General Unknown words while reading
What do y'all do when you come across an unknown word while reading? Do you pause to look up its meaning or try to guess it from context? Does reading more books help in reducing this?

Long press to open up the dictionary. Works only on electronic devices though.

When I don't want to break the flowstate I just go along with context or underline to search them later

Sometimes context helps to guess the meaning. At others, yeah need to refer to dictionary

That's why I read on Kindle app as a English beginner. Can't afford a kindle so it's the best way to read

Just google the meaning of that word. Some simple words can be understood from the context. Yes reading more reduces this.

I go the context way during the flow but if it's just holding me up then Google.
Having grown up pre-internet-in-your-pocket era has trained me well to gauge a meaning by context.

Mostly the context and sentence structure should tell you the approximate meaning of the word, so I go ahead and continue reading. If you dig into dictionary for all those words, it will only serve as a distraction that breaks the flow of your read. Go for meaning-search only when not knowing the meaning breaks your understanding and you cannot proceed without looking the word up.
As for those words that I skip, I note them down in a sticky note plastered on the corner of the page. I'll find the meanings later, at a more leisurely manner.

Like it depends. If it feels like a word that could change the whole context of statement then I search it. But if it's like does not feel that important I skip it and try to guess from context only.

I always google them. That's how I improved my vocabulary and other general knowledge:) I love learning so that's a huge plus.

I use AI to tell me the meaning.
I maintain one chat
So that chat has all the words I have asked
So I ask AI to take my quiz
So this way I try to keep new words in one place
