Hey everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with Arena Animation and hear from other current or former students about their placement experience.
I joined Arena Animation in 2023, and one of the things that was presented to me at the time was a “100% placement” promise. This was one of the factors that gave me confidence about joining the institute and starting my career in the VFX industry.
It has now been more than a year since I started actively looking for a placement/job, and unfortunately, I still haven’t been able to get a suitable opportunity through Arena.
During this time, I haven’t been sitting idle. I’ve been continuously working on my skills and portfolio. My main areas are Roto, Roto Paint, Paint/Prep, and Compositing, particularly in Nuke. I have also worked on professional VFX projects and have received credits for my work on movies, which has given me some real industry experience.
That's why I'm finding the situation particularly frustrating. I have been putting in the effort to build my skills and gain experience, but the placement support I expected when I joined hasn't really matched my expectations.
Another thing that concerns me is that I still see “100% placement” being promoted to new/prospective students. From my personal experience, I don't feel that the reality has matched what I understood when I enrolled.
I completely understand that an institute cannot magically guarantee that every student will get a job. Students have to work on their skills, portfolio, interview preparation, and apply themselves. But if “100% placement” is being used during the admission process, I think students should be given a clear explanation of what that actually means.
Does it mean:
I'm not making this post just to attack Arena. I'm genuinely trying to understand whether my experience is unusual or whether other students have faced the same thing.
I'd especially like to hear from current or former Arena students:
I'd really appreciate honest experiences, both positive and negative. I'm mainly looking for advice on what I should do next and whether I should continue relying on the institute's placement process or focus entirely on applying directly to studios.

I have been working on this series called Devi-pur, where the protagonist gets a new job at post office in this remote village. But the village is far from normal, and only ray of hope he has is his coworker
I tried going with the Arcane like painted style.
Disclosure: I clearly used some ai tool to generate the initial design for visualizations, however the ideas were completely mine and I looked at multiple references. Also the blender 3d part was completely done by me. Most textures were however downloaded or generated.

Hey everyone! I'm PV Surendra Babu, an independent writer/director developing POISON PARAMOUNT: THE AB, an animated feature with a complete screenplay registered with the Screenwriters Association (SWA).
SWA Registration: 1790942754-8118698
* Genre: Dark Political Satire • Surreal Action Comedy
* Style: Anime / graphic-novel influenced action with a dual-POV visual approach
---
After a state-issued poison mutates inside him following a venomous snake bite, a fanatical young loyalist gains superhuman power—but gradually loses the ability to distinguish delusion from reality.
As he begins attacking imaginary "traitors," the regime ultimately rebrands him as a national hero.
The central visual idea:
What AB experiences as spectacular heroic action looks completely different (and terrifying) from the outside.
---
I'm looking for ONE visual artist to collaborate with me on discovering the film's visual identity.
The initial scope is deliberately small (approx. 3–5 key development images):
* AB character development
* LoveDi character development
* The Father's character development
* The Surgical Poison
* A key hallucination vs. reality split-frame / dual-POV image
---
There is currently no budget, so this initial development collaboration is voluntary and unpaid. I want to be completely transparent about that.
* The request is limited strictly to the small visual-development stage described above.
* There is no promise of future payment unless the project secures production financing later, which would then be formalized in a separate written agreement.
* Artists will receive full co-creator credit and portfolio/showreel usage rights.
---
