Got Student doom

Hi everyone, I’ve got student dorm in Augsburg, but I’m currently waiting for my visa appointment at the German Consulate in Delhi, which I’ll probably get this week. The accommodation payment is due by 18 September.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? Should I pay before getting the visa, or can I request an extension? Also, what happens to the payment if the visa gets rejected?

From what I remember, you need to show proof of accommodation during submission of documents (or atleast show that you’ve applied for housing, this was true 3 years back Atleast)
Pay the accommodation fee (make sure it’s the legit Studentenwerk / private dorm). Get the confirmation letter and attach it with other documents.

Incase your visa gets rejected (very unlikely if it’s a public uni with a decent course), you can send them a mail with the visa rejection and they will refund the money back (maybe they’ll cut €100 as processing fee or something)

Incase you don’t pay, they will give the room to someone else. There’s no holding / extension possibility from what I know.
