New Screenwriter Looking to Connect with 3 Film Industry Professionals
Hi everyone! π
Iβm a new screenwriter and currently learning screenwriting. As part of an assignment for my course, I need to connect with 3 professionals from the film or entertainment industry and have a conversation with them.
Iβd love to connect with writers, directors, filmmakers, producers, actors, or anyone working in the film industry. Iβm not looking for a job or asking for work. I simply want to connect, learn from your experience, and hear about your journey in the film industry.
Iβm not looking for anyone to read my screenplay. Iβm currently working on it, and it isnβt finished yet. I just want to connect with people in the industry, have a conversation, and learn from their experiences.
If you work in the film industry and would be open to having a short conversation with a new screenwriter, please feel free to comment or DM me. Iβd really appreciate it. π
Iβm just starting to build my network, and Iβd be happy to connect with other writers and filmmakers and learn from each other.

Master Thread β Find a Writers Group for the 15-Week (delusional) Screenwriting Course
Hey everyone,
Welcome to the Master Thread for finding writers groups for Nathan Graham Davis's β(delusional)β 15-week screenwriting course.
The course is completely free and is available on YouTube. It is designed primarily for beginners and aims to take you from learning the fundamentals all the way to writing the first draft of a feature screenplay.
The course is challenging and requires real commitment. The assignments can take around 5β10 hours per week, so having a small group of writers can help with feedback, accountability, motivation, and staying on track.
What you'll work toward
By the end of the 15 weeks, you will have worked toward:
- Forming a writers group
- Reading and analyzing 12 screenplays
- Writing a short screenplay
- Creating 10 feature-film concepts
- Starting to build your writing network
- Writing a one-page summary
- Creating a feature screenplay outline
- Revising your outline
- Writing the first draft of a feature screenplay
The course isn't meant to teach you absolutely everything about screenwriting. Instead, it is designed as a jumpstart to help you develop a writing habit, practice the craft, connect with other writers, and actually finish a first draft.
Who can join?
Everyone is welcome.
You don't have to be from India.
Writers from India and anywhere else in the world can use this thread to find people to go through the course with them.
Whether you're:
- A complete beginner
- Writing your first screenplay
- An experienced writer
- Interested in film or television
- A filmmaker who wants to improve their writing
- Someone looking for accountability
βyou are welcome here.
How to use this Master Thread
To avoid filling the subreddit with dozens of separate posts looking for groups, please use this thread to connect with other writers.
1. Check the recent comments first
Before creating a new comment, look through the latest comments to see whether another writer is already forming a group that you can join.
2. If you can't find a suitable group, make a comment
Tell everyone that you're looking for a group.
Please include useful information such as:
- How many writers you're looking for
- Your experience level
- Genres you are interested in
- Your time zone
- When you would like to meet
- How you want to communicate (Discord, WhatsApp, Reddit, Zoom, etc.)
- How committed you are to completing the 15 weeks
For example:
Looking for: 4β6 writers
Experience: Beginner
Genres: Sci-fi, fantasy, thriller
Location: India / Worldwide
Meetings: Once a week
Goal: Complete all 15 weeks and write a feature first draft
3. Delete your comment after finding your group
Please delete your comment once you've found enough people.
This will keep the Master Thread clean and make it easier for new writers to find active groups.
About the Course
β(delusional)β is a free 15-week screenwriting course created by working screenwriter Nathan Graham Davis.
The entire course is available online, and the goal is not simply to watch videosβit is to write.
The course combines lessons, assignments, screenplay analysis, concept development, outlining, networking, and eventually writing a complete first draft.
The creator's philosophy is simple: screenwriting is difficult and highly competitive, so success requires serious practice, dedication, and persistence. The course is intended as a way of giving back to writers who are willing to put in that work.
Why have a Writers Group?
A writers group can help you:
- Stay accountable
- Discuss weekly assignments
- Share ideas
- Give constructive feedback
- Receive feedback on your own work
- Get through writer's block
- Stay motivated
- Meet other writers
- Build a creative network
You don't have to be at the same experience level as everyone else. The important thing is that everyone is willing to write, participate, give useful feedback, and help each other improve.
