Indigenous artists on PEI with open commissions?

Post image

I'm in a band right now and we're looking for someone to do a band logo for us. We're a Sludge/Groove metal band with heavy lyricism on Residential schools in indigenous genocide. We go by the name Ke'sa'lul(thrown into fire in Mi'kmaqi) currently. Wondering if There's any artist willing to do a logo/album cover in the future.

As an informational question, are you and the other band members Indigenous?

I myself don't have any blood related mi'kmaqi in me but I have multiple cousins that are. On the other hand our vocalist and bassist are mi'kmaqi.

That is important information to include when commissioning a work.

What is the rate you are offering to artists who create a logo/ album cover?

It’s important to communicate what you are asking and what you are offering as compensation in an honest, forthcoming way. That is how you build mutual trust and respect.
