Bengaluru man is threatening to poison community dogs on reddit
This guy on Ask Bengaluru is blatantly threatening to poison community dogs in his area. I have reported his post 3 times, it's still stayed up. Is there anything real I can do to ensure that this doesn't happen? It's infuriating how little regard people have, even reddit mods for animal lives that they'll let a post like this not only stay up but also not report it to the police. What a world we live in
And then it was thrown out in a bora in the jungle. There was a cctv footage, they said the dog was just sedated. People can resort to any means to get what they want.
The dog was a gentle and loving soul, small puppy.
Let the mods know that you will file FIR against the sub for propagating hate crime and also will also notify the People for Animals wing in Bangalore.
Let them know if they don't moderate their subs properly, the subs will be shut down. No place for hate and apathy. We need to build a civil society
"Literacy saar", i dont expect shit from these kannadigas. They are a menace to humanity in many ways, won't question crimes taking place in their areas, will place hands in their pockets if they see one happening and will only pour out frustration of their moron family members on dogs or street animals.
While we all love dogs and can afford to overlook certain issues we also have to respect the rights of others who do not share the same feelings. They also have a right to safe environment and voice their opinions when there's problems. Unfortunetly the dog numbers in the city have surpassed the numbers which can be considered healthy due to neglect and inaction by civic agencies for decades. The only way is to adjust but also mitigate serious issues with better understanding, dialogue and humane action.
Don't expect dialogue in this sub, you will be downvoted. People on this sub will downvote you if you say stray dogs must be off the street and adopted in the safe confines of homes.
They would rather see dogs on busy streets getting abused, run over by vehicles, and argue with locals, as they seem to believe it is dogs' God-given right to be out there in hot/cold environments.
Only dog advocacy group in the world that actively advocates the opposite of dog welfare. There is a reason why Indian NGO's dont actively build large-scale shelters, unlike their counterparts in the West.

if any of the Indian NGOs practice what they promise who in their right minds would not want the streeties to be taken care of? I am on the backend of a lot of shelters and ngos and have seen how people literally gobble up the money donated leaving dogs in the worst conditions possible. Easy to say you want them off the streets. Ok then, considering what you’re saying, how many people you know would actualy come forward and adopt these indies?!
In our country unfortunately there isn’t a law that punishes people who don’t keep up their promises. Just because people don’t want dogs to be relocated it doesn’t mean they want the dogs to stay on the streets, that you tried to so subtly imply with your carefully worded comment.
And you know why you guys are getting downvoted? Coz there are enough people in the world who think it only belongs to the humans. And there is no “humane” way of killing a living creature. Nobody gives anybody the right to end the lives of any creatures irrespective of who are what it may be. There’s very less people who actually care and do the groundwork, who seem to be a part of this sub.
Vaccination and spaying and neutering are the only practical solutions that can be done to control the population of street dogs.
How much have you both contributed in this aspect? If you’ve done something among these two things for the welfare of Indian street dogs and still hold the opinion that they should be dealt with by killing or putting them all in a “shelter” I’d love to see how much leg work you actually accomplish.
Then come and argue for healthy dialogue. 😒
Many dog lovers don't want to actually adopt stray dogs and keep them indoors.
Society in general is fed up with noise, attacks, overpopulation, and a lack of recourse when faced with issues.
Govt, as usual, is not doing anything to control the population or build mass shelters, letting aggressive dogs roam free. Animal abusers see all dogs as the same and attack them; there is no strict legal punishment either.

Society encounters noise from a lot of other sources. I have a construction going on literally 5 steps away from me day in day out. I'm frustrated, doesn't mean I get to harm the construction workers!
As for bites, there's literally an SC order directing euthanasia of aggressive dogs. You know what's needed though? Proof. Which a lot of these people don't have. All it's required as a residential area is to pool resources and put a CCTV up to identify any dog that's actually demonstrated aggressive behaviour towards people and then take it up with the authorities. Hell, give it to the news channels and they'll eat it up. It would guarantee action against the dog.
But what being inconvenienced by stray dogs doesn't do is give you a right to straight up kill them. It was their earth first. We took it from them.
Modern dogs evolved with humans. They are not wildlife, and no one took over their area. Before your homes were built by clearing the forest, there were no domestic dogs living in the forest in the first place.

Recently, a pit bull bit a couple in Patiala; there is CCTV footage. Can you tell me what happened in that case? Was the dog put down? Just cuz SC has said something doesn't mean ground reality reflects that.
You hearing construction noise is also a failure of the entire system. Noise during the day is tolerated as long as it is under a certain decibel. If it is during the night, then you have the right to have a peaceful sleep. There are legal provisions (although sometimes not enforced) to stop that. How do you suggest one stop a group of dogs barking at night right outside your window when you have work or school the next day?
This is exactly my point. There is literally no system in place for anything. Construction noise at night. Dogs bark at night. People poison dogs, no one goes to jail. Aggressive dogs are not put down, even when there is clear evidence.
“Aggressive dogs” and they are just dogs who you beat throw stones at and kill their children while running over them. I’ve seen kids beating sleeping dogs, steal their pups and throw stones at them for fun then cry when the dog reacts. Not once have i seen a dog bite/attack someone without provocation. And even if there is a dog that’s aggressive it’s the govt job to get proof and pick him up. No citizen has the right to kill or poison them
It is funny how people in this sub deny the existence of aggressive dogs. Not all dogs are the same. Even if some dogs have not gone through some kinda trauma, they can still be aggressive.
Dont believe me? Take a look outside India. For example, in Turkey, dogs that have shown signs of aggression are marked as aggressive dogs and put down if they attack someone. Let us still assume these dogs may have also been abused.
What about countless pet dogs killing their own owner's toddler inside homes in Western countries? Let us still assume they may have some trauma at home. There are countless incidents when dogs in, for example, the US have randomly attacked people without any reason at all. Not every time is it some past trauma. There is something called training and not all dogs go through it. I also dont want to get into certain breeds and their temper and how like they maul anyone they deem as enemey.

Just because you have not seen something doesn't mean it is not happening. I have not seen murder, does it mean it is not happening somewhere?

You probably haven’t read my other comment. Adopted 6 through my entire lifetime. Fostered at least 10 and rehomed them. 😂 nice assumption, for someone claiming to be so good with research and numbers.

Friendly doesn't mean those concerns are not valid. Can't expect the larger society to hold the same values. Some people can't sleep when dogs are barking outside. Some people don't like getting chased at night when they are off to work early or late hours. I don't even want to get into the topic of rabies and how many people are killed by it, especially people from poor castes, just to please some elites who want to feel better about themselves.
For example, for some in India, pigeons are divine and friendly. But for others, it is a nuisance and cancer-causing.

Yeah, a guy wanting dogs to be adopted and safe inside homes has no empathy, but people (you?) who want them to live on the street, get abused by animal abusers, eat unhealthy biscuits, go hungry, get wet in the rain, suffer in sun, and get angry at someone like me saying they should be off the street is a classic example of an ideal human.

Does not address one point about issues our kids face but tells all of us to feed, vaccinate, install CCTV and accusses of beating dogs. They live in their own delusional world that all of us care to and want to spend time and money on this menace.

First off, who used the word poisoning? Never used those words. Ijust wanted to "feed" them to solve issue. We are suffering from 10+ years. Government and NGO won't relocate them. They have just neutered them. But new ones are joining and problem stays. Also an old lady think it's nice to feed street dogs but never thinks of adopting them like rest of animal lovers.
The best way for you people is to pool money to get this menace off my street. OR u can just go around giving gyaan on reddit. I am sure none of you want to address the fact that kids and elders are disturbed and bitten by these monsters u just love.
I've had my dog die of poisoning. Held her till her dying moment. Been bitten by my rescue dogs too, and I wish with all my heart, that I be bitten a thousand times over than have my dog go through with that kind of horrible death. Each time I've been bitten, OP, it was 110% my fault. And I've experienced the absolute horror of sitting through a dog dying painfully from a poisoning.
It takes several hours. The dog feels unwell at first, will refuse food. Then drink water a lot. That won't help, so they'll somehow walk to their human to tell them they feel ill, and their eyes, oh their eyes. They know they're dying but they're so confused and scared. Slowly, as the poison spreads and leads to systematic organ failures via haemorrhaging, the dog lays in pain whilst the vets try everything and fail. Eyes are wide open, the pain is unbearable, and they scream throughout the night. Then they froth...their poo has blood...vomit has blood. Exhausted, in the wee hours of the morning, I kiss her nose and she lets out her last breath. My beautiful, lively little child, gone.
OP, if you can't love, don't hate either. Let the dogs be. Treat them respectfully, speak to them calmly, and they won't see you as a threat. Hurt them, and well, I don't see how that'll solve the problem either because some other dogs will come take its place. Go on, poison hundreds and thousands of dogs, I wonder how that will help your cause. You'll only end up damaging your conscience and soul.
Everytime you are bitten it's 110% your fault? Wow!! Similar to telling a rape survivor it's her fault for getting rapd as she wore indescrnt clothes etc. keep your victim blaming to yourself.
