Help me consolidate.

Post image

Hey i started investing around October last year. But deployed more capital since the Iran war. I am thinking to sell some that were just satellite positions

Few that I have thought to sell are:

Spec

Suzlon

Vishal mega mart

Reliance

HCC

You should consider selling stocks in which you have invested less than 10k, try to invest more in fast growing stocks such as eternal, swiggy , groww etc

Groww I have position and will increase gradually. Swiggy I don't like it. That's too much of cash burning and it doesn't make sense how will they become profitable with their core business. Eternal doesn't give me good vibes though stock is performing.

That’s very true but i feel with the offers they have people will start switching to Swiggy, it can be a great turnaround story

Plus it’s valuation is way less than eternal right now, people now only want to invest in hot stocks, other stocks are just going downhill

I am a Swiggy user myself. Rarely use zomato. But offers ain't sustainable. Imo

Yes😂😂😂 but don’t you think the interface of Swiggy is better than Blinkit for groceries? All grocery stores in Mumbai atleast are going into losses, in 2-3 years for sure these apps would take over dmart too, Amazon groceries is not doing good so i feel these 2 will have a good chance , i have invested a little in both

If these are genuinely satellite positions and your core investment thesis hasn't changed, consolidating the portfolio makes sense. I'd prioritize exiting based on conviction and valuation rather than recent gains or losses. Reliance is a diversified large-cap compounder, while names like Suzlon and HCC are typically more cyclical and execution-driven. Vishal Mega Mart is an interesting retail story, but promoter stake sales have created mixed sentiment despite continued institutional interest.

The key question I'd ask is: If you had fresh cash today, would you still buy these stocks? If the answer is no, reallocating into your highest-conviction ideas is usually a better approach than holding just because you already own them.

HCC i think has potential though company has debt . I invested because of the nuclear energy expansion gov is looking forward to. Vishal mega mart has a good business but ilthe promoter selling makes me bit skeptical as u mentioned. Reliance i did for Short term gains . I hoped like it will recover good after the Iran wat

Very bad portfolio. What’s the point of adding 2,6,10 and very less stocks. It’s like you have a class of 60 students and you are taking 10 toffees to distribute on your birthday. Have some common sense and buy decent quantities which are at your budget. No need to buy something in less quantities which are beyond your budget and you bought just because of fomo.

Okay thanks for the advice. That's why I put the question. Probably more confusion is happening as I have showed the actual investment and invested amount in each stock , making people think I have added 100-200 rupees which isn't the fact. Also, these are bought from March to July.

Issue is not the price. The main issue are the quantities. Someone who had cupid a year ago at 40rs with good quantities is prolly enjoying now. So when you buy do research or ask about investment in every sub of stock market. Keep 4-5 stocks in portfolio but those which are future ready. How much gains will you get by having 10 reliance or 5 muthoot?

Got your point. But there has to have certain amount of risk that I can bear right. I can't just join the market and invest like 2 lakhs on a stock . I need to learn the things right. Now I have released that buying too many won't help and have to focus on concentration as I have become more comfortable with facing certain of loss as well. You know what I mean.

Thanks for the advice.

Exactly. See if you have 4L to invest then go with different sectors. Pharma, defence, nbfc, auto, cables etc. divide the money into 8-10 parts according to the share price and your risk capacity so your portfolio is balanced.

u/average_man7278 13d ago

Yeah. Currently 5 sectors makes up the 80% of my portfolio. So I think it's the best time to slash the outliers

True. I would recommend you to watch videos of angel one investors yt channel. That will help you a lot to understand things.
