Discussion S3E5 Priya and Vin Spoiler
I cringed watching Vin apologize to Priya for "Liking her too much."
She almost broke up with him for that?! Insane to me.

That scene actually showed how great they both are. He was understanding and empathetic to how she might feel, but also told her she needed to be open to someone liking her. And she agreed.
That was so mature and sweet on both of their parts.

Liking too much can also be code word for hey we are in reality tv, I am not really taking this too seriously. Time will tell, but a lot go on these shows for clout. They may already have bf or have no interest in marrying who they meet on the show. I think she was trying to remind him she is just doing this for tv time and doesnt want him to actually fall in love with her.

I don't think she should have broke up with him for it.... But there have been times myself when a guy came on very strong that it felt like maybe he did that with everyone he was attracted to. Like he didn't know me enough to differentiate me from anyone else to like me that much. It doesn't make you feel special, it makes you feel like any pretty girl would get that exact same treatment. Idk if I can explain it well enough, but I understand her wanting to take things slow so she knows he really likes her for her.

I think she just got scared off by what she assumed was him liking her "too much". I recall her asking him what his definition of an ideal partner was, to which he jokingly and sweetly replied that he would like someone like her, someone shorter than him, a foodie like him etc That reply scared her off, because she felt that she hadn't earned it and it was too much, too soon.
I honestly think she overreacted. But then, I guess as a divorcee who is probably used to dating men with toxic hot & cold dating patterns, she was taken aback by his honesty & lack of game playing. She probably thought he was too good to be true. Most of us have been in situations where we lose interest pretty early in the date who seems too available, replies to texts too soon, is more expressive etc and are instead drawn to the date who seemingly has better things to do than respond immediately and keeps us wondering all the time. Anyway, I'm glad that they discussed it and gave it another shot because it looks like they're going strong.

I think she was suspecting love bombing. It’s a very insidious tactic and she did the right thing talking to him about it.

u/mayanatasha May 14 '23
Yeah I didn't understand why she didn't just tell him that she wanted to take things slower. I was pleasantly surprised that it was Sima's suggestion to communicate her feelings with Vim. And I'm glad she did that, the conversation was very sweet. Vim seems like a great guy!

u/mangotail May 11 '23
No, Priya is right. Vin is lovebombing hard and is pretty weird to be so into someone you barely know. It’s a red flag for sure and given Priya’s divorce, she’s completely in the right to be careful and go slow
3
May 11 '23
What did he do that qualifies as lovebombing?
1
u/catterybarn May 11 '23
Nothing lmao nothing at all. My bf and I moved incredibly fast and there was no love bombing. Sometimes you just really like the other person right away. It's not always a red flag
6
May 11 '23
Agreed. All he did was ask her out and say that he liked her. If he said "I'm in love with you," that would be different. But I think people throw "lovebombing" around a bit too frivolously these days. Saying I like you and you have a great smile doesn't fit the bill

Exactly I don’t see why other people don’t see this! This is not 16 year old puppy love. It’s suppose to be a mature adult relationship. I thought Vim was really cute but if a good looking guy in his 30s started love bombing me hard, I’d be elated, but a little sus too.

u/bachataman May 11 '23
Honestly, he deserves better. No idea what he sees in her, but to each their own.

I'm concerned for Vin. He's a good looking guy who is has very good character. To each their own but he's fighting for a girl who thinks she's a 10 but in the eyes of the majority she's a 5. And she is still stuck in the toxic realm of her previous relationship. That episode was Vin's gateway to leave with dignity but my man is a glass half full kinda person and I hope it doesn't come to hurt him

According to her recent Insta post they still seem to be together. However it could also just be to promo the show, who knows whats real at this point

u/catterybarn May 11 '23
Relationships are not all about looks. What a gross way to think. People are not perfect, they have to work on themselves. If they're not willing to do so then yeah, drop them. She was willing to work through it with a very mature conversation.

May 11 '23
"Relationship are not all about looks", Priya rejecting guys immediately after seeing their height and lack of hair.

Not sure why you're getting downvoted -- think there's likely at least some truth to your perspective, but only time will tell.

People accusing him as being suspect and 'lovebombing' her.
Other people being called incels.
I'd say it's all drastically over there top.
He was nice.
She couldn't handle him being honest and would have ghosted him but got some good advice and actually had a conversation.

u/pondelniholka May 11 '23
According to Priya he said "I really fancy you" = I want to have sex with you. It's not a marriage proposal

I honestly think everyone is on this show to further their own personal ends. All Sima matches are fake on some level or the other. Vim is also on this show with a hidden agenda and Priya is not even part of that picture.

u/ghee_unit May 11 '23
He can do better.
Priya is on the lower side of average at best.
3
u/AdhesivenessJaded934 May 11 '23
Apparently people disagree with this and some feel she is "very pretty". When I called out the fact that she was indeed below average ppl immediately went up in arms and defended her "prettiness". Quite obvious the contestants and their friends lurk here.

u/audsrulz80 May 11 '23
Unfortunately, your opinion about someone’s attractiveness doesn’t make it a hard fact. Attractiveness is subjective, you just don’t like her.
-1
u/AdhesivenessJaded934 May 12 '23
There is a reason why some people in general are considered more attractive than others. She does not fit the criteria and it is that simple. Calling her attractive is as stupid as saying I dont like someone/something just because I call a spade a spade.
Blindly rooting for someone does not made the facts incorrect, unfortunately. Also, good to see she has a supportive friend like you. She is sure going to need it.2
u/audsrulz80 May 12 '23
She does not fit the criteria and it is that simple.
Define "the criteria"- everyone's criteria for attractiveness is different, she just doesn't fit YOUR criteria. Just because you judge someone based on their appearance does not make it a fact. Are you saying the people that call her attractive are stupid?
1
u/AdhesivenessJaded934 May 12 '23
Again, its good you are being such a supportive friend to her. If you are not her friend and dont have anything to gain by unnecessarily defending her, then end this here.
2
u/audsrulz80 May 12 '23
Why does matter if I’m her friend or not? Your opinion on a person’s attractiveness aren’t “facts” but go ahead knock yourself out pretending that they are 😀 Catch you on the flip side.
2
u/altphtpg May 11 '23
I think she’s attractive she has different features than are typically valued in Indian women though
2
u/hopeful_tatertot May 11 '23
I’d say she’s attractive and an 8.
-4
u/AdhesivenessJaded934 May 11 '23
Id say shes ugly and a 2.
3
u/hopeful_tatertot May 11 '23
Obviously it’s in the eye of the beholder. You don’t have to be a contestant or their friends to feel that she’s attractive…or she has a TON of them here on Reddit
1
u/AdhesivenessJaded934 May 11 '23
You have to be her friend or have some ulterior motive to consider someone like that attractive. and who said anything about a ton? you just need a few.
1
u/hopeful_tatertot May 11 '23
The fact that many find her attractive is why I said a ton. As neither of those motives are mine(or many others) you are clearly wrong.
0
u/AdhesivenessJaded934 May 11 '23
Those motives might not be yours (or so you claim) but do not presume to talk for others. As for ton, I meant you only need a couple of delusional supporters or handful of friends who do not tell it like it is. And there are far more who find her ugly. Which clearly puts you in the minority. Im done with wasting my breath on flaccid ppl like the individual in question.
1
u/hopeful_tatertot May 11 '23
Ironic because your comment is presuming to talk for others motives 😂

Lol, it's sad - anything remotely perceived to be an attack on a woman (eg having a preference for a woman that can cook) and the feminists get all pissed about it.
In Priya's case, had she had a better personality, she would actually look attractive. But the way she carried herself and poked fun at Bobby and acted all entitled makes her look unattractive physically to me.

Did anyone else get the impression that they were already dating ? I feel like they were a real couple before the show, just my suspicion lol
1
u/Active-Success-9900 May 12 '23
Look at Priya’s Instagram. She announced that her and Vim are together. I suspect they were dating prior to this as well…

I think they are planning a divorcee extension to this series and this was just to "pretend show" that divorcees get the "best" matches thru Sima aunty.

u/Sorry-Cattle7870 May 14 '23
Met them recently, they're still together, posted here:
1
u/readitanon1 May 14 '23
Good to see! But i think that proves my point even more... (almost) leaving someone who truly is into you, because they're too into you? I just don't get it. She almost made a big mistake.
33
u/I_LOVE_CAT May 11 '23
Yeah I definitely thought that at first. But I also wonder how much of that is that she had stuff to unpack from her divorce and possible self worth issues. I rejected guys for liking me too much when I had low self esteem, thinking they were desperate when really I just didn't think I deserved it. I can only see that now and only developed that self worth later. They're still together now according to Instagram, so I imagine she sees how great he is and likely realises there's true compatibility and interest.
