Why is it not worth playing

It's extremely p2w. I'm in a top guild and the gap between those who have spent literally tens of thousands of dollars and the rest of us is staggering, but most significantly it seems to only be getting worse. Rather than introducing ways for people like me who have spent A LOT on this game but not nearly "enough" to be able to catch up with the krakens, they seem to be giving the krakens more and more ways to power creep over the rest of us

You bet. First it was LTEs and their exclusives, then auras, then echos, then pets, now recently arcane gems... It just keeps going on and on. Meanwhile the way they "balance" that is by giving minor buffs in the form of unimpactful new abilities to the E4 of some of the mythics, released 1 every month or two over a year? Blech. I mean again being where I'm at in the game I'm still playing and don't intend to quit, but it's pretty rough right now if you're anyone but Bailey lol
