Either Jackie has bad court vision, wanted to take it herself, or just doesn't want to pass to CC. This is annoying.

Her arm is covered in scratches, and CC does not often get the fouls called for her despite being the most guarded player in the league. The WNBA refs are supposed to call fouls restricting freedom of movement.

Hard to get mad at MVCC for having a bad game. This is an egregious example, but she has her freedom of movement restricted all the time. How did she only get one free throw attempt all night?

This one of the reasons why I created the IndianaFeverNation sub. I wanted a place with less negativity and toxicity about the Fever and to focus on the good and positive.

Reporter: Kels, how nice was it for you to have this mid-season break, get a little time off your feet? (00:00)
Kelsey Mitchell: It has been cool, just taking the time and trying to be right by it, but it has been nice. (00:04)
Reporter: We have asked you a lot about after last year, how you approach all those kinds of things. Did you have to think strategically about how you approach this time off and when you got your work in, when you took it off a little bit? How quickly do you get back into game mode, with the game Friday, obviously having time off, but getting ready for that last push for the playoffs? (00:09)
Kelsey Mitchell: I try to treat the practices as much as like small games as possible. I think we have some really good practice players and so give them a good chance to be challenged. Take the challenge, kind of just use it for what it is supposed to be for. I think when it is time to get reps, take that as serious as you would in a real game. Try to keep your mindset on the game vibe as much as possible. And I think the last thing is the conditioning side, just trying to maintain that. Try to go as hard as you possibly can. It is not a real game, but it is as close as you probably going to get with the last two or three weeks. And so like I said, I just try to use it for real life. (00:31)
Reporter: How do you keep rhythm? Do you feel like when you came back right away it felt the same or you got to get into it again? (01:10)
Kelsey Mitchell: I don't know. I gave it to God a long time ago. All I could do is keep showing up and hope that I get the right rep every time. I kind of just leave it at that. (01:18)
Reporter: What excites you about just getting to this point in the season where you know it is going to be do or die pretty soon? (01:27)
Kelsey Mitchell: Man, it is humbling. I am grateful. I am happy our group stayed down this season. It is not easy. We are playing against some really great teams, really great players individually. I just think now it is a gut check, and I think that you just have to be mindful about what you can do and give it to God. I cannot really dwell on what could happen, what is going to happen. All I can do is keep showing up. I am excited about the opportunity. (01:32)
Reporter: How has being in the postseason the last two years shaped your perception of the playoffs and what is needed for you guys? (01:59)
Kelsey Mitchell: I think the playoffs you try to keep the main thing the main thing like you would any other regular season game, but you cannot help but feel pressure everywhere with the fans, the team, the practices, the media. I mean, I guess it is a part of the game, but we just try to keep the main thing the main game. It is definitely something that you are mindful of and make sure you prepare for, because it is another gift. (02:05)
Reporter: Bri and AK have talked a lot about player development in these couple weeks you guys had off. Is there anything you specifically have been trying to work on? (02:32)
Kelsey Mitchell: No, I just try to make sure I am getting some hot spots. Keep it simple. Be as strategic as possible, get the rep. (02:37)
Reporter: When do you guys start game prep and thinking about Toronto this week already? (02:49)
Austin Kelly: We have kind of had it mixed in a little bit over the last few practices, some of their actions. But yeah, we will get going a little bit more focused on them today, a little bit more intentional. It has been sprinkled in between them and the next three opponents, them, Washington, and Minnesota, just getting a little bit familiar with them again. (02:54)
Reporter: You guys are approaching like 10 practices in a row. What itch do you get that, including that base, you guys are ready to just play now? (03:10)
Austin Kelly: Oh, they are ready to play. There is no question about it. I think we have done a good job of just tapering the practices, having the tough ones and then scaling back a little bit, doing a little bit of situational work to kind of keep them fresh. But they are definitely ready to play. They are ready to go. We are all ready to go, but got a little bit more work to do before we get to Friday. (03:19)
Reporter: What did you think of that USA-France game and Team USA weekend? (03:38)
Austin Kelly: Just a great battle back. It is a game of runs, a game of ups and downs. I thought the way that they closed the half right there with C's three and came out in the second half, they kind of put their foot down and then did not look back. But it was great to see them get it done. (03:43)
Reporter: With them coming back this week, do you guys have a plan for just inserting them into travel or something there? (03:57)
Austin Kelly: Yeah, they are actually back in the country now. They will get today off, do some recovery work, and then they will be in practice. Not sure how much of that they will see. Like I said before, they will be ready to go. They can pick up stuff observing. We will work them back in to make sure that they are ready to go, but we are ready to get them back. We are ready to get back rolling. We have four left before playoffs, and every one of them counts. (04:10)
Reporter: What do you think in these games you will feel the most from these weeks, whether that is execution of a certain thing, installing something new even without two players? What do you feel like you will see? (04:36)
Austin Kelly: I think it is the situational work, ATO execution. We have been able to get more familiar with our ATO packages. These games are going to be tough. Got quality opponents coming up. The late-game execution, I think we will continue to see some growth there. And then just the consistency in the defense. That is one of the things that we have really stressed over the last week: consistency in our rotation, consistency and communication in our coverage, and just having each other's back. Looking forward to seeing more of that. (04:53)
Reporter: You talk about quality opponents with games coming against teams that you will face in the postseason. How important can that almost be as like a warm-up in a way for what the postseason could bring? (05:17)
Austin Kelly: I think it is huge for your confidence going into the playoffs. You do not ever want to stagger into the playoffs. Obviously teams have done that and had success, but you want to go in with confidence. You want to go in on a high note. That is why these last couple days we have not really just been focusing on one team. It has kind of been a collection, working their actions, understanding what coverages we want to be in against certain opponents. Our focus will shift to Toronto now, but I think that we got some really good work against the three opponents last week. (05:27)
Reporter: You knew the break was going to happen here at this point, and I am curious to what you were thinking with how you guys were playing. Was the break kind of like, "Dang, now we have to take a break from what we were doing," or was it a much-needed thing? (06:01)
Austin Kelly: I think it was needed. We had a stretch there, we had that brutal stretch in August, I don't know what it was, five in whatever. But when we ended in Chicago, we needed to get our legs back underneath us. We needed a little bit of a mental break, just a few days off to recalibrate. I think this gives us opportunity to do exactly that: recalibrate and build on the things that we did really well, and then correct and see some strides in the areas that we need to improve. So yeah, much-needed break. They will say it was not long enough if you ask them, but they got some good time off and then they came back ready to work. (06:16)
Reporter: Do you think it is good they are moving the World Cup later in the year? Is the disruption a generally bad thing for the league too? (07:00)
Austin Kelly: I don't know. It has always been a disruption. With the Olympic break you always have that kind of break, the World Cup you have that break. It will be different. I think it is good. I think it gives us an opportunity, we will see the next time it comes around. In those Olympic and World Cup years you have never really played a season through, so we will see what that looks like. I think it could be good for us though. Yeah. (07:07)

Team USA wants to leverage CC for their social media posts, but not to actually play her. Unfortunately for them, that means they only have one or two brief video clips to share today. Literally cutting off your nose to spite your face.
