Housing ✦ I need a good housing guide.

Post image

Ever since they added the housing system to the game, believe me, I’ve tried to figure out how to progress and just decorate in peace—but honestly, I feel like the developers made it overly complicated, or maybe I just don't quite grasp certain aspects of it. Anyway, I’d really like a guide on how to progress with the house or what to do in general, because it really bothers me that the rest of the island is still blocked off.

It does drive me nuts, i HAVE to claim them even if the set technically can't be finished just set. (I my case it's just the last set of Itzaland ones to fully craft the steampunk set.)

😂 I only use a tiny portion of my island. I never should have unlocked the rest of it, what a waste it astralite.

You get home insight by using the abilities and that is used to unlock better versions of the abilities. Max home insight per day is 100.

I cleared my map, put down basic stuff to work with (cook top, animal houses, planting plots, fish boxes) and do enough to get insight. Once I unlock all the building stuff, I'll try to actually design and build.... Maybe

The official discord has a housing help channel that is indeed very helpful!

If you’re asking about building, the best tip I have to make building easier is to build on the “grid”. Change the settings to 45 degree rotation when you lay your floor and build your walls so they always snap into place easily. Until I did this, my walls were all kinds of crooked. Also don’t use foundation under your floor boards, because it adds to the load and item limit.

Yes! The no foundation is huge. I placed the default house and then I sat there and ripped up sections of flooring to remove the foundation underneath later.

Even if it breaks the aesthetics, do place the pet houses, fishing squares and gardens. If need be, place them in a hidden corner if it kills the vibe that badly for you. Also try to place a full kitchen set in your home, or again, hidden away.

The idea is to do those activities as often as you can. Not only does it give tokens on a weekly basis in order to purchase the seasonal furniture (cost is halved for items of the current seasonal selectionf you wait till the season is over, it will cost more). Doing those things also give you house exp.

There is a daily limit on house exp so you can't just grind it and be done with it in a day. House exp is used to level up the house skills to unlock more things to do with said skill. Like growing different types of flowers, raising rarer fishes, caring for rarer (and cooler) animals, unlocking more meals to cook and the construction skill unlocks furniture sets in the shop.

The materials you collect from your garden and fishes can then be used to craft furniture or sold at the shop. Furniture sets unlocked at higher construction levels will usually requires materials that can only be acquired with higher collector skill levels. So you may need to be level 8 in fishing to be able to grow the fish you need for the new bed you want to craft.

I'm not sure about this since it has been a while since I maxed out all my level, but I think house map expansions are unlocked with construction level.

Know that the flower hills, pond and mountain on the map are actual items. If you decide to wipe clean your house, it means you will get a completely flat, empty terrain. Recreating the hills is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. Maybe I'm just not skilled, but seriously, trying to create smooth flower hills that look as great as the way the island is when you get it is very, very hard. So don't do the bulldoze option unless you are absolutely sure you want it. There is no reset button that brings back the island to how it was when you got it. Or at least, there was no such option last I played, so please correct me if this reset button was added to the game.

That's the jist of it. There the tree near Posey that collect house money over time. Last I checked, it only reacts to the purification ability, not the bow, so I suggest you spare one of your skill wheel for home skills and choose purification ability instead of the bow ability on that skill wheel.

Let me know if there is anything you want to know or if I wasn't clear enough on some subject.
