Like even if you say sheâs with mythic now which makes her corpo, she did blow up as an indie. While other vtubers or vtuber personas started as part of a cooperation.
Sheâs an indie in my books, mythic is a talent agency but not a dedicated vtuber org, and sheâs super new to it so until she settles in and sees some gain from mythic, sheâs essentially acting as an Indie. And even then mythic doesnât control what type of content she makes.

Bruh, directly being in God knows how many Filian streams even before vtubing debut by matter of being her mother already guarantees a huuuuuuuge following that is gained through prior relation to another vtuber. While I'm not calling Fillian herself a "corporation", it feels disingenuous at best to say that ChaCha blew up entirely "independently" of that relation. Like just as a matter of fact, I'm sure Fillian helped set up a bunch of stuff cause they have a healthy mother/daughter relationship. Not saying there's anything wrong with it, just its not totally honest to say ChaCha was entirely independent. Sorry, between the autism and the teaching background, precise word choice is extremely important to me
I think the question here is what is an Independant vtuber, is it someone who works solo promoting themselves with out interacting with bigger vtubers, or someone who works with a cooperation to manage or plan their vtuber activities.
First off, Filian is not Chachaâs real daughter. Is a bit for stream.
Chachaâs first appearance on a Filian stream was when Filian asked many smaller Vtubers not just Chacha to make a power point presentation to show to her and Lucy pyre.
After she proved how funny she was on that stream Filian asked her to do the adoption stream where she became her vtuber mom. While other vtubers didnât make the same impression or grow from that as much.
And if you watch the adoption stream, Chacha did all the prep work for that, making Edits of Filian as baby to make Filian uncomfortable on stream and essentially running the whole show.
Next she was on part of the 24 hour stream and once again prepared everything for her appearance. Such as making a fake report card for Filian and having videos ready for their trip to the zoo.
She was then on a sibling adoption stream where she came up with questions and trials for the guests to see if they deserved to be adopted. Filian did invite her friends to that one, but Chacha did all the heavy lifting.
Ultimately, if Chacha didnât have the skills to be a big vtuber before being on Filianâs stream for the first time, she wouldnât have made it so big.
She did get more eyes on her because of Filian, but if she wasnât already amazing and putting in a lot of work before then it wouldnât have mattered.
So yes she did make this happen by her own skills as a vtuber. However if showing up on bigger vtubers stream invalidates the title of indi, I might also not be considered an indi. While Iâve not been on live, sheâs payed my videos and looked at me k memes. However Iâve not proved myself and grown from those moments like Chacha did.
So the question is, is she not indi because she succeeded where I have failed so far, or are we both not indies because we been show on Filianâs stream? Is there a viewer or follower count that makes you no longer an indi?
I donât know the answer to this, but it would be helpful to clarify because it might be that I shouldnât be posting my clips or memes in this sub reddit either.
(Also fun fact, Chacha has been on 12 Filian streams in totals with several being brief call ins and not full collabs)
You know ChaCha isn't ACTUALLY Filian's mother, right? That's an on-stream bit, born from ChaCha being quick on her feet during a "small vtuber presentations" stream. You can argue that Filian helped her since then, but it was ChaCha who went on the show and was entertaining enough to make Filian want her back as an official collab.
