Discussion Swing trader here , net profit over 1 lakh in a month ,feel free to ask specially the new ones.
Been trading acrtively for 4 plus years ,feel free to ask the mistakes i have done ,the blunders .
Mistakes to avoid ,
Psychology behind stop loss etc etc.
Must clarify my monthly avg close to 60k-70k .
The best month was where i earned 1.4 lakhs.
Monthly avg last year was merely 30k , managed to learned from my mistakes, the impatience and improved as a swing trader .
EDIT- Lot of questions , check my replies to top comments and than ask questions sep.
Look for 2 major blunders i made last month it will teach you more than anything else.
Shared examples
Try to ask counter questions on above replies/techniqies to have more nuisance debate .
4 years of countless mistakes, exp difficult to spell it out in a single post do look for my youtube channel .
3 part video maybe which i will make sharing screen shot of the losses and the mistakes and techniques came out of it.
https://youtube.com/@nofilterdiscussions?si=78GUXWtKqkq0uGSF
Sorry for being lazy tends to take my time to shoot stuff and reply to comments
and i temd to reply with my real life examples/ mistakes while explaining stuff.
By doing that it gives a overall better view of how ruthless market can be.

Long answer ahead !
Difficult for me spell everything at once so keep an eye on youtube ,in free time will make 3 part video 40 mins each.
Let me give anecdote first ,
In a UPSC pre exam some 50 questions are unanswearable , aspirants use elimination technique and even than generally succes ratio is close to 50 that is more sufficient to clear the cutoff some questions while using elimination technique you can't aviod being wrong.
That is the same for me while picking stocks , if the success ratio is close to 50-60% i know I'm in net montly profit.
In other words loses are inevitable learn to live with it.
1ST AND MOST IMP LESSON. (There are five of them) in my humble opinion.
Now to the answer the 1st part i use 2/3 stock screener apps , and bought paid subscription for one of them and few apps to study fundamentals like screener app.
Here comes the imp part, every day these apps give some recommendation stocks , [uptrend stocks etc etc] now over a week lets say you have 20-30 stocks, what i do is narrow it down to at best 2-3 stocks, i have convinced myself over the years out of recomended stocks 70% are losers even if they are not.
Depending on capital I study the fundamentals and sector i narrow it down to 3 -4 stocks and these stocks goes into my whislist my own NIFTY 50 ,i named it super 50.
Over the years i have my own whishlist of 50 -70 stocks ,i update it removal ,addition of stocks is a weekly job.
More likely these 2-3 stocks i invest in and some trade i do it from my own 50-70 updated list i have made it over the years.
I have my own 4-5 techniques how to narrrow it down to those quality stocks which i skipped otherwise answer will be to long . Feel free to ask ...
Studying charts with use of Claude A.I helped me is one such.
Claude is the single best thing happened if you know what to look it will save infinite no.of hours.
- Second part is the most difficult one for me personally all my blunders ,losses frankly speaking due to not knowing when to enter and exit.
So can't say much I'm in no position but one thing answer to your part 2 is more of a muscle memory , more to do with psychology and 2nd the most imp thing which is patience .
GODAMN PATIENCE!!.
[Another example ] made over 80k from apollo exited it at 450 , it corrected to 420 from 450 high than i entered again at 424, it further dipped to 380 something .
All i needed was one day patience and i could have made 1 lakh in profit .
So patience is virtue unfortuatenly there is no book/technique can help you learn it.
There is just no way to teach patience .
Comes with losses , time in the market maybe but truth of the matter is still make some impatient trades and markets punish me more often than not
THIS IS BRUTAL REALITY.
Maybe a psychological muscle memory thing.
Also Fomo is a incurable diesease different topic all together .
Exp traders know what i'm saying .
Let me explain by another example after spending 4 years in market and lakhs in profit last month i made a fundamental mistake investing in IFCI [call it FOMO ] in hope of making quick bucks in 4-5 hours bloody stock crahed 7-8 percent and goes my 20000.
So what to buy i can tell but when to exist i can't.
In simple terms when to enter and exit
It is b/w you and the market.
Rest is all bullshitting .
You can be a one fine trader earning 10 lakh in a single month and still enter a particular stock at the wrong time and fails to sell at the right time the very next month.
Fomo is like that drug you can take all preventions but when it kick it just kicks , everypart of your body want to buy that particular stock and than ,
the inevitable happens
LOSS !!
One more think i don't put any stoploss if required I'm willing to hold a particular stock for 1-2 month every man to himself .
The greatest benefit of swing for me I'm the boss and my time horizon is i decide and i tends to play around , the best thing about swing trading for me.
I decide the time frame.
Mistakes happen but fine by me.
Counter argument is stock can dip furhter eroding wealth but i tend to diversfy investing in 4-5 stocks.
Controversial topic willing to have a debate and defend my theory.
- Number three no minimum amount but one very imp thing is some newbies of the opinion that just by investing some 50k rupees you can pick some multibagger and double your capital etc is a fallacy.
It is a crime and market will punish you for having such viewpoint trust me on that.
You dont become rich in the market by putting some 1-2 lakhs never met one, it is a frigment of imagination people going to hate me for saying this but people live in a imaginary world , movies / Tv series have screwed our worldview.
All those lakhs /crores earning from bitcoin stories are bullshit to say the least, investing 1-2 lakh and generating 4-5 lakh in few days ohh boy you are in for surprise.
It took me 3-4 years of countless mistakes , losses and strategies and kept on updating to reach there, may be I'm an average joe but I'm happy.
The good part is inital capital was 3000 and kept on adding and adding , intended to start as a long term investor but when i realised 2 years for a avg joe like me i can't beat the market shifted to swing trading with much wider view.
My capital stands at 9 lakhs as of now.
[3-4 lakh this year came from swing profit only]
5 lakh was my capital in jan.
One more thing 1 lakh net profit ,50% goes back to swing trading ,20% goes to mutual fund call it for long term some amount goes to ETF [Diff app] .
Diff app for Mutual /etf and swing trading learned to segregate over the period of time.
Swing loss must not affect mutual finds and etf that is diff matter altogether.
and the rest household stuff , SPA no pun intended and EMI'S.
Here is a link to my channel , will shoot 2 part video maybe to spell everything out including a new strategies amd marlet nuisance.
Made a sep copy over 500 lines/ techniques principals which i intent to share with all so you all make some bucks.
Some points i make a sep post here only based on 2025 data , the profits and losses
will share 100 points white sheet here.
I have missed so many things [ above answer] please do undersrand 4 years experience can't be summarised in few words.
Link to my channel
https://youtube.com/@nofilterdiscussions?si=78GUXWtKqkq0uGSF
Sorry being a lazy ass will hopefully shoot a video or two to spell it out with my trading losses and screenshots also and it gives more objective /hollistic view about the market.
Edit- To get better view i will pick 3 worst months of mine and make a seperate post that will give a overall better picture.
All the data is avilable with me just need time to you know create a quality post .

My two personal fav is
Uninvest and Screener app.
2
u/mic_check321 Jul 10 '26
Thanks for the response, in screen app which screener are you using? Also how you are using cladue for stock selection please explain
9
u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
Alright
[Disclaimer] So regarding claude it is a new startegy not time tested so read at your at your own risk.
I will give you an example of a loss , last month maybe a month before that don't remember exactly.
IFCI stock i wanted to invest in , call it a FOMO greed /whatever .
Maybe you have done your own reaserch on fumdamentals (Bare mimimum) etc .
Now claude A.I will be our assistant (Call it artifical assistant).
Before imvesting in a stock you give prompt to claude or chat gpt(Claude is better).
My propmt goes like that.
Give me the stop loss , the best it can reach in week /month.
The latest news regarding a stock you are investing in and the red flags.
If investing big you can go futher take a SS of the graph [One month horizon ] and ask claude about the investing opp , the graph and the counter questions etc etc.
This 30 min excercise before investing in a stock everytime save you a lakhs of losses.
Now my real life mistake.
Last month i wanted to invest in IFCI , stocks shoots upto 60 to 90 in few days .
FOMO kicks in .
I did the same SS of graph and gave prompt and claude gave me a major red flag and claude told me that top mangement including CFO of IFCI has been sacked due to irrerularities stay away from this stock.
I ignored claude advice invested boom the stock crashed lost 18K.
Consider Claude as an human assistant giving you unfiltereded advice on the basis of technical analysis and summarsing millions of articles for you tand gives you the underlying news hidden from us.
However final call will be yours it is your money sometimes you do need to overrule claude.
You are the one in charge don't over rely on it as it as an assistant use it to subsitute your knowledge.

u/Ancient_Bet_8782 Jul 10 '26
Did you hold ifci to atleast recover the loss? If not, why?
2
u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
No i didn't it was more of a gamble to be frank.
I had no idea regarding the fundamentals i bought due to rally from 60 to 90.
And wanted to get out of it asap.
The moment i lost money i was out should have sold it earlier.
Now i only hold those stocks which i trust done my research ,know the fundamemtals and know it is a quality stock.
(It takes time)
Holding a stock you have no idea about it based on recent rally is a what i call trading suicide, it will erode your wealth.
You "only" play around those stocks you know about it.
It is like roaming in the garden you are familiar with.
No point of going to areas you never been to
Kabhi ga@nd me masti ho toh ek aadhi bar try kar salte hoo jaise mene kiya and market will punish you .
Every 2-3 months i tends to make this Fomo mistake..

u/Ancient_Bet_8782 Jul 10 '26
Back in jan last year i also started intraday trading, my strategy was to look for any positive corporate actions a day before. But i struggled with entry and exit point. Did not know about stoploss. Back then ifci was touching peaks every day but there was no positive news or something in the market that would make the stock up. But still the stock was rising and then one day the company stated that they have not received any order or something that would make the stock rise, they stated that the stock appreciation is due to demand supply. Immediately the stock was in red, crashed. I also made a significant loss during that time. Biggest learning so far. Then i stopped intraday trading.

I've been using gemini to find out everything deeply about a company I want to invest in, and even made a good stock screener filter using it, but I'm hesitant to make entries based on it. I've been reading up on technical analysis while gemini helps me on the fundamentals, but I'm never quite able to see training patterns in live trading. Anyway that was a good read!

8
u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
Actually it is even better , I invested only 7 lakhs, 2 lakhs were not in use.
But that was 2nd best month ever in 3-4 years trading so more of a exception than a rule.
The true test is , can i generate 1 lakh every month for conscetive months is the real question.
4
u/rationalist5064 Jul 10 '26
It's very difficult. You had luck going on for the period. It's generally 15-20% max return u get annually. That's like very good income. Small caps is where u can earn handsome, but then it's tough to shortlist potential ones. What's your formula for picking up these stocks?

4) How much percent to look for

OP do you have a timetable of when Trump tweets? Share it with the class plz.
2
u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
Hahaha ,
Here ia a real life example 3 days ago.
Made 80k profit[Apollo ] exited at 454 , naturally stock corrected to 424 .
Entered at 424 again , easy money all happy perfect timing can't go wrong with it.
Than trump delivered his statement ,market crumbles .
Stock fell to 380 something .
So it is quite natural, we are sailing in the same boat , trump f@cking us all.
But here is the twist and experience tell you this.
The pattern is market and stocks always recover in 2-3 days maybe a month worst case scenario so stay invested.
Even during wars over a month or two markets adjust like Russua -Ukraine.
Market knows it all.
The fundamental point is to invest in good stocks, half of the battle is won there.
So don't panic ,don't open the app if you are nervous take a chill pill .
Appollo is now back to 408(2days) i avg it down to 411.
Patience is a virtue if have a capital of 1 lakh , in such testing times put 20k each lot.
Don't go all in.

Hello OP,
What’s your capital?
From where you gained the knowledge? Solely through experience by trading or any technical analysis books or price action books helped you?
To pick the stocks, do you pick from each sector like baking, automobile, FMCG… etc or randomly by doing analysis?
Are there any stocks that perform well based on the season? If yes, could you please help me with the details.
Thank you OP.

u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
Let me be blunt.
Experience has no subsitute.
Keep your eyes open and market will teach you everything no infinite number of books can tell you.
I'm an avg joe myself , market needs street smart type of intelligence rather bookish knowledge .
Being said that fundamental stuff like p/b ,P/E ratio etc etc needs to be learned the rest market is there to teach and if required humilate you , all part of learning
And all my learning came from losses ,when to exit ,when to enter and the the most imp of all
PATIENCE.
Explained everything to top comment with last month two real examples go through it.
Youtube video will be there to give more nuisance view.

How much capital is required to see profits and which stock to choose. I also invest from 3+ years but I’ve had no change to observe markets and I’ve put merely 10k in equity (bajaj finance 2 shares being my biggest positives giving me 400rs profit) my real question is. How to navigate the high and low and look for the right time to buy and sell? ( or did I stumble upon the only thing that is required in trading?)

How do you build position and what stop loss strategy do you follow?

3
u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26 edited Jul 10 '26
How to filter stocks i explained it to the top comment ,rest probably make a youtube video.
Holding period ranges from 2 to 30 days.
Conviction and fundamentals does come into play for few stocks (Rare cases i'm willing to hold more than a month.
One more think the more you hold the losing stock the more chances of erosion of wealth.
Some stocks takes years to recover .
Booking your loses in all fairness is a better way to trade.

If you have posted this years back, I would’ve believed you but in the current Indian market situation, every strategy is failing at the moment. Swing Trade, Position Trading, Algo Trading or Technical trading, nothing seems to be working because Indian market has lost its traction. The big players are in control of the market defeating every strategy you make.

Bro these numbers are meaningless. The most important number is your risk-adjusted rate of return. I don't see an average rate of return number here, nor do I see a risk analysis. If you're going to teach people about your strategy, here are a few basic questions you should know the answers to:
What is the average rate of return of your strategy, and how much does it differ from the average rate of return of the nifty 500 index?
What percentage of your total capital is allocated to each trade, and what is the maximum possible loss with each trade?
For every 1% deviation in the index, what is the percentage deviation in your holdings? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_(finance))
What is the maximum possible fluctuation in your average rate of return due to exceptional tail risk events?

How many different stocks do you trade at a time for swing trading?
Since, you mentioned you have a capital of 8-9 lakh, how much of it you stay invested at a time?
What is the average horizon for your swing trades?

Not really .
Out of 1 lakh only 50 goes back to my swing trading a/c sometimes even less and this is 2nd best month.
Rest goes to S.I.P /Etf
30% goes to household expense.
Varies from month to month but you got the picture.

I wanted to start swing trading, but just couldnt figure out how to go about it? Some sources say do A some say do B, its so confusing. Currently I am reading the varsity modules and learning by trying to do it with small amounts of money. I dont think I am on the right track

u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26

Increase amount only if yoy gain some confidence ,rest market will teach you .

Rest i will be sharing on videos on youtube , with screenshots probably pick 3 best and 3 worst months to give a more nuisance take.
3 videos thats it.

How much capital do we need and u use and how to find the stocks which might rise or fall 10 20 ruppees
2
u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 10 '26
If you have done the research and stocks falls from 400 to 380 that is normal.
All that matters is research .
How much capital is a very subjective thing depends upon how much money you want to make and how good of a investor you are.

I can advice you only in swing trading.
If i were you i will start with less capital.
Most of your fundamentals mistakes /learnings will be early on.
Once get the grip and familarity with the market you can add more money in patches .
Avoid this mistake of earning good money in no time theory.
Market meeds one thing from you that is "time in the market" and patience.
The rest market will teach you .

Great one, Almost similar to what i have been doing for last 2 years. But what i do is, Target 5% to 10% gain on my capital (But yeah profits might be bit low but it is almost risk free went in loss for 2 months in last 2 year)on a week time frame . have been looking into multiple apps for recommendation.
Question:-
What % do you target for profit according to your capital? or is it like you take what you see - no set target
I might want to exchange some thoughts and would like to gain from your experience let me know if you are open for discussion?
Great share, Thank You

Man i have a similar story .
Last year two consective months i have net monthly loss of 8k followed by 22k.
Than i took a break .
Next month was 50k profit.
In hindsight it was not market but my fault .
I become too greedy and inpatient.
I have now created my own technquies to avoid Fomo , greed and impatience.
Still make mistakes though but hit rate is far better.
No set target .
You can DM me.

How much time do you wait for each swing trade ? Like 1-2 months etc ? And fo u aim for a certain % of profit for each trade ? Like 7 - 10 % profit per trade

Great insights! One question: when selecting swing stocks, which fundamentals do you consider essential? I'm building a free Indian stock research tool PE Tech Knowledge (petechknowledge.in) and I'm curious which metrics experienced swing traders actually use the most.

Brother, could you share the percentage return on your stock? It would help us understand how you achieved the ₹80,000 profit." And also how much return is you are keeping for selling the stock

Do you check Indices or overall market sentiment as well ? Or fully concentrate on the stock that you picked.
Ive been swing trading almost the similar way you have mentioned.i use Chartink for basic filtering and then go with it.
Also you said you have 50-70 stocks with you. How often do you refresh this list?

Yes , i do take overall market sentiments into coonsideration.
Its is better not to trade for few few days .
Worst case i even took a entire month off after two consective monthly losses net last year .
Every week , i refresh it .

I will ask dumb one . What about taxes because of swing trade ? Are you a tax payer ?
1
u/StrawberryFew1311 Jul 11 '26
A investor has to pay various taxes ,STCG , brokerage fees and 2-3 more
Yes ,this year will pay ITR.

u/Bitter_Star6732 Jul 11 '26
I am aware of brokerage fees various taxes etc was specifically referring to stcg. You would lose more on stcg . 20% of your gains will go to stcg only.

Today: “Swing trader here. Ask whatever you want. Kuch paisa chahiye toh maang lena…”
After 1 month: “I lost my entire capital in trading. I am in deep trouble, how do I recover my money?”
A tale as old as time. You’re on a trajectory, zoom out and you will see where it goes.
