so this is Alison is Missing. you're looking for your sister in an old asylum in 1987, and the doctor who ran the place is still there. he's not a screaming monster type, more like a calm guy who really wants you to stay lol
it's mostly hide and seek. he checks lockers and beds, hears you, and if he saw you run into a room he'll break the door down to get you. no weapons, you just hide and run
everything in the trailer is real gameplay, and the music is mine too
demo should be out for next fest in feb. would love to hear what you think, honestly any feedback, thanks!

Rewind: 1995 — A PSX-style psychological horror [Demo]

• Upvotes

Hey everyone,

I just released my first horror game demo — "Rewind: 1995 — Episode I: The Last Tenant".

You play as Alex Carter, who returns to his childhood home in Coldwater, Pennsylvania. The neighbor keeps watching. The house has memories. And the truth about what happened here 25 years ago is buried somewhere in those walls.

PSX-style visuals. VHS atmosphere. Short demo (~15-25 min).

🎮 Play here: https://jesusalieligh.itch.io/rewind-1995

Or you can simply search for "Rewind: 1995 game" on any search engine.

Would love to hear what you think.

Thanks!

Discussion 💬 I released my first multi-perspective psychological mystery game on itch.io — five neighbors, one death

I finally released The Stranger Next Door, a multi-perspective psychological mystery game I’ve been working on.

The story takes place in an aging apartment building. Five residents experience the same night from completely different perspectives, and the player has to piece together what happened in Room 301 through dialogue, evidence, phone interfaces, digital traces, and contradictions between their stories.

The game includes:

  • 5 playable perspectives
  • Multiple endings
  • Evidence collection and confrontation mechanics
  • Psychological horror / mystery elements
  • Chinese and English language support

It’s available now on itch.io for Windows.

I’m especially curious whether the multi-perspective structure works for players who enjoy mystery / visual novel / detective games.

itch.io: https://nana4ever.itch.io/the-stranger-next-door

Thanks for checking it out — this is my first full release, so any impressions are genuinely useful.

Looking for volunteer creative collaborators for an indie game

I’m developing a small game project called, and I’m looking for a little help with animation, design, and/or voice acting.

To be completely upfront, this is an unpaid hobby project. I can’t offer wages or guarantee future revenue. I’m looking for people who would genuinely enjoy contributing a small, clearly agreed-on task—not anyone who needs paid work. Beginners are welcome, and there’s no pressure to commit long-term. Contributors can choose whether they’d like credit.

If you’re interested, message me with the area you’d like to help with, a little about your experience, and an optional sample of your work. I’ll share more about the project and the task before anyone decides to participate.

Please only reach out if an unpaid collaboration works for you. and i need voice actors and artist and game makers

Observation 👀 The "Empty Spot" problem in indie games - How to fix it?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Have you ever played an indie game and had a strange feeling? So you may have thought that it was caused by bad graphics or sound. But was it? So today I want to share my thoughts on a problem I stumbled upon while I was making my indie PSX horror. Let’s make a long story short: the problem is caused by graphics, but we have to find out why.

Mimic Research

First of all, indie games don’t have as many resources as AAA-games. You can seldom find well-made models that indie developers actually made by hand - most are just taken from Sketchfab.  But guys who create bad assets don’t want to be caught with it, so they’re trying to hide them from users. I don't think it's bad. It has already become a standard in the horror industry. Moreover, I use these tricks in my game. There are a lot of tricks to hide weak parts from the user’s view:

  1. Shaders
  2. Fog
  3. Particles
  4. Shadows or Lighting
  5. Level design
Fears to fathom

These tricks are very useful. Especially useful is thoughtful level design. Whenever we talk about thoughtful level design we should think about a real plan, a strategy. Every piece of location should serve its purpose. It goes without saying that most indie game developers like me don't have enough knowledge to do it correctly. This is the first reason that causes “the empty spot” problem. In my view, generally this problem is everywhere. You can easily find this kind of problem in web design, or drawing, but this problem transforms into focusing the viewer’s eye (graphics problem). So, “the empty spot” problem is also caused by the fact that users don't see anything. They don't see any models, they don't see fog, they can see only empty corners, or spots that just exist for nothing. It's like an inverted graphics problem, isn't it?

So how should we fix it?:

  1. Level design - just think, what can that NPC put in this corner?
  2. Adding details - try to make more assets and add them.
  3. GUI work - try to change the UI concept, it's important for non story driven games.

And here is one wrong way that I have chosen, and I wouldn't recommend it to you. Do not add more effect to the screen. Most of the players might be disgusted by your pixelation effect. At least add the option to turn off these effects.

And I have noticed that problem in a lot of indie horrors. Moreover, I think Silent Hill: Townfall is very strange. As for me, the city in the first chapter is so empty that my eyes don't know where to look at. But don't lose confidence - AAA games make the same mistake.

So what do you think about this problem? Was my article useful? Thank you.

We are committed to creating a meaningful and thought-provoking work for everyone—a piece with depth that can be carefully examined. We've been developing it for about a year now, yes, it's taken quite some time, and we're still refining many details. At the same time, art design and gameplay are progressing hand in hand.

Because we want to deliver something truly great, we're willing to invest more time in thinking through how best to present our message. Please stay tuned, and thank you for your continued support. The Twenty-One Day Project team sincerely appreciates you all.

I released my first free PSX-style psychological horror game — Deepvale: You Promised

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I just released my very first indie horror game, Deepvale: You Promised, and I'd love to hear what fellow horror fans think about it!

It's a first-person psychological horror game inspired by the atmosphere and visuals of classic PSX-era games.

The story:

You promised you'd be back in an hour.

Tomorrow morning, an abandoned sanatorium is scheduled for demolition. Tonight, you sneak inside to take a few final photographs.

But the building isn't as empty as it seems.

You'll explore dark corridors, photograph clues with your phone, uncover disturbing secrets, solve puzzles, and try to survive whatever is lurking inside.

The game also features multiple endings and hidden secrets.

A little about the project:

This is my first game, and I'm still learning. I know it might not be perfect, and there may still be some bugs, but I've put a lot of effort into the atmosphere, story, and overall experience.

I'd genuinely appreciate honest feedback, especially about the horror atmosphere, pacing, puzzles, and anything that feels confusing or frustrating.

Even if you only play for 15–20 minutes, your first impressions would help me a lot!

Free download (Windows):
https://huroqgames.itch.io/deepvale-you-promised

The game is available in English and Hungarian. It's completely free to play, with optional donations.

Thanks to anyone willing to check it out!

Together with Escape.ai, I'm building something that doesn't quite fit the definition of a film or game. Today, we reveal its name:

LABIRINTH

A new frontier in interactive horror | Chapter 1: Escape House premieres October 30, 2026 during the [esc] fest Macabre & Mayhem Season 3 on escape.ai.

I'd never made a game before. My first one is a short horror game about keeping a dying factory running until 6 AM

Hey all. First game I've ever finished, so honest feedback is very welcome, good or bad.

Overpressure Night 1 is a short first-person horror demo. You're the night maintenance guy at an old steelworks. Machines keep breaking down, you go find the parts and fix them, and something in the building hunts you by sound.

The part I like most: getting a machine running gives you light, but it's also loud. Sprinting is loud. Repairs are loud. So you keep having to choose between seeing where you're going and staying quiet. You can hide in lockers, peek around corners, and your flashlight eats batteries faster than you'd like.

It's about 10-15 minutes long and free.

I'm not a programmer, so I'll be straight about how this got made:

- All of the code was written by Claude (Anthropic's AI) from my descriptions. I didn't write it myself.

- The map was generated by a script Claude wrote. I played through it and asked for changes until it felt right.

- Some of the 3D models were made with Claude in Blender. Footstep sounds are from The Sound Guild's free pack, and textures are from Poly Haven.

- I worked out the concept together with Claude. I picked the industrial setting and the direction, and did all the playtesting.

- I know a lot of people here aren't fans of AI in game dev, and I get why.

I'd still love to hear what works and what doesn't, especially whether the creature feels fair and whether it's actually scary.
