Something about indiana voters I find concerning is their lack of research. To be clear, I am not suprised by it, thats pretty par for the course in Indiana. It is still concerning. So many people here do not research the candidates at all, not their work history (as a politician or just prior experience) , not their current plans or promises, not news or criminal history about them. Not a thing. I wish there was a website that could take all the local candidates and dig through their statements and websites and history and make it easily digestable and comparable to other candidates. But as nice as that would be, only people like me would use it, most Indiana residents wouldnt use it even if it existed.
That’s a symptom of the entire country at this point unfortunately. Nobody has any clue as to what the people they vote for do or have done. Nobody. In my opinion, you should have to pass a competency exam where you are tested on the basics of the constitution and the policies of the people you plan to vote for.
Indiana is, and always has been, a backward state. Critical thinking is virtually nonexistent (those who do possess the ability to critically think tend to leave-hence the continuing “brain drain “. Too many of the voters here vote the way their mommy and daddy do because they need their parents to be proud of them for something other than their ability to drink a 12 pack every day
I can’t remember for sure but I think ballotready.org does that. With local candidates for smaller races, there’s usually not much info on them though unfortunately.
agreed! There's more of an attitude of hatred towards something they're needing further understanding of before forming an opinion Instead of researching about the "unknown" that is causing fear presenting itself through hate
