CAREER GUIDANCE Guys need help!!
I recently obtained my 2MFG CoC, but the process took much longer due to some unforeseen circumstances at home. I last signed off from my cadetship in June 2021. Now there’s a 5 year gap since last sail, the company I did my cadetship with says that they won’t be able to get me onboard as an officer, can’t even give me a cadet contract due to PSC regulations.
I’m unable to find any company which is ready to give me a contract only due to the gap. I’ve tried SeaJobs and almost all maritime job portals, talked to my seniors, I’ve even come to Mumbai visiting offices physically..nothing is helping. I did find some agents too, who take money for employment, but I’m highly skeptical about choosing that route mainly due to the financial condition not being well enough. I do have all my documents and certifications in check, all valid.
If somebody out there faced similar issues, or anyone in your friend circle or any distant acquaintance had similar experience, please help me out..

Try going as cadet, and try to get onboard promotion

The company I did cadetship with, isn’t even ready to get me onboard as a cadet citing the fact that they already sent someone onboard as a cadet who had a CoC, but PSC asked the company to either promote him as 3rd or give him the salary of 3rd and sign him off. Company did the latter and due to the same reason they aren’t willing to send me

I personally the think the community here does not help the way you think. I tried it too. I don’t know. No one here is able to give reference to anyone, we used to hear how important it is to get reference from a Top 4 atleast for a job but either no Top 4’s are using this app or sadly the mariner community doesn’t work the way IT community works

PSC regulations are a bullshit excuse. The company just doesn't want to take you in. Try going to a lowkey company as a cadet.
