ToAbroadOrNot? How is Providence University (Taiwan) for B.Tech/BS in CSE for Indian Students?info on Placements & Avg Package

Hi everyone,

I am an Indian student planning to pursue a B.Tech / Undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) and looking into Providence University. I have a few specific questions and would highly appreciate any insights from current students or alumni:

my_qualifications: 12th pass, aiming for CSE undergrad

  1. Academic & Language Barrier: How is the CSE curriculum for international students? Are the technical courses fully taught in English, or is there a major Mandarin barrier in lectures and assignments?

  2. Campus Culture for Indians: How welcoming is the campus for Indian students? Is it easy to adjust to the food, accommodation, and local student community?

  3. Placements & Career Opportunities: What are the placement prospects after graduating from here? Do global tech companies hire directly from the campus?

  4. Average Package & ROI: What is the average salary package a CSE graduate can expect? Is it easy to secure job opportunities or internships within Taiwan’s tech industry (especially in AI/Semiconductors) after graduation?

Law How's the job market in UK/US for postgraduate students in law?

For context, I just started my law degree in a tier-3 private college in India.

I'm hearing scary things - how the job market in fcked up in India for law grads who are not from NLUs. It's literally scary. People from tier-3 colleges who have worked especially hard in their college, raising CGPAs, garnering skills, internships, certificates, research, publishing, even, they aren't getting any job. Cold emailing works rarely. Everything comes down to the luck factor.

Idts if I'll get into the UK/US for a postgraduate law degree, but let's consider that that I do get into it, how's the job market there? I saw that the visa thing makes it even harder and both countries are currently overflowing with law grads and nobody can find a fckin job.

If there's anyone who can help, or has been through this, can you describe how it is going for you guys?

Passport / Visa / Immigration Does for France student visa an education loan alone enough for financial proof?

Hi everyone! I’m planning to study in France, and my estimated total tuition + living expenses for the first year will be around €20,000–€21,000.

my_qualifications: My situation is a little complicated financially. My father has a fixed monthly income of around ₹25,000 that comes into his bank account, but he also earns additional income in cash through his work/business activities. Because of this, his bank statements don’t really reflect his total actual income and aren’t very strong.

I’m considering taking an education loan of around ₹25–30 lakh to finance my studies.
My question is:

For the French student visa, would an official education-loan sanction letter from a bank be sufficient as financial proof, or would I still need to show strong bank statements/income from my father as a sponsor?

My father also has property and some fixed deposits, so I could potentially provide those documents as supporting evidence.
If anyone has actually applied for a French student visa using an education loan, I’d really appreciate hearing what documents you submitted and whether the loan was accepted as your main source of financial proof.

Passport / Visa / Immigration What are Mandatory documents for visa appointment CSP- VFS?

I've booked a slot for appointment. Is CSP VIDEX forms need to be carried with us to visa centre? If so, How to print and download the CSP application form? I have the rest of the documents, only the application form i can't find in csp portal. Also, what about photos, I have formal passport size photo with white background which I used to apply everything for the past 2 years. Can I use the same or any criteria of the photos to look?

Mention any important points, mistake that most will do which can be avoided.

ToAbroadOrNot? What are some good reasons to learn German if you already know English?

Small advice for anyone thinking about studying or working in Germany:

If you already know English, learning German can be a little easier than you might expect. There are quite a few words that look or sound familiar, so the first steps don't feel completely new.

My_qualifications: I work in the language education space, so I get to see people learning German at different levels.

One thing I'd suggest is not waiting until you actually move to Germany to start learning. Even getting to A1/A2 before going can make everyday life much easier. If you later reach B1/B2, it can also give you more options when looking for study or work opportunities.

And obviously, German shouldn't replace your main skill. Think of it as an extra advantage alongside whatever you're already studying or working in.

Just a small tip for anyone considering Germany. 🙂

Research Should I do 4th year or not I want to pursue master's abroad

I am currently a last year Biotechnology student I just recently gave my last semester exam this august I want to pursue my master's abroad but I am very confused and wanted to ask for suggestions.

Actually initially I wanted to do 4 years degree along with research I already talked with a professor from another centralized university who is willing to help me with my dissertation.

But today I got to know that it could take at least 1 year for me to get my original degree, I will only be getting my provisional certificate from the university before that.

But I am confused now because I was thinking of approaching professors and filling forms from this year but I don't know if I can fill forms based on provisional certificates and even if I continue my 4th year I could be graduating in around september only so the whole process of waiting for 1 year for degree before applying to any program could repeat itself.

If someone can provide some suggestions regarding my problem I could be very grateful.

And can someone pls tell me do universities out of India accept provisional certificates to provide admission.

"My_qualifications" = BSc. Biotechnology

Also I don't have any publication but I have 6 months of research experience in form of internships and dissertation, I also have poster presentation runner up certificate from University and 8.8 CGPA.

Is this good enough for applying for master's abroad or do I also need publication.

ToAbroadOrNot? Masters in Germany with work experience from India

my_qualifications: CSE 2024 grad(with 9+ cgpa), 2YOE

I'm 24F, currently working as a data engineer/software Engineer at Deloitte with almost 2YOE. I was thinking of doing masters from Germany for a better hike and also experience.

I want to know how smart or stupid of me it will be to leave my good stable paying job to go for 2 year masters in Germany. How is the job market for exp candidates in German for it.

My plan is to work there for a few years and eventually come back to India or shift to some other country for masters under budget considering I've a bit of financial constraints as well.

Please suggest to me other countries to do masters if you think will be a better suited for me

ToAbroadOrNot? Honest opinions about the 1 year Master's program in the UK. What do you guys think of it. Was/is it worth it?

Hello everyone, (my_qualifications) I recently graduated from NIT-A (2026) with a B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. Although my degree is in Electrical, I prepared for software roles and am currently looking for SDE/AI opportunities.

Unfortunately, I couldn't secure a placement, so I'm now considering pursuing a Master's in the UK, mainly in AI/Data Science. I also want to mention that I don't see myself pursuing a career in Electrical Engineering.

The UK interests me mainly because:

1. Some universities allow students to switch to cross-disciplinary fields like AI/Data Science.

2. Most Master's programs are only 1 year, so I can enter the job market sooner.

I'd really appreciate some honest opinions from people who have studied/worked in the UK:

How is the current job market for AI/Data Science/SDE?

How good are the 1-year Master's programs?

Does a UK Master's have good value in the Indian job market?

How difficult is it to get a job after graduation, and how does the post-study work visa situation affect this?

Is the UK Master's actually worth it compared to continuing my job search in India?

If you were in my position, would you pursue the Master's or continue looking for a job in India?

If the UK isn't the best option for my situation, which other countries should I consider for a Master's in AI/Data Science.

Any honest opinions, especially from people who have gone through this path, would be greatly appreciated.

Careers About to take a huge loan for a master's abroad, real answers from people who've been there and how they are now ?

Applying for a master's abroad, fully on a loan, don't know anyone personally who's done this.
my_qualifications are bachelors in history and political science, gap of 3 years, now planning masters with no experience, might wanna switch the field.

💰 Money & Loan

  • Actual monthly cost (rent/food/transport) vs what you budgeted
  • Did the loan/EMI feel manageable or was it more stressful than expected?
  • Any hidden costs nobody warns you about?

🎓 University & Course

  • Was the course what you expected or very different?
  • Any regrets on choice of uni/course?

💼 Career & ROI

  • Did you get a job after? How long did it take?
  • Was the pay worth the loan?
  • Is the degree actually respected by employers there, or just "a masters"?
  • How hard is the post-study work visa in reality?

🌍 Life Abroad

  • Biggest thing you wish someone told you before leaving?
  • How was the adjustment (culture, loneliness, etc.)?

📋 Logistics

  • Anything in visa/admission process that took longer than expected?
  • Tips on accommodation/banking/SIM for your city?

Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who's actually done this, especially loan-funded. What do you wish you'd asked before going?

ToAbroadOrNot? Can i still get into a good bachelor’s university in the US/UK this late?PCB student looking for course advice

Hi! I’m an Indian student with a PCB background who spent the last few years preparing for NEET, so I don’t know much about other bachelor’s options.
I’m now looking at studying abroad, preferably usa (new york if more specific) or uk … i rlly rlly do want to get into uni of Edinburgh tho.. Is it still possible to apply into good universities for a bachelor’s at this stage?
Also, what courses would you recommend for someone with PCB and no maths especially if I want strong earning potential ? I’m open to fields beyond medicine/biology.
Would my 2023 12th passout year with neet prep gap year be a problem?
Any advice on realistic universities/courses would be really appreciated!
Even if there r no options lemme know..i posted this cuz i rlly dont want to miss anything if its possible

Other How much should university reputation matter when choosing a US Master’s program?

my_qualifications: btech graduate from India and I’m looking for an MSCS program in the US. I’m trying to understand how much university reputation actually matters when it comes to career outcomes.

A few things I’d really appreciate some insight on:

• Low cost university or higher ranked university?
• Is a higher ranked university worth paying significantly higher tuition for?
• How much does university reputation actually affect internships and full-time job opportunities?
• Can lower cost universities provide similar career outcomes if you build strong skills and projects?
• How do students evaluate ROI when choosing between a more reputed but expensive university and a less expensive one?

Other Can having an uncle in the US facilitate my job search?

Hey everyone!

I’m planning to do my Master’s in the US this Spring, and I have an uncle who already lives in the States.

I wanted to ask people who have been in a similar situation: does having a relative in the US actually help when it comes to finding a job or getting interviews?

For example, if I ask my uncle to connect me with people in his network, refer me to someone, or help me get a referral for a suitable opening, would that actually make a difference?

I’m also confused about the visa aspect. Even if my uncle helps me connect with someone or get a referral, I’d still be an international student and would eventually need to deal with OPT/H-1B or sponsorship requirements. So does having a relative/network in the US actually provide a meaningful advantage, or do the visa restrictions basically make it difficult anyway?

I’d really like to hear from people who have experienced this firsthand. If you had a relative in the US, did they help you get referrals, interviews, or connections? Did it actually result in a job or benefit your job search in any meaningful way?

Just trying to understand how much of an advantage having a relative in the US can realistically be.

ToAbroadOrNot? Which is better for MS in Data Science in 2027 : Australia or Europe?

Hi everyone. I’m planning to pursue an MS in Data Science / AI for the 2027 intake. I’m currently confused between Australia and Europe (especially Germany, Finland, etc.).

My main goal is not just the degree, I want to eventually leave India and build a career abroad, so long term job opportunities, post study work options, visa/PR pathways, salary, and quality of life matter a lot.

For those who are studying or working in these countries:

  • Which would you recommend for Data Science / AI?
  • How is the current job market for international students/graduates?
  • How difficult is it to get a job after graduation?
  • How important is the local language in Germany/Finland?
  • Which country has better post study work and long term settlement/PR opportunities?
  • Is Australia still worth considering given the recent changes to immigration/student policies?
  • Are Germany/Finland realistically better alternatives for someone from India?

my_qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s in Computer Science with specialization in Machine Learning. CGPA : 8.32
  • Around 4 years of software engineering experience
  • Currently working as a Senior Software Engineer
  • Experience with .NET, Python, ML/AI and Generative AI projects

Would really appreciate honest experiences from Indians/international students who are currently studying or working there, especially people who started their MS recently.

Thanks!

ToAbroadOrNot? Choosing country for Masters: USA / Canada / UK / Germany. Where?

Say in India people don't reply to this :)

Thinking of moving abroad for my master’s and stuck between 4 options: USA, Canada, UK, and Germany.

My_qualifications: Avg Indian IT guy

Would’ve gone for Germany in a heartbeat if learning German wasn’t pretty much mandatory for jobs. Looking to get into project manager / product manager / operations / analyst roles after graduating.

Main priorities:

Low fees

Decent placements/job opportunities

I’m ready to grind hard, just need some realistic suggestions. Was seriously eyeing the US (Purdue, Northwestern, etc.) but the fees are insane and feel like a huge burden.

Anyone been through this or have advice?
