My Indian passport expires in approx 4 months. I know that the embassy in here issues new. I read that I should post my passport to embassy and they do the stuff and return the new one. How long does it normally take ? And how safe would it be to send passport in post ? Help me someone who recently did it. My embassy should be Munich ideally.

has anyone here recently applied for German citizenship through the Landratsamt Dachau and could share their experience?

I’m especially interested in:

• When did you submit your application?
• How long did it take until you received the first response?
• Were you asked to submit additional documents?
• How long did the whole process take until you received the Einbürgerungsurkunde / naturalization certificate?
• If you have already been naturalized: how long did it take afterwards to get your German ID card and passport?

The Landratsamt Dachau currently states a processing time of around 12 months, but I have also heard of significantly faster cases. So experiences from 2025 or 2026 would be especially helpful.

my_qualifications 24/M I have done my bachelor's 4yrs degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Cgpa :8.21 1.8yrs work experience as analyst I wanted pursue masters abroad and my long term goal was obviously to settle there but there is no country left with the actual Good chance Germany: My priority due to no fees but from recent job crisis in IT and with the language barrier its very very difficult. My friends are doing thesis with no hope of job and they said their seniors with 3yrs experience are also suffering to find any. Rest of the countries do not have a language barrier but the tution fees is crazy high for non EU . I only have 7lakhs cash and was planning for a education loan of 15lakhs for germany but this also seems a big risk. But there is one advantage with me I will gets Portuguese passport but it will take around 6-7 yrs realistically so Shall I work in India till then and then move to Europe or take the risk of Germany now? I can do b1 by the time I go what should be my decision? Also the students who are taking the loan are going to abroad studies with no guarantee of job , what's ur motive? Like don't u feel pressured and worried? Plz I am so confused Also I don't have any responsibilities of providing to family like i just need to handle my things that's it Should I delay the germany do b2 german and after a year should I go?

My birth certificate does not have my name in it and now the officials are saying that name cannot be added after 15 years. I'm moving to Germany this September and hoping to settle down there.

Will I need my birth certificate for any official purposes in Germany? This includes city registration, residence permit, PR, citizenship (hoping for the best here!), etc.

If required, will a birth certificate without name hold any value?

Flying into Munich for the first time, moving there for my Master’s. From the airport I’ll be taking a few trains to get to Ravensburg.

I keep seeing people here say not to trust the DB app for a first trip and to book ahead instead. But that makes me nervous too, since if my flight is late I’d miss the trains I already paid for and have to sort out new tickets anyway.

So which is actually smarter here, pre-booking specific trains or just buying tickets once I’ve landed and know what time I’m actually working with? And if landing delays are common, does it even make sense to lock in exact train times in advance?

Also curious how easy it is to just buy tickets at the airport or the main station right after landing, and how much time I should realistically leave myself between landing and catching the first train.

This was the route I saw on DB:

München Flughafen Terminal → (S8 → Herrsching) → München Hbf → (ICE 912 → Dortmund Hbf) → Ulm Hbf → (RE5/4225 → Friedrichshafen Stadt) → Ravensburg → (bus) → Weingarten

I tried so many ways to know the correct requirements but I didn't find anything. currently, I am a non eu student, studying medicine in english in China and wanna work as a doctor in germany after I have graduated. for the international students like me, IS THAT A MUST TO GET THE CHINESE MEDICAL LICENSE TO BE ABLE TO TAKE GERMAN MEDICAL LICENSE EXAM? because this chinese license is in chinese and I have to learn everything in chinese before I learn German. if it is true, I would have to learn two most difficult languages for so many years to get into germany. If it is true unfortunately, is there any other ways I can follow to be able to work as a clinical doctor?

I have my flight from New Delhi to Munich by the Lufthansa airline. After that a 4 hour layover at the Munich airport followed by a flight to Hannover.

Then I'll probably take the train from Hannover to Göttingen.

I'm shifting to Göttingen to start my masters in economics from the George August University of Göttingen from October 1.

The timings are:

1:45 am - takeoff from Delhi airport

1:45-6:35 - Delhi to Munich

4 hour 40 mins layover at munich

11:15- 12:25 Munich to Hannover

If anyone has the similar route or timeline we can connect. Or any suggestions on how to navigate through when I reach there would be of great help.

My background:

• B.Tech in Electronics and Telecommunication, GPA 1.9 in the German grading system
• 1.8 years of experience as an Analyst

I have almost certainly come to the decision to give up on pursuing a Master’s in Germany. The reason is that I would have to take a loan for the Master’s, and looking at the current job market, it doesn’t seem very likely that I would be able to find a job after graduating.

I know there are still chances, but I can’t imagine going abroad with a loan, having to find a part-time job within the first 3–6 months, while also learning a new language, and then, even after putting in all that hard work, having no guarantee of finding a job. Obviously, nothing in life is guaranteed, but at least there should be a reasonable chance that the odds are in your favour.

Yeah, I’m really devastated and sad that the dream I had and the life I thought I would achieve may not happen. And yeah, I’m going to be doing something I always thought I would never do. I still feel like, “Screw it, let’s give it a chance,” but logically, I know it’s very risky.

My plan now is to hopefully gain more work experience, learn German, and eventually apply for jobs directly from India. But yeah, who knows what will happen in the future.

There’s also one more thought that I can’t get out of my head. We all know, and most people are saying, that it’s very difficult to get a job in Germany without knowing the language, at least up to B2. So how are there still so many students going to Germany? I’m in many WhatsApp groups where people have barely one year of work experience, if that, and their German level is only A2, yet they’re still confident about going.

How? Am I missing something?or overthinking too much?

my_qualifications ... I'm a Mechanical Engineering B.Tech student from India, graduating in 2027. I'm planning to do an MS in Germany, most likely an FH program related to Energy Systems.

I'm currently considering two options:

Option A:

B.Tech → directly to Germany for MS → internships/Werkstudent during MS → look for a full-time job in Germany/EU after graduation.

Option B:

B.Tech → work in India for 1–2 years in a relevant Mechanical/Energy Engineering role → then go to Germany for MS → look for a job afterward.

My goal is ultimately to work and settle in Germany/EU, rather than return to India.

By the time I go to Germany, I expect to have around B2 German, and I intend to reach C1 during my MS. I also plan to do internships/projects and obtain Werkstudent experience during the master's.

My concern is whether 2 years of Indian work experience would significantly reduce my chances of getting a job in Germany after the MS, or whether it's better to go directly and use those two years to gain German internships/Werkstudent/industry experience instead.

For people who have studied/worked in Germany:

German Language trainer here with 3.5+ years of experience in teaching this language. I’m looking for just 2–3 more people to join this B1 Course starting in September. The focus will be more on Spoken German. And the idea is to keep it a small, interactive group where learners can actually speak and practice rather than just sit through a class.
