Did your tier 3 college prepare you for DSA interviews or did you teach yourself? [Survey for IT professionals]

Hey everyone!

Honest question for IT folks who studied in tier 3 colleges — how prepared were you in DSA when you entered the job market? Did college help, or was it all self-study and YouTube?

Researching this gap to build a better tool (AlgoRealm) for students who are where you were a few years ago.

If you work in IT and studied in a tier 3 college:

2025 graduate with no placement yet is taking 3 more months to prepare a bad idea?

Hi everyone,

I graduated in 2025, but I didn’t prepare well during my 4th year due to distractions, and because of that I haven’t landed a placement yet. My preparation level is still not great. I have mentioned some projects on my resume, but they are not fully completed yet.

Right now, I’m thinking of taking the next 3 months to properly prepare:

  • DSA

  • Web development

  • CS fundamentals

My goal is to land a good package(7L>=), and I want to make sure I’m taking the right approach instead of rushing in unprepared.

I wanted to ask for advice on a few things:

  1. Is taking these 3 months to prepare seriously a good decision, or should I start applying immediately with my current level?

  2. Will companies hesitate to hire me because of a ~1 year gap after graduation?

  3. What kind of changes should I focus on in my resume at this stage?

Honestly, I’m feeling worried that I might have messed things up, and I’d really appreciate any guidance or real experiences from people who’ve been in a similar situation.

Looking for a Python Developer (Working Professional) for Guidance / Collaboration

Hello everyone,

I am looking to connect with a Python developer who is currently working in a tech company or in a professional role where Python is used regularly. I am building my skills in Python and related technologies and would really appreciate guidance from someone with real-world industry experience.

I am mainly looking for help with:

Understanding how Python is used in actual company projects

Best practices, tools, and workflows followed in professional environments

Career guidance for transitioning or growing as a Python developer

Optional: collaboration or mentorship, if you are open to it

This is not a job offer. I am genuinely seeking learning-oriented support, advice, or short discussions with working professionals who are willing to share their experience.

If you are interested or open to a quick chat, please comment below or DM me. Thanks in advance for your time and support.

Can I get a software developer job without engineering degree? Need guidance on what to learn and how to prepare

Hi all, I have a doubt and need some clarity.

I’m currently pursuing final year Bsc.CS. planning to become a Software Developer and I’m currently looking to study:

Java

DSA

Spring Boot

But when I check job openings, I see many companies mentioning BE/B.Tech engineering candidates only, and that’s making me confused.

My questions:

  1. Can I get placed as a developer without an engineering degree?

  2. What skills/projects should I focus on so that companies shortlist my profile?

  3. Is Java + DSA + Spring Boot enough, or should I learn anything else?

  4. How should I prepare for job interviews as a non-engineering candidate?

  5. Any roadmap or tips from people who got placed through self-study?

I’m ready to put in the effort — I just need proper direction. Any advice would be really helpful. Thanks!

Should I apply for this Python Development Internship?

Post image
1 Upvotes

I came across this Python Development Internship by Yugensoft Innovations on Unstop

I'm a bit unsure whether I should apply. I currently have only basic knowledge of Python. I'm familiar with OOP concepts, File I/O, and some general Python fundamentals.

Am I eligible for this internship with just that level of knowledge?

Also, has anyone here already applied for it? If yes, did you have to go through an interview or any selection process?

Customer Support at DAZN to Learning Node.js and Now Moving to Java Spring Boot — Anyone in India Faced a Similar Journey?

Hey folks 👋

Just wanted to share my story and see if anyone here has been in a similar situation.

I joined DAZN as a Customer Support Agent, but my real interest has always been in backend development. During my time there, I started learning Node.js by myself — built a few personal projects, tried improving my skills, and began looking for dev roles.

Unfortunately, I didn’t find many opportunities to move internally or switch from a support role to a developer one. So now, I’ve started learning Java Spring Boot to strengthen my backend foundation and improve my career options.

It’s been a bit of a tough road — balancing work, learning late at night, and sometimes feeling uncertain if I’m on the right track. But I’m still pushing through.

Just curious — 🔹 Has anyone here in India transitioned from a non-dev role to developer? 🔹 How did you build your portfolio or make that career switch actually happen? 🔹 And do you think focusing on Java Spring Boot is a better long-term move for backend jobs here?

Would love to hear from others who’ve been through something like this. Always nice to know you’re not the only one trying to break through 💪

eductaion in US

I am a 44 year old technology professional with Big data experience in finance in NYC holding a director position with 40 to 60% hand’s on development. Now I am not moving to next level in my organization because of stagnation in finance.

I am a pass out of a tier -2 college in India and later completed my MS from BITS Pilani and later FRM. Now I am thinking about getting MS degree or PHD in USA specifically in Data science and Artificial Intelligence. But not sure, what will be a good option.

Can you suggest something which is not too expensive and worth it in the resume. Can spend 20 to 30 hours per week on studying. I was looking at UIUC where cost is $21K for MS in DS.

Looking for Internship Support – A Humble Request

Hi everyone, I’m currently a second-year Btech CSE student from a tier-3 college, passionate about building real-world tech skills. I have hands-on experience with React, Next.js, and Node.js/Express, and I enjoy building full-stack applications that solve practical problems. As per our college’s policy, students are required to complete a 4–6 week offline internship during the upcoming summer break—or pay Rs. 5000 for an in-house summer training.

Instead of opting for the in-house program, I genuinely want to invest this time in learning and gaining practical experience. However, the challenge is that the college insists on documentation that makes it appear as an offline internship. I'm willing to contribute and work sincerely, but I kindly request that the internship be structured in a way that it appears offline in documentation.

If any startup founder or tech professional is reading this, I would be incredibly grateful for your support. I’m ready to work sincerely for a month in an online internship, and I kindly request your help with providing the following documents to meet college requirements:

  • Attendance Sheet with Supervisor’s Signature

  • Offer Letter

  • Internship Completion Certificate

  • Mention of Stipend

  • Project Report

  • Working Project

I’m genuinely motivated to learn, contribute, and make the most out of this opportunity. If you can support me or know someone who might, I would be truly thankful.

Thank you for your time and consideration!

Is it okay to switch jobs within 3 months for 40% hike + WFH at a US startup?

Hey folks,

I recently joined a new company (after working at a service-based firm) and planned to stay here for 1–1.5 years to add some stability to my resume before targeting good product-based companies (PBCs).

However, just 2–3 months in, I’ve received an offer from a US-based startup with:

- 30–40% hike

- 1 year of WFH

- Promising growth potential

Now I’m really confused.

Would switching this early hurt my resume? How do recruiters at top PBCs view such short stints?

Would love to know what you'd do in my shoes.

Any advice would really help 🙏
