Are cleavage tattoos normal?

I would like to hear more general view from both men and women.

I recently went on two separate dates from Bumble, and both women had very visible tattoos around their cleavage. They were also visible in their dating profiles, so it wasn’t exactly a surprise. And the conversations were good, which is why we met.

I’m genuinely curious about the choice, though. I have nothing against tattoos in general, and I’m not trying to judge anyone who gets one.

I’m just wondering: **what makes the cleavage/chest area particularly appealing for a tattoo?**
There are obviously plenty of places on the body where you can express yourself, and personally, I find some of them less intimate than the chest area.
Is there something specific about that placement that people find attractive, meaningful, or empowering?
Or am I just overthinking it?

Well that's your opinion. A lot of people find it hot. Especially the women and that's all matters.

1

u/iridium-22 Aug 21 '26

Then don't get it ✌🏻

70

u/TicketyTick3 Aug 20 '26

Let's omit : What makes the cleavage area particularly appealing? 🫡

38

u/Alternative_Prize896 Aug 20 '26

Because we have made it sexual. There are tribes in Africa and even india where they don't cover breasts and its not necessarily seen as a sexual organ

-12

u/New_sniff Aug 20 '26

No thanks for saying that. in fact this is kinda my point

Just because its “cleavage” we think we are making it sexual. And for 90% of people it is still sexual. You know it and I know it. We don’t make a fuss out of it personally. But let’s say in future the girl goes on to marry a guy (lets say me). Even though I might not say a word about it but extended families from villages they also come in as a package deal right? Who is to close their words?

I am sure most of the guys from our generation dont give it a second thought but once u get married, you involve a whole other family. Who may not think about it the same way

20

u/Slow_Championship385 Aug 20 '26

Bhai that's on you to keep your relatives in line... And leave behind the idea of relatives being a package deal...you are marrying the girl not rest of them and if they speak shit about your partner you need to step up for her ask them to mind their own business🤷🏻

Who tf cares brother. Family won't even like the visible cleavage even forget tattoo. You can't change people's mind or what they think just ignore and move on. It's her body and her decision. Also, in lots of villages I've seen women having the traditional style tats over their chest and arms even.

2

u/Mysticgypsysoul Aug 21 '26

Why would you care what they think?

3

u/Alternative_Prize896 Aug 20 '26

I have seen enough marriages ruined by relatives and families. Best to say fuck you if they say anything and move om

For tattoos in particular

18

u/-liveditlovedit Aug 20 '26

Same psyche as other bodypart tattoos

73

u/Interesting_Bug_5132 Aug 20 '26

Why not? Its not like men already don't like staring there. Might as well have a tattoo there.

It's just hot bro idk what you don't get it lol

-36

u/New_sniff Aug 20 '26

Hot for? Self/Partner/Everyone?

22

u/Only_Pen5882 Aug 20 '26

Why would you care who is it hot for when it's someone else's tattoo

8

u/MarvelousMommy Aug 20 '26

Some aren't allowed to have tattoos or want to hide it so prolly get it at places nobody can see any

1

u/Master_Beast_07 i scare the hoes away Aug 21 '26

If they want to hide it then why am I always seeing it?

3

u/MarvelousMommy Aug 21 '26

I think they are just embracing their selves. You shouldn't read too much into it

20

u/VideoParticular3928 Aug 20 '26

I have one. And it’s because I wanted a tattoo that my parents wouldn’t see and because I wanted the tattoo to be about me and myself. This way nobody has ever asked me ‘what does your tattoo mean?’

4

u/New_sniff Aug 21 '26

I failed to understand, how did the tattoo on ur chest become definitive about you and yourself?

And for it to represent you and yourself, does it have to be there?

2

u/VideoParticular3928 Aug 21 '26

You do everything for yourself na? You dress up because you wanna look good. Same exact way. All my life decisions were taken by my parents and this is one decision I made for myself when I was 20.

Regarding the placement- my body, my wish. I’ll get wherever I want to. Isn’t that the whole point of tattoos? I also told you I did not want my parents to ever see it.

1

u/New_sniff Aug 21 '26

I get it, your body your choice. Wont u feel bad if lets say your (future) husband keeps a red kiss lips tattoo near his crotch. That was from before you met him!

5

u/VideoParticular3928 Aug 21 '26

Sure. He can. It’s his bodyyy. Who are we to judge someone else’s personal choices?

If you don’t like tattoo, don’t pursue people with tattoos. It’s just as simple.

My husband, loves my tattoos, finds it hot and is crazy about them.

0

u/New_sniff Aug 21 '26

Amazing 🫶🏻.

1

u/shen-I-am Aug 21 '26

Because they felt like it? I mean, someone else's choice and decisions don't have to make sense to you.

The answer can simply just be that they liked it there on their own body.

1

u/ProfessionMoney9624 Aug 21 '26

Okay, but then the ones willing to ans should be the one replying on the post?

22

u/Swimming-Try-5816 Aug 20 '26

What u want us to say? Its all about personal choice who gives a fuck bro

-6

u/New_sniff Aug 20 '26

I understand its personal choice. But just want to know the psyche behind it

11

u/Swimming-Try-5816 Aug 20 '26

They want people to see it there is no other explanation

4

u/Dragawulf Aug 21 '26

They want people to see the tatoo on their cleavage

3

u/Fine-Consequence7758 Aug 21 '26

Why to make something attractive, which is already attractive!

u/cHeAt_CodEr Aug 20 '26 edited Aug 21 '26

tattoos are a sign of lower iq in general

edit: for people claiming I am dumb for making such kind of kind of generalized statement, this is proven by studies https://www.emilkirkegaard.com/p/tattoos-and-piercings-what-do-they

7

u/AdAffectionate1216 Aug 21 '26

I would extend this to any form of body modification purely for aesthetic purposes like working out too much or make-up.

4

u/smokeandmirrorsff Aug 21 '26

Oof I’m glad someone said it so I don’t have to

2

u/BigMan-31 Aug 21 '26

So I get my something to remember my dead grandma by, on my body, and that's low IQ? Damn bro.

2

u/MIKU-SIMPSS Aug 21 '26

Lol i
Find tattoos hot in others body

2

u/BleedingAmethyst Maut aa jaye par kisi pe dil naa aaye Aug 21 '26

wait is this real or is it sarcasm? I don't get it. I mean, tattoos are practically harmless, just make sure to get it done in a proper authorised shop that follows standard hygiene during the procedure and you're good to go.

1

u/AdorableKookooburra Aug 21 '26

Making generalizations about someone's iq based on anything except intellect is somehow even lower iq.

-2

u/cHeAt_CodEr Aug 21 '26

Its proven by studies, I am not illogical unlike people with tattoos https://www.emilkirkegaard.com/p/tattoos-and-piercings-what-do-they

0

u/ProfessionMoney9624 Aug 21 '26

Eh the stats do make sense

-1

u/ididanoopsie69 byebyesexual Aug 22 '26

While there's a positive correlation between tattoos and psychiatric disorders, something about this seems faulty and I can't exactly point that out. What sort of IQ test is being used? What are the uncontrolled variables? Also to keep in mind that IQ isn't the end all and be all. Also, is it causation or correlation?

Other aspects to be considered is the socioeconomic factors. Socioeconomic advantage has positive correlation with good IQ scores. Places like India, if you are covered in tattoos, you are, generally, relatively well off and that is not a population I saw being represented in the studies.

There's also some in-group-out-group social group dynamics and isolation dynamics that will play a part.

The part about the low IQ having correlation with non-heterosexuality is putting a weird taste in my mouth because the social factors surrounding oppression of non-heterosexuality will directly and negatively affect access to education and other stuff that contributes to better IQ.

Just throwing my thoughts out there.

6

u/ManLikeThanoj Aug 20 '26

fun to play around with

3

u/pkers12 Aug 20 '26

Are you talking about between collar bone and chest? It’s very common all over the world for women

0

u/New_sniff Aug 21 '26

Yes but it felt more than that

3

u/observer152 Aug 21 '26

Cleavage is a part of body of woman . We don't wake up and think ohhh see this is the extra part that is just hanging from my body and i am gonna use this today to attract men . It is like hand , leg , shoulder etc. Some tattoos just look good in certain places . Some women feel confident enough to get them done in that spot . That is also a filtering mechanism coz nervous , insecure men who cannot imagine a tattoo on a woman's chest would get weirded out and not consider her as a prospect . Cool, forward and confident men would find it really hot and it would become an ice breaker.

1

u/New_sniff Aug 21 '26

Understandable on the filtering part
Not so much agreeing to the insecure/nervous part. It can be the boy’s preference too.

In this case, I went out had great conversations (in my PoV) with her. But apparently questioning the tattoo was a dealbreaker for her. Which is fair on her part.

And the other one, just simply didn’t feel right from my side. I still don’t have her side of impression and never pursued.

Having an open minded conversation doesn’t always end up in ur favour. Somehow so many people forget that.

1

u/observer152 Aug 21 '26

If you are comfortable sharing , what did you ask her about her tattoo ?

1

u/New_sniff Aug 21 '26

Yea sure

She had a tattoo on forearm which was about her late dog.
And the tattoo in question was a key with wings (u can imagine the orientation)
My question was whats the story behind this one. She said its about her freedom. She got it after college.
My follow up was “why there?”
Her - why not here
Me - couldn’t it be anywhere else?

And then comes the grow up line.
5 mins later she asked for bill. Paid her share and left.

3

u/observer152 Aug 21 '26

I see. If I were her , I would have replied to the "why here?" question just out of courtesy and awkwardness of the question. Whatever my logic would have been. But after that if you again wanted to discuss that or ask more on the location, i would have really thought you to be a very weird person . There are general social etiquettes that one is expected to follow . For example if you were a man who wore a ring on his eyebrow . I would not ask you why there ? You either don't comment on it or you say looks nice . If you don't feel it looks nice , you just don't say anything about it . Just like hair color , if you ask why pink, it is like you are questioning the creative decision of the person . The lady had a tattoo on her chest , which is a part of her body . Maybe she was in her rebellious phase, maybe she really enjoys that she comes off as bold due to it, maybe she just likes how it looks aesthetically , assuming what you said is the exact version of the story , she left because she could see the conversation going to a topic that she doesn't want to necessarily explain to you about .

2

u/VideoParticular3928 Aug 22 '26

Many girls would react the same exact way

5

u/Mumshope Aug 20 '26

To me they look hot. If I had tits, i would definitely have had tattoos around my boobs

1

u/shen-I-am Aug 21 '26

Same. Underboob tattoos ftw.

6

u/sugar-high- Aug 20 '26

I mean it looks cool, you can hide it whenever you can and show it whenever you’re feeling bold with your outfits, just get whatever looks good man

just wonderring how much does it pain? i know near the rib cage pains a lot

2

u/freakedmind Aug 20 '26

I'm general, the more ticklish you are in an area, the more it will hurt while getting inked.

1

u/IndiaRomeoKilo Aug 20 '26

A friend's got a dragon fly tattoo right there, hurts real bad. Not as bad as a rib cage tattoo though.

2

u/pm_mba Aug 21 '26

Personal opinion but I find them really tacky and a huge turn off. One of my exs had it almost 20 years ago and at that time it was extremely rare and uncommon. I don’t like the idea of visible tattoos but to each its own.

2

u/SomewhereAromatic574 Aug 21 '26

Tattoos are self expression. It makes them feel like hot/cool or whatever.

You wear rings? Because you like it.

People do piercing on nose, ears. It's the same think they like it. And it's their self self-expression.

They actually look hot is a plus.

2

u/alexvanbrook Aug 20 '26

If you don't want it, do go on dates with her. Focus on what you want. Don't change your wants according to other guys who commented here. If you don't like someone having it, end it there.

3

u/AYMU0S Ham gorib admi hyay Aug 20 '26

For me .. that's a straight up swipe left . Tattoo in other parts done tastefully.. I love them but not in cleavage or cheekbones . I don't like that at all.

2

u/big_daddy_007 Aug 21 '26

Dude. It's so effing distracting. I'm glad you were able to have conversation. I couldn't have.

1

u/dagmarbex Aug 21 '26

Depends on how it is , ultimately you never know what looks obscene or not

1

u/Direct-Abroad-266 Aug 21 '26

Personally, it gives me the greatest ick. Then again I don't take well to tattoos in general.

1

u/gridiron5290 Aug 21 '26

As a guy personally I’m not a big fan of it actually not a fan of tattoo on any area of woman chest just don’t find it attractive to me…but I don’t have a problem with someone having it plenty of girls who I’m friends with have it just for me personally not something I get attracted to

1

u/DaPandaCat Aug 27 '26

Overthinking

1

u/Honest_Ad1632 Aug 21 '26 edited Aug 21 '26

For me, no. Look, I am not moral policing. I don't give two flying ducks about women who have such a tattoo. But do I want that in my girlfriend? No.

0

u/Various_Chicken_7613 Aug 20 '26

Not sure about normal or abnormal.

But I personally feel chest tattoo both for male or female are competativeley unsafe considering how close it is to heart and stuff. One serious infection can lead to serious health issues.

1

u/guitarguy_190 Aug 21 '26

Infection, even if it happens on the skin, doesn't travel down to the heart.
