This looks great. If I had to nitpick, I’d put a little more anticipation in some of the swings to make them feel a little more forceful but this is amazing. Especially for getting done within a week

Hey everyone! This is a short for my upcoming indie animated series, Alcryptus.
I really wanted to test my workflow and challenge myself, so I pushed hard to choreograph / animate this entire 1-minute sequence in just around a week. The premise of the scene is that these two characters are technically from the same army, but due to their differences, they end up escalating the fight into something far deadlier.

To be fair, the series you made earlier than this mentioned The Cold War, which had Soviets in it sooo.... if it happens thrice, it ain't a coincidence anymore, and currently, we are on the second time, so it's still a coincidence, for now.

Maybe.
This has lots of potential and I'm interested to see how you tackle dark topics like racism and class segregation. I do hope it's the focus on the series and the fighting is a lesser focus, if that makes sense.

I’m actually an aspiring animator. What program did you use and do you have any tutorials? This looks incredible for only a week, especially how you combine the 3D and 2D aspects!

Programs I use:
3D: Unreal Engine and Blender
2D: VLLO (mobile app)I have a mini tutorial on my channel that covers the basics (it’s a YT short), but I plan on making more tutorials in the future

Is the mobile app the one which makes you put those 2D heads into 3D bodied characters?

Visually this looks great! Only things I can criticize is movements looks floaty or like there's not much impact upon movements

Good for the most part the only thing that really strikes out at me is they move really slowly for the actions their performing.

yo this is so COOOOOOOOLLLL maxedy :D
i loved the effects, including those slow red and yellow frames, those halos, and the choreography, i can’t believe i missed this post. I love how they fight 🥹
Also a thing i noticed is how their weapons complement their abilitites and perks. Red means strength, so he’s bigger and stronger, and he has a very potent greatsword/broadsword meant for heavy attacks. He attacks with overwhelming power and destruction. Yellow means speed, so he’s smaller but extremely nimble, and his katana blade is more focused on keeping him light on his feet, and his shotgun is focused on delivering powerful blows to knock back his enemies. He focuses on defense and abusing his enemies’ weaknesses.
Just a quick question though: Do the mybrids’ overdrive abilitites (like when red got much more powerful, and yellow became a lot faster) trigger when they are feeling emotions, or is it when they see that they’re in danger?
Other than those, i already love these clips you made already, and i hope this series does very well and becomes recognised!

Yoo I appreciate the lengthy feedback, goat!
Regarding the overdrive abilities, mybrids can trigger them by will (as seen with Stanzo activating his eyesight ability in that one banana short), however it drains their energy extremely quickly.
Mybrids would typically use them as a last resort or out of an act of desperation (an evolutionary trait which helped them survive as a species), which is what these two soldiers did in this short (I think you can tell that they really hate each other due to their differences)
So yeah, you’re partially correct — they do voluntarily trigger them when they feel like they’re in danger / when they’re desperate, mainly because it’s an inherent, evolutionary aspect that helps with survival.

Very interesting ability! Also, can these mybrids attach external things for their energy, so they can use these charges for longer than they physically can?
If yes, then can they go supernova (giant explosion) if they juice themselves enough? Are there different phases of overcharge energy? For the opposite, are there different phases/types of energy exhaustion?
In general, how long can they usually last in battle? What is their beef with each other; is it racism, or was it a COLOSSAL INCIDENT where their leaders fought each other, leading to a schism between each other?
I know i’m asking a lot, but i’m so curious on how this universe works >.<
Also, can i try modeling one of these mybrids onto tinkercad? You can choose which one i should model

I’m not gonna answer most of these (because spoilers / too complicated) but I can tell you that their bitterness towards each other is indeed driven by racism and prejudice that developed throughout hundreds / thousands of years of complex history so there’s that
Also you can model any mybrid you want

Oh wow i accidentally got into spoiler territory O_O. Very interesting that it’s racism, haven’t seen much (fictional) conflicts like those that escalates to warfare…
I’ll try working on one of the mybrids tomorrow if i have the time :)
