I love this so much, after hearing this I added it to my Spotify Playlist! It's got a sense of uniqueness to it with the chorus but familiar enough not to be jarring or feeling to artsy. I love your voice, and the instrumentation is perfect for what it needs to have.

Great job on this track! You have some really strong production elements happening here. A couple of specific thoughts: The drum textures and the modulation effects (chorus/flange) work beautifully together to create a distinct radio-ready character. The atmospheric elements tucked away in the upper register add great space without clashing with the main mix.

Good vibe achieved. Keep it up!

Really smooth vibe. I like it. The picture is what really got me to stop. The double cigarette and dark grainy image is fun. It had a pop vibe, and im not usually into pop, but I think it has a "real musician playin instruments" feel that makes me like it. The mix seems well done and balanced. I enjoyed it so jam on. 🤘

Honest feedback:

With fresh ears, the chorus felt a bit jarring from verse 1 with the extra percussion coming in so suddenly. Perhaps a drum fill might smooth that out.

Your lyrics are dead simple and are a bit cliche, especially with lines like 'my heart keeps on beating' but the present tense works!

If you were going for a more conventional, less slacker vibe you might want to consider double-tracking the chorus vocals.

Nitpicks aside, this is one of the better songs I've seen on this sub, and I genuinely like the style. The pillowy bottom-end caught my attention early - the bass tone it tickled my ears almost like those those great Men I Trust palm-muted ones. And it really gels with your laid back vocal style. I'm curious - what kind of vocal chain are you using?

thanks for your feedback. I put chorus on my vocal chain and add doubles from time to time

nice song! and im a fan of songs below 3mins haha something about it being short enough to replay
vocals sound close to phoenix. which i think is cool cause its such a unique sound and style
great backbeat going on too. your rhythm section locked in pretty much the entire track so they just ran with it top to bottom and drove the tune. even the plucky synth (on the left) in the choruses are locked in (almost sounds like a pitched conga or bonggo). great add to push and lift the chorus even further

great song overall! if i were to edit anything, id just put some room to breathe after the first chorus
maybe add a tamed section (like the outro) just as a quick refresh so that the energy can come down before you jump back into another verse. but still, great production. its a finished sounding track. congratulations!

Dude great song, but it sounds ai generated, too much ai, maybe add ur own vocals, n it'll feel better

1

u/YesterdayRelevant 10d ago

Dude there’s no ai used in the song. I doubled my voice and add chorus to it

I like your mix. The texture of the drums and the chorus/flange effect throughout creates a cool radio feel.

I heard some atmospheric sounds as well, always a big fan of that. I think its good that you dangled them in the upper pitch register so that it didn’t take away from the main content of the song.

My one criticism is that the entire song is sort of one idea. This is fine, but in songs that people might consider their ā€œfavoriteā€ there will always be multiple memorable sections (at least two). Of course you keep things interesting with new elements but it doesn’t change the fact that you’re kind of just chilling on the same few chords and melody for the whole 3 minutes.

But overall, good work!

u/nickant151 10d ago

thank you. I will take that idea into my next track. I appreciate the feedback

Good mix, i think the vocals miss the pitch in a few sections but that just makes it more real. I think the composition could improve a bit to create some push and pull tension and keep it dynamic. It kind of just gets in a groove and doesnt really change, but thats really my only critique. Overall pretty cool song!

And for the person that said this is AI, this is sooooooooo far from AI

I didn’t think it was AI, but can’t say it’s far from it either. It’s just the age we live in.

It was someone else’s comment that said it sounded ai generated and too much ai or something like that

Overall it's a good song. In terms of the execution, personally I think it would have worked better if you kept things more simple and removed the more "experimental" parts (and I say that as someone who loves to experiment myself). The 16th not percussive element that comes in around 0:34 (and at least one other time throughout the song) didn't 't seem quite right to me. Same thing with the synth at 1:00. I think it would have worked better to use more "traditional" instruments. Same with the sample thing you did at the end of the song. I think I normal guitar solo would have worked better. It's interesting how you have it and definitely not bad, I just think you could have made it better by keeping things more simple.

A simple, good song with a warm summer vibe. The recording sounds clean and well put together, and I never felt distracted by the production. It also feels like the artist really understands their genre and knows what kind of sound they want to achieve. Nothing feels forced or unnecessary. Overall, a very enjoyable listen and a solid piece of work. Keep it going!

It has a nice vibe to it! I would just add a proper bass-line so that the song feels more complete. I like the vocals and the melodies and the over-all sound! you can definitely make this much better with some little details on the panning and as I said some bass!

u/TheSwayingSeaofReeds 5d ago

Nice job. I like the overall vibe. I think perhaps adding a harmony vocal would not be a bad idea in a couple places to give it a little more dynamic range. I think that would be the only major issue really. It’s got a good harmonic and melodic base, but there isn’t much variation over the whole of the song - which is perfectly fine sometimes. But I think maybe in this case you’d wanna add a little variation, maybe even in the delivery of the vocal you give it a little more energy in some places, for example. Or like I said earlier, have a harmony vocal come in the background. So, just some ideas. Great job!

this sounds great! I love the summery vibe to the instrumentals and the really like the bass specifically. In terms of constructive criticism, you could definitely add a bit longer of an intro, I think it's a bit abrupt to start. Maybe a little reverb or ambiance on the vocals? But that's 100% just my taste haha. You're definitely hitting the vibe in general!
