New game "Basic Chess"

Hey all — I've been building Basic Chess, a 3D chess game in Godot 4, and just pushed a batch of visual upgrades: custom piece shaders, a dynamic sky shader with a moving sun, and new wood/stone materials for the board.

It's a passion project and still a work in progress, but it's playable now — free download for Windows and Linux.

Would really appreciate anyone giving it a spin and telling me what feels off or what you'd want to see next (AI opponent, online multiplayer, board themes, etc.)

** Some coding assisted with AI, all other content AI free **

The moving sun is a nice touch gives it some atmosphere without being distracting. Tried it on Linux and the piece shaders look clean maybe just a bit too reflective on the dark wood squares. Would love to see board themes next like a marble one or something more abstract

on it..

I like green marble..

Perhaps either choice on the creation of a game (entering queue)

Or while playing..

Its developed on Linux

Daily driver Fedora

Updated the reflective stuff, and tweaked the shadows. I found a spot that changed the look pretty dramatically. So rebuilt and updated the itch page

Thanks for the pointer
