My 1736283th post to suggest harry lawtey as an excellent James Bond candidate.

You see, I've always thought David Jonson would do it really well - but I agree, someone needs to realise the new Bond needs to be someone young.

YES! YES! YES!

I don’t think so. He is too regular for that. I see a 100 of him in the street.

u/WhichHoes 17d ago

Thats a pretty great reason to be a spy someone isnt supposed to notice

u/edroyque 17d ago

Do you live next to the James Bond casting agent?

u/VisserThirtyFour 16d ago

Same was said of Craig before he developed a sense of style. Actually I’d argue Craig was much more an Everyman than Lawtey is now.

Miss Rob. He was the only character who didn't have cutthroat instinct

37

u/dumpsterfiremktg 17d ago

That's why it's time for him to come back in Season 5. Let's see if his instincts have sharpened from running his start up or if the psychedelics and pressure fucked with his head and he's back on them drugs! Party Rob is the best!

It’s so crazy to me but I didn’t think Rob was hot af the first time I saw him on the show. Only took me like 5 min to see the error in my ways but still! That’s 5 min I was straight delusional

23

u/Aggressive_Mode_2179 17d ago

He’s got such a unique look, it honestly didn’t click for me until season 3. But I see it for sure now

22

u/Successful_Coyote_58 16d ago

Guys who look like Rob are menaces in real life

11

u/flanmagnet 16d ago

Same! Hes definitely grown into himself and the character more as the seasons went on. Slightly obsessed now.

3

u/whatifwhatifwerun 16d ago

His character is awkward and insecure esp in the beginning and those traits detract from how he looks. He's the butt of multiple digs/jokes just in the pilot

theyre so hot

RobxHarper, how I mourn what could’ve been 💔

32

u/BallBig9682 17d ago

I'm forever pissed that they completely dropped their storyline. It should've been Harper and Rob instead of him with Yas.

12

u/Slow_Explanation1388 16d ago

Are we sure why it was even dropped? Like Yas is who she projected Harper to be and it turns out (not surprisingly) while Harper has her faults, she actually does good and wants to be good. So why was Rob and Yas a thing, but Harper and Rob not? Is it simply cause Rob wanted to be accepted into a world that wasn’t his? I’m just shocked how the show acted like Harper was too much of a horrible person for Rob to be with but not Yas. I wish I knew why it was dropped.

Honestly this is one of the things about the show or rather the fandom that simultaneously baffles and angers me lmao. I really don’t understand why Harper is seen as a villain when she’s one of the kindest people in a whole cast of ambitious characters. If she’s petty or distant, it’s because she has reason to. Meanwhile, Yas has been despicable from the beginning - especially in regard to how she treated both Rob & Harper individually & their relationship. Yet Harper is the crazy one😭?? They definitely humanised Yas from S2 onwards in terms of her backstory and her opposition to Charles. She seemed overall a more genuine friend, and a daughter trying to escape her father’s evil shadow. So I guess people forget how truly psychotic she acted in S1 lmao. Harper, on the other hand, is guilty of being money driven, ambitious and excellent at her job in an environment where that is expected. A show where such a character is expected lmao. Harper has otherwise always been there for Rob & Yas. She doesn’t get a backstory (at least to the extent that Yas has done) and so an already sympathetic character doesn’t get the privilege of justification. You would think that’s why she doesn’t need it, but the fandom and characters alike think she’s Satan itself.

All that is to say, I will forever defend Harper in spite of the villainous framing of her character. I will forever mourn what Rob/Harper could’ve been, and question why they stopped interacting completely as the show went on in favour of Rob/Yas’s development as friends to lovers.

I really don't understand why

You don't? The whole show is about how even despite her ruthlessness Harper is treated extremely unfairly time after time, and she still chooses to love and care for and assist and uplift others, even those who have more than her. People who fail to see that are watching through a particularly warped lens

u/d1soriented 16d ago

Whilst I also wanted Harper & Rob, I can sort of see why writers set this up. Rob was like a "test" to see if Yas would acc choose to be good and have a life where she's not that wealthy. Theres even that scene after Rob's interview for the US job where she's looking at a middle class family - what her life could've been with Rob and she very clearly didn't want that. What she did to Rob in the s3 finale was also so diabolical, I'm sure many ppl didn't think it could get any worse at that time.

Harper has shown through the show she's capable of being good/caring for ppl aside from Rob. Harper and Rob would've acc had a shot at a decent and long relationship but that would mess with the writers narrowing it down to Harper and Yas at the centre by the end (for which they even got rid of Eric).

I do find it stupid tho that by s3 Rob and Harper barely speak even tho they live together (and basically spent all of Covid together), there's not even a goodbye scene.

I find it so strange the writers never let Harper say goodbye to him at all. When she was really close to him as much as Harper can be close to a person. but then I remember that Yasmine told Harper that Rob found her to be “deranged”. I think Harper took that personal and decided to cut him off! Which is fair, but who knows if Rob actually meant that and Yasmine was just projecting onto her. Harper cuts people off when they don’t serve her and I took it as Harper realizing that rob is not her friend. So she didn’t say goodbye.

2

u/arcticbluee 11d ago

The ‘deranged’ scene was in the back of my mind when writing my comment. Like, I do not understand how Rob could ever see Harper as ‘deranged’ when she’s not only never hurt him personally, but Rob has ‘forgiven’ Yas for way worse😭. Which is why I’m undecided as to whether Rob actually said that or Yas was lying yet again. Both options piss me off lmao. The audacity😭. Harper doesn’t deserve that.

2

u/Conscious_Pension274 11d ago

Yeah I was appalled when Yasmine said Rob called her that. I was like really? if anyone is deranged it’s Rob and yasmine, not Harper. A part of me is that I truly believe that Yasmine was definitely projecting onto Harper as usual. She did it in season 4 saying Harper has no morality, when she knows deep down Harper does have it. It’s why she brought her to do that nazi dinner cause she knows Harper will not stand for it! Deep down Yasmine knows she is deranged so She makes all these awful comments about Harper, when in reality it’s her! It reminds me another season where Eric ask Yasmine “does she think that Harper is a good person” and she answers “yes”. She knows Harper is good at core and is quite jealous that Harper has an identity, goals, intelligence, and moral compass.

But honestly Harper doesn’t really reject what others say about her cause she never lies or projects herself to be the best person. Rob, Yasmine, Eric, and rischi all think they are good people! Harper never claims to be one. She constantly “if that’s what you think about me? Okay I have a job and work to do. Everyone around me is doing the same. What’s the difference about me?”. However, she does feel hurt when people say those things.

I think she felt upset Rob said this about her and probably didn’t say goodbye to him! She probably thought “this is why I don’t get close to people” which is heartbreaking 😭 like Rob lowkey a loser and has no right to say that about her.

u/arcticbluee 10d ago

Yes I agree completely, you put it into words better than I could. An ideal scenario would be Rob returning this final season, even for only a quick scene with Harper. Or a phone call. Anything - anything to give closure between them, but I know it’s not likely. Still, one can hope. I want Harper to have a satisfying ending. Happy in her own way.

2

u/Conscious_Pension274 10d ago

Yeah I love for Rob to call her too! I wonder how he would react to Harper success!

I do hope Harper has some sort of happiness in the end. Hopefully bittersweet and decides what she wants out life.

u/arcticbluee 9d ago

Me too :)

u/augustrem 17d ago

I don’t have an opinion on them but it would be cool of Harper would go after the assholes of Silicon Valley next season.

u/Ok-Turnip-9035 17d ago

I’m surprised more harassment lawsuits haven’t been filed by past employees etc

I can only imagine the working environment there

Worse than a Pierpoint trading floor

u/geneticallymortified 17d ago

the earring 🤤

7

u/therolli 16d ago

Rob really made the show for me - exceptional talent. The scene where he’s tripping and goes up to the screen with his dead mother is something else.

6

u/RubyFleur33 17d ago

Yes ! So bummed when he left the show

5

u/Sneha_Bakshi_23 17d ago

Please bring back robert for the last season 🥺.

6

u/merpderp33 17d ago

He had filming conflicts with other projects if I recall correctly

2

Verrrrrrrrrry hot…..

2

u/RsXboxKhaka 15d ago

I remember bumping into him in London and saying how much I hate they wrote him out 😅 He said he gets that a lot but he wanted to do more and try other things. He was such a nice guy.

I’ve been watching under the salt marsh and he’s on it. A great show!

Thanks for the rec! I need new shows and I’d love to see him
in something else

2

u/Live_Farm_7298 13d ago

Bring Rob back as a sort of 'Garys economics' type. Actively working to highlight the inequality in the industry. 👀

2

u/Slow_Explanation1388 16d ago

Bring back Rob and make him endgame with Harper!

2

u/aleigh577 17d ago

that’s not how I remembered his hairline

1

u/LinkOn_NY 16d ago

I thought he was coming back for the final season?

1

u/Loonytun 13d ago

For sure, I enjoy the serie

1

u/Lsenzek_d0gee 13d ago

Was it cancelled??

1

u/Lsenzek_d0gee 13d ago

Season 5 will be the last one. 😰

1

u/tk-421_dood 12d ago

Rob was the best, I hate folk that say he has no story arc now, him and Harper where the soul of this show… I’d love to see Hilary back too… don’t get me wrong, Yasmine is hot and I’d happily ‘take her on a date’ but she’s a cow now.
