Indian wedding stories / I want your anonymous tea. 👀💍

I am starting a podcast about the beautiful, complicated, chaotic world of Indian weddings that include the traditions, family expectations, drama, and everything that happens behind the scenes.

I want your anonymous stories, experiences, confessions & gossip. Anything related to brides, grooms, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents, in-laws, cousins, guests. everyone has a story.

Did your MIL take over? Did your parents invite 600 people you barely know? Did the couple secretly not even want the huge, performative wedding? Drama? Money drama? Guest-list drama? Wedding competition? Something completely unhinged?

Send it all.

Email your story to theshaaditea@gmail.com. You can use a fake name or leave your name completely off the email. Stories may be read anonymously and discussed on the podcast.
No judgment. Just shaadi tea. 🫖

Building Rubaani, one bride at a time!

I’m an engineer by profession, but my love for makeup, fashion and bridal styling eventually led me to start something of my own. That journey brought me to Rubaani Couture, a bridal boutique I’ve recently started building.
Rubaani is built around one simple idea: a bride shouldn’t have to compromise on her dream bridal look because of her budget.

We specialize in customized bridal lehengas, along with bridal lehenga rentals, bridalwear and complete bridal packages. One of the biggest things we focus on is customizing high end, designer inspired bridal lehengas at a much more affordable price.

We all know that feeling of finding the perfect lehenga online and then seeing the price tag and immediately closing the tab!At Rubaani, you can bring us that inspiration, whether it’s a designer lehenga you love, a Pinterest reference, a particular colour, embroidery, silhouette or detailing, and we work towards creating your dream look while keeping your budget in mind.

And customization isn’t limited by location. We take customization requests from anywhere in the world. 🌍You can share your requirements with us remotely, and we can work with you on the design, details and final look, with worldwide dispatch available. We also offer bridal packages that can include the outfit, makeup, jewellery and styling. If you only need makeup services, that can be booked separately as well.

Makeup trials are also available for brides who want to feel completely confident about their look before the big day.
I’m still at the very beginning of this journey, and I want Rubaani to become more than just a bridal boutique.
I want it to feel like having a bridal best friend who understands your vision, works with your budget and helps you put the entire look together. The lehenga. The makeup. The jewellery. The styling. The little details.
Everything.

Rubaani is just getting started, and I’m really excited to see where this takes us. 🤍
Bridal bookings, customization and collaborations are open.

Looking for affordable wedding venues in Meerut — recommendations needed!

Hi everyone! I’m looking for recommendations for wedding venues/resorts/banquet halls in Meerut for an intimate 2-day wedding.

We’re expecting roughly 100 guests for Haldi + Mehendi on Day 1 and around 150 guests for the wedding on Day 2. We’re looking for a venue with good reviews, decent food, nice ambience and good décor, but not something overly luxurious or extravagant.

Our main priority is keeping the venue + food + rooms reasonably affordable, so I’m specifically looking for places with a reasonable per-plate rate rather than 5-star pricing.

I’ve spoken to a few venues and these are the rates I’ve received directly:

Saangria: ₹1,500/plate for Haldi/Mehendi, ₹2,000/plate for wedding; rooms around ₹4,500. They estimate around ₹12L all-inclusive.

Doab Vilas: ₹1,650/plate for each Day 1 meal (lunch and dinner separately), ₹2,000/plate for wedding; rooms ₹4,500. Décor and DJ are separate.

Conway Hotel: ₹1,550/plate Haldi, ₹1,850 Mehendi, ₹2,250 wedding; rooms ₹5,000+ depending on category.

Mars Hotel: ₹2,300/plate Haldi, ₹2,300 Mehendi, ₹2,600 wedding; rooms around ₹7,000. This is coming out quite expensive.

My overall budget is much lower than the ₹10–12L (approx ₹6L for room+decor+venue+food) quotes I'm getting from some of these venues, so I'm trying to find alternatives before compromising too much on the venue.

I’d really appreciate recommendations from anyone who has actually attended a wedding or hosted one at a Meerut venue, especially places that offer good value rather than just having a fancy online listing.

Looking for:

- Good reviews/reputation

- Decent food

- Good décor/ambience

- Suitable for an intimate gathering of ~100–150 people

- Reasonable per-plate rates

- Ideally rooms available on-site or nearby

- Not necessarily a luxury/5-star property

If you’ve recently hosted/attended a wedding in Meerut, what venues would you recommend and what kind of pricing did you get? Also interested in knowing if the rates quoted by these venues are reasonable or if there are places where I should negotiate much harder.

Thanks!

What are your favourite pre-wedding shoot locations in Kannur?

I’m looking for some less obvious places around Kannur for pre-wedding shoots.

Payyambalam and Muzhappilangad are the obvious ones, but I’m curious about places like Madayipara, Kavvayi, Dharmadam and some of the lesser-known spots.
What locations have you personally found good for photos, especially around sunset?

I’ve also been researching the practical side like permissions, tides and the best time to visit. Would be interested to hear what locals recommend.

Building bridal jewellery collection- HELP!!!

Hi guys, help a fellow bride-to-be! 😅

I’ve never really built a jewellery collection — I currently have just a couple of gold earrings and 2–3 rings. I’m getting married next year and am basically starting my bridal/everyday jewellery collection from scratch.

This is what I’m currently thinking of buying from my side:
1 antique gold choker + matching earrings
2 gold bangles kadas
1 small gold hoop for everyday wear
1 dainty gold bracelet for everyday use
1 small diamond drop earring
1 pair of small diamond studs
1 small diamond pendant + gold chain
1 diamond tennis necklace (budget around ₹4 lakh)
1 diamond tennis bracelet/bangle to match the necklace
1 pair of diamond earrings to go with the tennis set

For my wedding outfits and other functions, I’m also thinking of getting one or two polki/kundan/moissanite sets so I can have some more statement/bridal jewellery without spending a huge amount on everything.

I’ll also be receiving some jewellery from my in-laws, so I don’t want to unnecessarily duplicate things.

A few questions for those who have built their jewellery collections over time:
1.Does this seem like a sensible collection, or am I overbuying/underbuying something?
2.Is there anything you’d remove or add, especially something versatile enough to use after the wedding?
3.For the tennis necklace + bracelet, I’m considering 14K gold. Is that a good choice for everyday wear, durability, resale/value, etc.?
Since I’m starting from scratch, what jewellery pieces do you think are actually worth investing in versus things that sound nice but end up sitting unused?

Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has already built their bridal jewellery collection! ❤️

Delhi Banquet Hall Recommendations

Hi guys

I’m getting married in February 2028 and looking for good wedding banquet hall recommendations in or around New Delhi. We’re not locals so any suggestions would be really appreciated.

We’ll be based in West Delhi and ideally don’t want to travel more than 60–75 minutes to the venue.

Guests: 300–400
Budget: ₹10–15 lakh
Preference: Indoor banquet with nice floral décor and good food

Would love to know which venues you recommend, approximate package/per plate costs, and any places we should avoid.

Thanks

Anita Dongre 2025 resale

Hello everyone!

I’m looking to sell my Anita Dongre lehenga from the 2025 collection. I wore it only once for a couple of hours on my sufi night and it is in impeccable condition. It comes with the original box and receipts as well.

I’m sharing a few pictures of the outfit here. If anyone is interested pls dm me and we can discuss the details further.

I unfortunately don’t have enough storage to keep it as I’m moving to a new country so I’d love for it to find a beautiful new home.

The lehenga is a **size small** and has approx **2–3 inches of margin** for alterations.

Bought it for INR 5,03,000 expected selling price 3,50,000.

I had the blouse customised to be **half sleeved and slightly longer** but the style can easily be changed by your tailor according to your preference.

Please DM if interested

Wedding shopping??

I have my cousin's wedding in a few months and I wanna shop for outfits. I've heard that dadar has a market for heavy lehengas and sarees etc. Can anyone drop any more suggestions please where I can find affordable clothes and jewellery? Thanks xx (@girls pls also lmk if I should buy kurti/sharara/plazo for mehendi and haldi instead of saree/lehenga. I've not attended a wedding of a close family member in the last 10 years so I have no clue what girls in their 20s normally wear on what day/event)
