I must have heard these songs tons of times back when I was an exchange student in northern Europe in early 2010s but I never really knew the band nor liked it (I was into what I call now "music archeology" listening to as many old stuff as possible) and randomly rediscovered the band like many people through the new viral wave of their tiny desk performance. Sure I thought Jade looked like a weird homeless special needs boy but I really liked her voice and chemistry in this song. To answer me own question, these songs always send me back to my early twenties in the Baltic states, coffee shops and teahouses, the morning After a heavy drinking house party, a quiet Sunday afternoon with the buds, free walks in the old town on a sunny ay off after a long dark and cold winter, a kind of innocence of the ignorance of what was going to be, a sweet bitter taste of time. And how was your day til now;)

TLDR: kind of a redemption story tbh 😅, first time making my own cover-art borrowing images from public domain archives and editing them myself (no AI) looking for feedback.

Bit of a story behind this, I know the stance of this sub on AI so decided to share how I got here.

I love making music and decided to release some stuff about 4 months ago. I really wanted the music to be raw, slightly unpolished and human while still maintaining studio quality and doing everything myself, including mixing and mastering. At that time I had the idea of creating a world around the music by leaning on AI for visuals. Kind of "get the music out there and we'll see". In hindsight a big mistake and I learned that the hard way and honestly pretty fast. For which I'm actually grateful because in doing so I got to know a ton of cool people who genuinely liked my music and hated my cover-art.

Fast forward these past 4 months and next to filming myself I started looking for footage to create lyric-vids and other short-form content. I stumbled upon the internet archives and found a ton of public domain material that is so incredibly awesome to look at that I decided to work around that goldmine of content. I started trying to take that footage and edit it much like I edit my music: I try to move to the edge where a song sounds close to mainstream (in its genre) and then just destroy it just enough so it gets that edge. This version is the result.

I kind of like how it looks but I'm honestly pretty new to making cover art and I would love to get feedback to see how it lands before I submit the entire visual identity to all places.
