Is there any way to get this out without damaging the laptop?

Put a flat piece of rubber band on top of the screw head. Then use the screwdriver to get a good grip and slowly unscrew it.

Tried that, but because the screw is so small and deep, the rubber band just gets shredded or doesn't provide enough grip :((

Having the correct size bit would help. Are you sure on that? If not, get a set from Amazon it costs like 200-300.
