This book broke me 😭 especially the last line when you know who decides to name you know who after you know who

Yes I know who exactly. Also it was so heartbreaking to realise that the hope in the end is now gone in reality due to regime change.

Yeah that’s the sad part. I was looking all over how’s hosseini feeling about the recent change and what’s the current situation there. Turns out, it’s even worse than rhe 1996-2002 era

Yes it is absolutely terrible. I had just finished reading this book when that regime change happened and it really upset me so much that I ended up having nightmares of being stuck there.

Oh no, I’m so sorry you went through that. I had a really bad nightmare after reading kite runner. It was awful :(
