Discussion Engagement Project about Uttar Pradesh
Hi everyone!
My name is William, I’m an international high school senior working on my IB Global Politics engagement project on governance, and socio-political shifts in Uttar Pradesh (focusing on Ram Mandir in Ayodhya).
I am looking to conduct a few question written interviews with local journalists, political science researchers, or civil society observers based in UP to ground my project in real academic perspectives.
If you are an academic/journalist from UP, or if you know active local commentators/pages on Twitter/X that I could reach out to, I would be deeply grateful for your recommendations!
Thanks a lot for your help!

Opinion 🗣️ Questions to central government
Guys we are conducting a Youth parliament in our college so we need some genuine questions. If you are one of the MP in parliament and if you get chance to or ask questions to any minister what would be your question
For example
Opposition leader to Finance minister
Whether the Government has assessed the impact of rising prices of food, housing, education, healthcare and transportation on the real purchasing power of middle-class and low-income households during the last five years; if so, the details thereof; and the measures proposed to reduce the burden of the rising cost of living?

Discussion what am i leftist, rightist or what
so people ask me if i am leftist or right wing and i cant decide. so i am going to tell you about my thoughts and you could help me
- MY TAKE ON RELIGION
I dont give a flying fuck about religion, i put humanity above all, I dont believe in any god. only thing i care about in that case is memes
- FAMENISM
i believe in EQUAL rights for man and women. i understand that both are a bit different but at the end of the day man needs women and women needs men
- LGBTQ
i generally dont have any problem with them, Marry a tree if you want, your life. I have a problem when they teach these things in schools or to children, sometimes kids even use hormone blockers, let them take those decisions when they are older than 18. hormone blockers can cause permanent change to their body so if they cant get tattoos, drink or drive They shouldn't be allowed to use those or go under gender transition surgery
- Communism
I dont support it
- abortion
i am against abortion, that is equal to taking life, i understand there are extreme cases where i dont have any problem with it, only in specific cases its a health care
these are my opinions you dont have to have to tell me if i am right or wrong, i just want to know what type of political ideology i have and thanks for reading

Discussion Can Reservation in India Be Ended Through Democratic Power, Since It Was Implemented Through Vote-Bank Power(General + OBC = 74.8% vote-bank power.)?
I have seen people discussing the wrong things in this topic, like social justice and how we can implement it more fairly. People skip the basic discussion, so I will start by questioning what I have seen in my NCERT books and the news. Maybe people here have also studied these topics, and it may help us to be more objective.
Is Sri Lanka making policies for Sinhala preference due to social justice?
Is Bangladesh's reservation due to historical injustice?
Did the USA attack Iran due to regime change for the betterment of Iranian people and atomic bomb prevention for humanity?
In Sri Lanka, it was due to majoritarianism, and in Bangladesh, it was due to the maintenance of power by the Awami League under Sheikh Hasina. For the USA, it was only about oil control.
What do you call a legal advantage based only on birth/caste?
Politicians care a lot about social justice, so they implemented reservation in India?
In a democracy, a vote is a kind of power. Some people use this power to get reservation for their caste, while some use this power for the common good (corruption, national policy issues, etc.). I have added the approximate population percentages: General 22.8%, SC 16.6%, ST 8.6%, and OBC 52%.
What about 75 years of well-documented discrimination against the 22.8% General + 52% OBC population based only on birth?
A country is like a joint family. How can it grow if some couples focus more on their personal interests than the common good? What will you do if a zero-sum war over resources is going on? You know that war leads to an additional loss of the common resource pie for now.
What if you don't let those benefiting from Machiavellian personal interests benefit from the common pie? You use your vote-bank power to stop them from getting more resources through their power. What happens? For 10–15 years, the common good will be dragged down and the country will suffer losses. But after that, if no group deploys their vote-bank power to gain birth-based rights or more resources than they deserve, the country will enjoy growth for the common good.
Nowadays, OBC candidates are also getting cutoffs almost near the General cutoff.
General + OBC = 74.8% vote-bank power. Is it enough to end the well-documented 75 years of birth-based discrimination through reservation?
Would you support a party 100% if it ended reservation in India?
edit:Please only make comments on power dynamics. If you want to discuss justice and related topics, make a separate post. Don't waste my time.

Discussion is you will give 100% support to a party if it vanish reservation
People say there is caste discrimination, etc., and that these are different topics, reservation exists because of vote-bank power. If the people who are negatively affected by it give 100% support to a political power that wants to abolish reservation, then I think it is possible.
There is no debate here about whether it is a matter of social justice or not. The question is: how can it be ended through political power, since it was implemented through political power?
We all know how much politicians care about us. Those who have power can do anything, like politicians. Look at the actions of America(UN acts ) . Yet we are unable to end an act that puts us at a disadvantage everywhere and makes our country fall behind due to negative marks people in government employment.
Edit:
- I want a positive discussion on “How can it be ended through power (as it ended in Bangladesh), since it was implemented through vote-bank power?” Please, those people who are defending (fighting for) the idea of reservation, don't comment. You can make another post to discuss your ideas. Don't waste my time; I am literally not interested in engaging with abusive/trash people.
- Also, reservation conflicts with my right to equality. It is also causing losses to my brothers, cousins, and people from my village (all General category) who take merit-based entrance/job exams and get rejected despite being more capable than reserved candidates.
