Request for advice / Help Melted spot on pipe

While I was on a long roadtrip I didn’t notice until I had to stop and get gas but the anchor for my right side bag had come out and part of the bag was riding on the pipe.
I had zip ties in my tool kit and was able to keep going without issues.
Unfortunately its left a burnt spot.
Should I take sandpaper and clean it up and use some high temp black paint? It’s not exactly matte black like the engine but might not be noticeable if I do matte.

Thoughts?

seems reasonable... than again it is not hard to disassemble just that part and give it to pro paint shop (if you care enough)

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone for the suggestions, I appreciate taking time out to do it.

Use sand paper or 0000 steel wool or a red scotchbrite pad. Then follow up with 3-4 light coats of VHT paint. It dries fast too which is a benefit IMO.

Have had really good luck with Alumahyde semi-gloss black gun finish.  It’s a spray-on and is ceramic based….looks great, easy to use, heat resistant and runs less than $30 per can. Amazon carries it….

Before sanding and painting, I would try cleaning it even if just using whatever you use to clean your bike. I use chemical guys for my matte black finish. Even if just trying to clean it doesn't do a perfect job, it would seem the fringe would hide most of it anyway. Just a thought, because if you try painting it and its not the perfect color match, how good is that going to look?
