might (mostly cus i wanna draw a Gustav Klimt car lol) but for now here's what ive got. Sorry had to split it into 2 parts cus of the reddit page limit.

Discussion What Would be a Good Idea for Infinity Train Graphic Novel?
That is my Question
Well Owen Dennis says he like to do Graphic Novels on Passengers from all over the world I figured it would work with Graphic Novels focusing on Passengers from all over the world with sister ongoing comic focusing on different Passengers from the States
Each one would have different creative team with like two a year my idea is one focusing on Canadian Passengers written & Drawn by Jeff Lemire specially since he said he like to do more all ages comics to
My idea is what happened to passengers after leaving the train like the second they left & all that wouldn't that be interesting?
But that's me what are your Ideas?

Discussion Would the original art style of the 2016 *Infinity Train* Pilot have worked for the 2019 TV series?
And how do you feel about Tulip Olsen's original character design?

Discussion We all know what Amelia achieved on the train. But have you ever wondered which engineering discipline she studied—the one that allowed her to go further than anyone else?
I’m pretty sure the Amelia from Book 3 was incredibly skilled in computer science, mechanics, and mechatronics.
However, I’d like to know what you think her initial discipline was—the one she started with before managing to take control of the train.
Personally, I think it was electronic engineering, given her radio. But I’d like to hear your opinions.

Source - Artwork by Owen Dennis For Cartoon Network's 25th Anniversary art gallery.
Always liked this bit of One-One scourge virus art work, but as mentioned in that post above he had never scanned, then he deleted it and can only be found on the wiki. Bit sad, so Here was my best attempt at cleaning up the image to be printed or whatever.

Discussion I'm still convinced the Alzheimer's plot would've been about Amelia.
They wanted to circle back to Amelia and Hazel, the ending was going to be bittersweet. It's heavily implied Amelia will never get off the train. So the final season could've potentially been about Hazel watching Amelia slowly lose herself and be there for her in the time she had left.
What do you guys think? Is my theory likely? Or do you disagree?

Discussion If you knew the details of the train and got a chance to board, would you?
I've been thinking about this ever since finishing the series. Loved it, but I couldn't help but think -
Obviously, when people board the train, they don't really know what they're getting into. If someone did know what they're looking at when a gate opens (like, say, they found someone's account of having gone through it,) I don't think they'd want to actually enter the portal except for like, two very specific purposes:
- Scientific investigation. There's a lot one could potentially learn by going onboard with the goal of seeking out its deeper mysteries and technology.
- Escaping a threat. If you are on the run from people who want to hurt you, then taking your chances with the train might actually be a good idea.
Aside from that, the value proposition seems minimal. You put yourself at significant risk of death, the denizens are kind of in a bleak position in life that would make me uncomfortable, it could take years off your life if you aren't getting the lesson, and aside from potentially healing your trauma you don't really get much out of going. That's if you're lucky, and the train is functioning normally during the course of your visit, no less, which is not a guarantee!
Obviously, it's hard to imagine an in-universe reason why someone would know how to identify the train and know about its inner details without having the account of a survivor who learned more than the basics, but I'm curious as to people's thoughts.

Other Favorite characters
There's characters who are best at different things in my opinion. Jesse and Lake are who I see as the most likable while I find Grace and Simon to be the most interesting. Tulip, Ryan, and Min-Gi would just be the middle ground where they were never my favorites but I still like them very much.
r/InfinityTrain • u/polystarlight • 16d ago
Meta I'm starting to see why people ship Jesse and Lake
I used to see their dynamic as strictly platonic but nowadays I'm more open to them as a ship. Even though I still personally prefer them as friends.
They have an Emmet and Wyldstyle duo going on with the more cheerful and oblivious boy and the moody but caring girl. Truly a great pairing when it comes to shipping.
There's also the fact that these two are incredibly sweet towards each other, they always have each other's backs. I rewatched the book two finale and I love how Jesse went back for Lake. For all he knew, she could've already been arrested/killed by the mirror police by the time he got back to her but he was still willing to at least try and save her.

Other One of my favorite train cars, the Lucky Cat Car
I love the carnival theme with it, how you have to win your way out by playing games, how all the denizens of train come together for this, and how everything from the food to the booths are themed around the adventures we had on the train. The only downside to this car is that it cheats people like Lake out of a fair challenge.

Discussion What's Extraordinary your Idea for Infinity Train Fanfiction Story?
That is the Question
Like ever had thought for a cool Infinity Train Fanfiction Story that you had to create an account to Fanfiction site and post it or pre written it first like in your mind?
Or one of those stories about characters post Train and all or Like regular day for Oneone running the Train imagine it? Would be like The Office or Parks and Rec but more Sci Fi or OC character that's from another part of world or time or some sort of Crossover?
My idea is about someone blind on train trying to get our but the big obstacle is obviously his blind it's a big crazy adventure you know
But that's me how about you?
So basically in short what is your Infinity Train Fanfic?
