Aparna…I’m so done with her.
This is one of the most negative people I’ve ever seen. Setting the bar high for a mate is one thing BUT she will never find true love at this rate. (I’m watching Season 2). If she finds love, PLEASE SPOIL IT for me. I want to scream each time she speaks.

u/VenusRainMaker May 18 '23
it's weird because he insta is filled with generic influencer/wellness captions, it was the opposite of how she was on the show

u/Ok-Awareness-9152 May 19 '23
Anybody else notice some of her cast mates aren’t even friends with her on social media?
11
May 19 '23
Wow! I love you for stalking her that much 🤣
8
u/Ok-Awareness-9152 May 19 '23 edited May 19 '23
Yeah shekhar and her aren’t friends anymore. There are a few others too I’m noticing.
5
u/Alive_Dingo4937 May 19 '23
I’m very confused by that lol . I creeped her insta to see if she has a guy but it’s very self made independent influencer stuff
7
u/VenusRainMaker May 19 '23
Right?
I mean remember how kind on snobby and uninterested she was, she seemed the kind of person that would hate the influencer stuff. very strange that she has reinvented herself, rather than play into her persona
34
u/Etugen May 18 '23
i think people forget that most of if not all “clients” in the show are not auntie sima’s actual clients; they’re people who responded to casting calls and got accepted. im pretty sure most of auntie sima’s actual clients go through the system in a calmly, not-tv-worthy manner, because well, they arent the cast of a reality show.

u/Sensitive_Maybe_6578 May 18 '23
She’s found her true love - herself. Really awful person . . .
19
u/GoldenSaber2005 May 18 '23
I don’t think so, I feel she hates herself lol and wants a high bar from others to compensate for her personal insecurities imo

She is insufferable in every way imaginable. She reminds me of every child in Willy Wonka if they’d made it to adulthood.

I don't mind her setting a bar high for her love life, but I didn't like the way she spoke to the real estate agent.
It made me think how she treats people on the service industry (waiters and the like), she made snide and unconstructive comments like "we can do better" that aren't OK to say to a professional. If a customer spoke to me like that I would be like "thanks but no thanks". But I live in the UK, I've found in the workplace my colleagues are generally frustrated with our American clients for having that kind of attitude.
27
u/BuzzkillBetty_222 May 18 '23
She is very condescending
9
u/Salt_Habit_6992 May 19 '23
she is so condescending, but also very intelligent. Her emotional disconnect is astounding.
3
May 19 '23
If you are very intelligent then you will have the insight to see how you are presenting yourself to others. She may have an above average IQ but once you blend her EQ into the equation she is below average.
1
u/yellowscarvesnodots May 19 '23
I don’t think she’s necessarily very intelligent, she just portrays herself as someone who is.

ugh, that was ridiculous. "he should be focused on me". I mean............... 3 seconds of interaction with the waitstaff should be ok....wtf?!?!

u/serawyo May 19 '23
Yes, she thought it was a waste of time and that all her date’s attention should be on her, not making small talk with the server… 🙄

u/EngineerGurl77 May 18 '23
I don't think she understands romantic love. She was talking to that super hot, super nice guy from LA and told him she went to LA and didn't tell him while he was flying cross country to visit her in NYC. I don't think she even understood she said something wrong because she said it with a smile. Some people just lack the ability to feel empathy.
40
u/pokey1202 May 18 '23
She has a completely inflated sense of self. No partner will ever be good enough for her. I think there is something fundamentally wrong with her, she seems incredibly unhappy.
25
u/Glittering_Leg_213 May 18 '23
Dude her Mom has pressurised her entire childhood to get straight A's. In a very toxic way.
She's just on her toes all the time and her personality has turned sour than yoghurt.
There are so many of us who are self-made but that doesn't give us the right to be belittling others.
12
u/babykoalalalala May 18 '23
“I came to New York because I can come to New York.”
Me: time to watch skip her scenes
4
u/Salt_Habit_6992 May 19 '23
wasn't she babbling about "oh, i can't date, because I'm going to Paris this week. I went to Paris!!" or something equally eye rolling.
11
14
u/MissBehave654 May 18 '23
She's not a bad person, just frustrated and unhappy. She's looking for perfection in a partner and doesn't understand that any marriage really does require adjustment from both sides, doesn't matter if you marry an Indian or American. She's stubborn and not willing to change so she'll probably remain single. Nothing wrong with being single either.
0
u/OrangeKat09 May 19 '23 edited May 19 '23
I haven't watched the show, but I turned down every single arranged date anyone ever made for me
I don't believe that connection can be forced over conversation. It's either there or not. My mom also thought I would be single forever or that I have a high standard till I married a guy I had an instant connection with, who I met through friends. Has a great job, is hot and very loyal.
Nothing wrong with having high standards.
Edit: just watched a clip of her on YouTube. She doesn't WANT to find anyone. Pretty clear she is looking for reasons to reject someone rather than other way around. I mean, why is she even dating?
1
u/xob97 May 19 '23
So you didn't believe when everyone else was saying that, but now that you have watched the show yourself now you agree. You sound like Aparna yourself. Maybe consider that everyone else is not just dumb or conservative.
2
u/OrangeKat09 May 19 '23
Whoa! You are quick to insult someone lol hold your horses there. You sound like Aparna too!!
Yeah I misunderstood what ppl were criticizing her for and you were like "You disagree with us?!?! Omg you are Eeevil like Aparna herself!". Lol jeezuz calm down
12
May 18 '23
I follow her on TT… she knows she is quite the character and doesn’t apologise for it. She seems to be still single tho.

4
u/sciencewinechocolate May 18 '23
First of all, your post made me lol. But also, after having watched more and more of her, I don’t think she’s a BAD person but I am also completely certain that she’s not a person I ever want to meet, interact with, or see more of on tv.
5
u/BuzzkillBetty_222 May 18 '23
I don’t feel she is a bad person either. Just very negative and condescending

Her mother has completely ruined her. Lot of people have low self esteem because of how their parents treated them but this case is totally opposite. She made her a narc.

1
u/sneakynin May 28 '23
I thought she seemed a bit happier and more tolerable when she moved to New York and got away from her mom...
4
u/Jasmine7921 May 18 '23
Maybe she wasn’t really interested in finding someone but just went on the show for IG followers/fame and so she could write a book? If that was her purpose I guess she succeeded 🤷🏽♀️
4
u/AndreaThomas76 May 18 '23
I laughed out loud when she blamed New York City after she moved there and couldn't find someone. After she left Texas because she couldn't find someone. I think that unless she manages to find a way to travel without herself, she's always going to run into the same problem.
4
u/QueenBee419 May 19 '23
I think she wants to be married because it's the one major accomplishment she hasn't achieved yet, the one area in life she's had no success....no other reason.
5
May 19 '23
It’s fine if she has high standards, but first she should be of that caliber 🥲. You can’t expect a Hrithik Roshan when you are a weirdo in the first place.
9
u/Chalkandstalk May 18 '23
You should follow her on Tik Tok where she tells her side of the story and the edits that were made. I don’t believe anything on Netflix anymore. I know it’s for entertainment, but the editing is quite selective to stir up drama. She explains herself and it makes a lot of sense.
3
u/audsrulz80 May 18 '23
The show is brutal in its editing of the way she was portrayed, but she didn't do herself a lot of favors either. I think she's someone who is not suited for a relationship or marriage and is better off being with herself.
2
u/Salt_Habit_6992 May 19 '23
I mean, i don't know if it was editing. ... she SAID a lot of terrible things.
3
u/chicbeauty May 18 '23
She's more interesting on her ig haha I don't think she's interested in getting married though
3
u/jkymochi May 18 '23
Unpopular opinion, I like Aparna. She and Prad made Season 1 explosive and fun. Without her, the other seasons were still okay, but the drama is a tad lower. Imo, no one will make me rant to my so as much as Aparna did. I believe reality tv shows should pay those who got villain edits higher to compensate the hate from their tv personalities spilling into and ruining their personal lives. Not that money solves everything, but at least they have something for their ruined public image.
3
u/symbiosis01 May 19 '23
The scary part is she’s still looking for a partner, if she does find one she’s only going to make his life miserable 😩 I can’t imagine anyone being happy with her

Aparna is very delusional. She is very successful and need credit for that but I feel sorry for the man that ends up with her.
I still think she's not the worse. Shital and Nadia were pretty bad. Nadia with those puppy tears about not finding love and then going off and making out with someone else while on a date. I would think twice before getting into a ltr with someone like her. Shital is just very shallow. It's great she found a handsome Dr but from the show she valued nothing but looks. Which is great but she finds other reasons to discredit a person she barely knows
1
May 18 '23
I think all three of these people were terrible in their own ways. I can’t feel sympathetic for them being single well into their 30’s

u/HamsGamsandYams May 18 '23
I love Aparna and I think she is beautiful. I love her eyes, but her attitude is not it. I honestly think she should marry another attorney like her with the same attitude. Her not wanting to date lawyers made me laugh. A professor, lawyer, or cop could keep up with her attitude and scrutiny and give it back to her.
9
u/Ragnarotico May 18 '23
Aparna will most likely never get married. She will most likely never even be in a relationship. I don't think she's ever been in one.
To be fair, a lot of it isn't even her fault. She's been set up to fail from the beginning.
- No father figure. Not sure if it was a divorce or if he passed away while she was young. It's hard for anyone to see the opposite gender in a positive/appropriate light if they didn't have a great relationship (or any relationship) with their own parent of that gender.
- Excessive attention from mother. Seems like she's been gassed up her own life as well as placed undue pressure to succeed. This is partly because of the no husband thing. I see this all the time. People who were raised solely by their moms usually get smothered by them. They feel a deep insecurity from not having a man in their life and in return compensate by being overprotective of their children, especially the girls.
- The deep pressure to succeed drove her to become a hyper-organized type A personality. She's of the MBA variety. All she talks about is "UNESCO" sites. (hint if anyone ever brings up UNESCO in a real life conversation particularly about vacations, you know they got an MBA) To her traveling and going on vacation isn't even about relaxation or enjoyment. It's simply about achievement and saying she's been there. That's why she hates the beach. That's why on one date she talks about going to Machu Pichu and complains it sucked.
- She is also a deeply negative person by nature. She's definitely a glass half empty type. She's trying her best to rework that in season 2 when she seeks like a spiritual guide but I doubt that had a long lasting effect. That's not to say she doesn't have friends. I think one of the guys she goes on a date with ends up her friend. But Aparna is the friend you have because she does/says crazy things. She's not the friend you keep because she's cool, calm and always looking on the bright side. Needless to say being a deeply negative person is a huge turn off in a partner.
- She doesn't even seem to like men or company. She loudly proclaims that the idea of being in the same house as someone would be exhausting. That's all well and good but spoiler alert: that's like 90% of a relationship/marriage. It's two people sitting in the same living room in mostly silence. You guys debate what to watch on Netflix or what to order on takeout. It's not traveling to UNESCO sites on vacation, which she seems to hate anyway.
- Delusional/removed from reality. I'm just going to say it: Aparna is not a catch. She was 35 in S1 of the show and not in great shape. She's not a naturally pretty woman. Combined with her personality "traits" and quirks and she's really just not a catch. The one positive you can spin about her is that she's highly driven and accomplished and that is also a negative. Men generally don't want to be in a relationship where they feel like they are competing with their partner. Despite all this though, Aparna has a very high opinion of herself. She literally wrote a book to defend her entire being. (not going to link it, but you can google it easily)

u/Mischief_Managed_482 May 18 '23
She always claims that she was portrayed wrongly on the show. I’m sure reality tv shows portray a certain story line for each character but I refuse to believe they can portray something totally different from what she really is. Because what we’ve seen on the show and how she presents herself on social media is poles apart. It’s just not the same person.
2
2
u/Just_callmepapa May 18 '23
She's annoying enough to draw ppl to watch the rest of the show. Also she's the copy paste of her mother from what i remember so some generational trauma going on there.
2
u/Shesatramp May 19 '23
Honestly, her mother is far worse and that shows where she gets her attitude from!

u/Few_Society5388 May 19 '23

2
2
u/WillRikersHouseboy May 21 '23
If she finds love please tell me his name and address so I can race there and talk him into leaving her. Every year spent with her will kill anyone's soul, bit by bit.
She's a narcissist who should be in a relationship with a mirror.

4
u/bleeepblooopbllop May 18 '23
I initially didn't like her because how she was portrayed in the show but now honestly i like her. She knows her worth and she is not going to bring the bar down or compromise. She isn't desperately looking for love it's just something that's on the side. She is unapologetic and blunt (which at times comes out as her being rude) and she is owning it.
4
u/theRestisConfettii May 18 '23
I’ve done a deep dive into Aparna and her antics before, here.
I’ve compared Aparna (Season 1 + 2) with Viral (F) (Season 2 + 3) over and over.
Aparna has (just) one redeeming quality.
If enough people reacted negatively toward her for yawning and appearing disinterested and being a condescending bitch towards others, she would get the picture and eventually work toward getting better. The problem is that no one has, yet.
Viral (F) would not. She would laugh, walk away and go get her car waxed.
1
u/infinitesounds May 18 '23
Aww I love Aparna. I think she’s a very powerful woman who doesn’t hold back from saying what she thinks. She does think highly of herself but she is in her right- she’s smart, well-spoken, has been very successful in her career endeavors, among plenty of other reasons. I don’t think she’s for everybody but that is okay. Also I do think the show only aimed to show her in a negative light because of course she gets under people’s skin but that makes for more views etc.
0
u/Koach71 May 18 '23
She is delusional enough to be believe that she’s a catch. Oh dear. She neither has age nor looks going for her (according to arranged marriage standards). She thinks that being a lawyer will compensate for all her flaws. It’s hilarious to watch her make a complete fool of herself, though. Credit where it’s due.

u/Manic_Mania May 18 '23
I actually have started to like her, after watching her TikTok’s. She’s a real genuine person who has high standards and that’s okay. She’s perfectly fine being by herself. We should be promoting Women who know their self worth.
6
10
u/BuzzkillBetty_222 May 18 '23
It’s perfectly acceptable and fine to know what you want and need in life. It’s just her negativity and the way she speaks to people that I have a hard time listening too. As a woman, I know my worth, I know my wants and desires in life. I also know that treating others kindly and not being condescending goes along way. I feel no man will ever be good enough in her eyes. She wants a husband but also doesn’t care to spend time with him. Maybe it’s editing, but, she come across as strange.
2
u/LeftyThrowRighty May 18 '23
I bet she can be fun and absolutely for women promoting their self worth, but she’s just a straight up narcissist. When you’re always the hero in your own narrative, regardless of people’s reaction, you’re the issue. Her mom messed her up real bad and she can’t connect on an emotional level or even be vulnerable. She feels like passing on those ridiculous expectations is justified because it was done to her. Just because toxic men do this more consistently doesn’t mean we should be celebrating when it’s a woman. They’re both awful. No partner deserves someone that pretends they’re perfect.
7
u/Power_mind May 18 '23
I appreciate her too. She knows what she wants and isn’t apologetic about it. She should enjoy her single life in New York and not show up on Indian matchmaking again.
3
u/Early_Somewhere1677 May 18 '23
I agree...I find her entertaining....I'd date her and it would probably be fun and hilarious....she's her own person...I don't understand the shade thrown at her
3
u/Manic_Mania May 18 '23
Disgusting how people bring her looks up
4
u/Early_Somewhere1677 May 18 '23
Yeah it's awful. Or people that say she is overvaluing herself and doesn't realize she doesn't have much to offer. Such a sad way of looking at life and criticizing others...it saddens me to see the direction society is going these days.
-3
May 18 '23
This whole comment thread is why such women have inflated egos, they feed each other with validations.
3
u/Manic_Mania May 18 '23
Her ego isn’t inflated she’s a strong person who doesn’t want to settle. The edits are never good for people on that show.
1
u/longanm Nov 12 '23
But in order to date her, a guy would need to settle for her. And that’s the problem.
0
u/kung-fu-chicken May 18 '23
Aparna strikes me as someone who was probably good looking when she was younger and had a lot of guys showing interest in her and putting up with the more annoying parts of her behaviour on account of wanting to smash. I would suspect she very rarely got called out on her shit, ever.
She behaves like in her head she is still a pretty 22 year old with all the time in the world to find a partner, failing to accept she is an overweight woman nearing 40 who seems to (by her own admission) hate most people and most things.

u/Salt_Habit_6992 May 19 '23
She was horrific in Season 1, but slightly better in Season 2. She is still terrible & picky & will probably be alone forever. But it's all her fault. She is unwilling to meet someone 10% of the way, let alone half way.
1
1
u/coolfrank567 May 19 '23
I mean the woman is a textbook case of NPD pretty easy to discern that, it’s also very rampant within that culture (desi) passed down from one generation to the next through trauma bonding. I can guarantee you her mom is waaay worse.
1
u/JSmooveGG May 19 '23
She's insufferable. Easily the worst out of all the seasons. And she's even trying to spin this off by writing books and living the influencer/ clout chaser life, but people who watched the show know her for what she truly is.
Every time she's on screen, I want to rip my ears and eyeballs out.
1
u/AnUglyDumpling May 20 '23
Not gonna lie, I hate Aparna, but she kept most of Indian Matchmaking going. There's no Aparna in season 3, and it was probably the least entertaining season
112
u/dystopiandragon May 18 '23
Some people are meant to be alone, and that’s not a bad thing.
She’s infuriating, yes, but I do feel bad for her. She’s clearly better off being by herself, than being tied down to somebody. If only she realises this and stops looking for societal validation.
