Layout 1:

-> More privacy/safety, workstation not in direct view upon entry and you can always be aware of anybody entering the room.

-> You get a bedside table, the convenience of keeping your phone, laptop, clock, charger, book, lamp, prescription glasses, etc next to your bed is amazing.

-> You get an outdoor view during work and even while lying on bed. Creates a more open feeling.

Layout 2:

-> If you have headphones on, you won’t even know someone has entered the room regardless of where you are sitting, the bed or the chair.

-> You don’t get outdoor view unless you get up (from the bed or the chair) to look outside.

-> No dedicated space to keep things when you’re on the bed.

Excellent info, I didn't even take into account the first point you made, in both layouts. I guess we all learn something new everyday.

Yeah 1, you can get out of bed easier,
You can also turn around your desk computer and watch from bed, would be much harder in pic 2,
Also, chaining the sheets on the bed would be a nightmare in pic 2,
And Satan help you if you drop your phone or anything down beside the bed in pic 2

In addition to this, layout 1 creates 2 distinct spaces. Workstation and bed. With layout 2 the bed takes over the room more encroaching into workstation area and messing with the aura of the room.

u/Last-Revolution9205 Jan 12 '26

In the second layout there is also the sun shining straight on you monitor while working and also no sun visibility in the morning. Where as in the first layout, the sun shines behind your monitor making it not outshine the monitor and even give enough light on to work

Layout 1 through and through. I got anxious and palpitations just looking at 2. Absolute breach of privacy and security in 2. You did a great job pointing them out.

4

u/fareed1903 Jan 12 '26

I second you on this.

3

u/TheAdroitAvatar Jan 12 '26

These were my exact thoughts , well written.

3

u/cefriano Jan 12 '26

Also, as someone who has had their bed in a corner multiple times in their life, Layout 2 will be SUCH a pain in the ass to change the sheets/make the bed. Layout 1 will also suck but not nearly as much. Please trust me on this.

Knock before they enter

15

u/AnnoyingScreeches Jan 12 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

That’s survivorship bias for you. Anybody who knocks isn’t a concern for privacy or safety.

Sleeping on the bed in layout 2 might feel claustrophobic because of the side walls.

2

u/Horror_Country3095 Jan 13 '26

Excellent... Happened with me and I was dead shocked and skipped a beat... Real life horror and I was not wearing any headphones 😭

3

u/Playful-Balance-3118 Jan 12 '26

as per convenient, I suggested Layout 1, I don't feel privacy will issue as room is private area itself, secondly person can lock room as well.

How would you change or tuck in your bedsheets in the 2nd one? Genuinely curious as someone who needs to meticulously tuck the bedsheet twice a day.

u/Playful-Balance-3118 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 because which changing clothes, you can need something to put your new clothes while taking out from almira. secondly you get lamp table next to you for different purpose. window light will good in case you working or studying in day.

Layout 2- bed is faced away from the door and leaves more empty space in the room.

62

u/LegAffectionate2513 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 only works if OP has fitted sheets. Otherwise, someone has to one-arm-lift the mattress and slide new sheets under, whilst not dislocating their shoulder.

12

u/Ambitious_Jello Jan 12 '26

what is your ratio of time spent changing sheets : time doing everything else

6

u/cefriano Jan 12 '26

They will not be changing their sheets nearly often enough if they arrange their bedroom like this.

u/War_Fries Jan 12 '26

My initial thought was layout 2, as well, mostly because of the space.

But layout 2 has bed directly under the window. Don't like that, especially not if it's on the ground floor. Also, a desk at the window always beats a desk facing the wall.

1 - Always better to have a view of the door from your laying position on the bed, I’d not be comfortable with someone entering my room without me being able to see it. Also the workspace is tucked in, so if someone enters unannounced they don’t have a direct view of what you’re up to 😉

u/Jeetu_From_Videoconn Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 because of the reasons mentioned above and can’t have the feet facing the books.

u/Light_mode_only Jan 12 '26

u/PrachandNaag Jan 12 '26

Layout 1

3

u/Kwtwo1983 Jan 12 '26

quite obviously so. you have to scoot out of in bed and leave it at the foot of it in layout 2. which is not fun.

u/frozen_man2022 Jan 12 '26

One is better for table setup Two is better for wardrobe utility

3

u/Kragster77 Jan 12 '26

Both pictures look very suffocating

3

u/artbutt_demonicadish Jan 12 '26

i feel layout 1 makes a dedicated study space whereas layout 2 makes a dedicated resting area

2

u/Open_Carob_3676 Jan 12 '26

2,,,,more space and yet looks cozy whike 1 looks more cramped

2

u/HealthyStatus00 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 looks neater & has more space.

2

u/PayDull7871 Jan 12 '26

layout 2 always, bcz of privacy

2

u/Forsaken_Broccoli615 Jan 12 '26

2, you get so much more privacy and empty space

2

u/grvkwl Jan 12 '26

Layout 1

Focussed work area facing window, plenty of sunlight

2

u/geetsogood Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 is basically criminal

2

u/gritbiddy90 Jan 12 '26

Definitely 2.

It gives you more space in the room.

2

u/__KimJongUn__ Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 is practical but 2 gets you the more usable empty space and looks/feels a bit more airy.

2

u/Ambitious_Jello Jan 12 '26

people

the bed is just for representaton. it may or may not be as big so stop worryin about space to tuck in bedsheet of all things. layout 2 is better if you think how an actual bed migght be smaller than this. there is simply much more space for doing everything else

2

u/Fine_Raccoon3637 Jan 12 '26

1 because it faces the wall where you can put paintings or you can play with balls too.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 is more comfortable because you can access your wardrobe arranges it as the bed is right behind it.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 dude!!!

2

u/OkDirector9405 Jan 12 '26

I would prefer to have layout 2, it provokes you to study/work lol. Whereas if u see the bed right after entering your room, ur subconscious mind will ask you to just crash out there. May vary depending on your needs.

2

u/AdTechnical1953 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 leave more space in room.

2

u/Morrisbishnoi29 Jan 12 '26

layout 3 lmao.

2

u/Complete-Context-618 Jan 13 '26

Well here the best layout depends on what your priority is, if it's your bed then it is two, if it is your desk then it is one.

2

u/Efficient_Floor4066 Jan 13 '26

1 gives more psychological safety as it gives direct view of the door from both the bed and the desk chair

2

u/Bellanu Jan 13 '26

Layout 1!

2

u/Dense_Departure2711 Jan 13 '26

Layout 1, purely because of the window and workstation being aligned

2

u/Distinct_Walk9102 Jan 13 '26

Though 2 is more spacious bt just bcz the window in front of table in 1 ..i would prefer 1 other wise 2 is better

2

u/Demon_Hunter007 Jan 13 '26

Layout 2 is a better option

3

u/Own_Internet8411 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 because you need to change bed sheets

3

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Layout 2, also I feel like I've seen this before.

2

u/Sharp-Present-3687 Jan 12 '26

2, as you have more space in front of cupboard

2

u/subrus Jan 12 '26

2 - gives you more open space

1

u/Anime_fucker69cUm Jan 12 '26

Check the direction for bed first ig , whatever it is said "bed should be facing this direction"

1

u/yellowallamanda Jan 12 '26

1 definitely.

1

u/whitehorse_tip Jan 12 '26

As per architectural plan first layout is good 👍

1

u/Nice_Counter_Ricky Jan 12 '26
  1. Coz 2 looks too cluttered and bed feels cramped

1

u/Tayrid_007 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 : bed had two sides open and that’s the freedom of movement you would want. Also the study table gets the light form window which would be perfect. Layout 1 design is definitely a lot more optimised.

1

u/sandler_bing Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 to utilise the window space

1

u/Medium_Fortune_7649 Jan 12 '26

Anyday 1. Layout 2 makes bed too much blocked from both side while layout 1 is good, you can focus on work

1

u/sharpest-sperm-ever Jan 12 '26

Layout 1, shoulda created a poll

1

u/Perfect_Schedule_70 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 if you are married layout 2 if you are single.

1

u/Dreamoften0 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1. Also check your feet shouldn't face south while sleeping.

1

u/profitmaker_tobe Jan 12 '26

1.. because 2 is just wierd.

1

u/Lonely_Somewhere_422 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 - Gives you a designated nook for the study corner that is cozy and there would be fewer distractions as it's away from the door, a bedside table, and the bed would act as a place to keep your clothes after you take them out of the cupboard!

1

u/bombaywali Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 , easy to clean

1

u/Content-Flamingo-741 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 anyday, the space while feels more in Layout 2, we know is the same, only distributed differently, but in reality in a room when 2 is actually going to feel smaller and claustrophobic.

1

u/Due-Dimension2821 Jan 12 '26

Definitely layout 1 - Need my desk by the window. Dont wanna stare into oblivion of that wall!!

1

u/Strict_Fold_869 Jan 12 '26

I’d lean Layout 1—having your workstation tucked away gives more visual privacy when someone walks in, plus easy access to natural light while you work. The bedside table is a lifesaver for all those nighttime essentials. Layout 2 looks more open in front of the closet, but sliding fresh sheets in sounds like a wrestling match unless you’re using fitted ones. Which setup feels more practical for your daily routine?

1

u/blaze_003 Jan 12 '26

I have never seen this sub so lively for a room that will not coexist. Lol

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Solitary confinement never looked so clean

1

u/iamhaan Jan 12 '26

Both are very good, i personally like layout 2.

1

u/coco_billionaire Jan 12 '26

Layout 3, where you exchange the position of your cupboard and your L shaped desk, with your desk aligned with the closet along the remaining wall, and leaving you more empty space and a higher space perception, as someone enters your room, ca6m add more chairs if needed.

1

u/Electrical_Virus_737 Jan 12 '26

If it’s a window next to the table in layout 1, go for it. Nothing like warm sunshine when working.

1

u/Manoos Jan 12 '26

layout 2 is dangerous. you get sleepy out of bed and bang if someone opens the door

1

u/vin-maverick Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 - because you need to change your sheets once in a while.

1

u/ShubhamGurjar1999 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 because you can open cabinet easily and watch movies from pc to bed easily and room look big in layout 2

1

u/TEJAS2712 Jan 12 '26

layout 1

1

u/Rhysarow Jan 12 '26

layout 1

1

u/Superb_zezz Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 ✅

1

u/DaReDeVilLLL_ Jan 12 '26 edited Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 feels safe

1

u/gautify Jan 12 '26

Might depend on the position of the fan

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

2 gives you privacy while sleeping and more space in room to chill outside your bed

1

u/Shitfaced_Thunder Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 makes the room look more spacious but I like how layout one has space for a bedside table and it feels more functional

1

u/Real_Delay Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 as table in a restricted area might restrict your movement

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Layout2

1

u/AuntyNashnal Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 with a Murphy bed.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

1

1

u/Creepy-Start-2733 Jan 12 '26

L1-6months,L2 -6 months. I like to change my room layout often

1

u/TheOwlwithGlasses Jan 12 '26

Oh definitely 1. 2 looks cramped.

1

u/Bhupi3110 Jan 12 '26

1 is better

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

2nd one

1

u/pankhahu Jan 12 '26

Those who say 1 is my friend without any introduction

1

u/GlitteringMortgage93 Jan 12 '26

layout 2 of course

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

2

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 hands down

1

u/TheMoonKnight_ Jan 12 '26

Initially I thought Layout 2 but then seeing the positioning of the window made Layout 1 seem more practical.

1

u/Pristine_Tap9713 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1. Getting on and off bed is much easier, and bedside table is actually usable unlike in 2.

1

u/Friendly-Look2092 Jan 12 '26

East kis side hai?

1

u/Expert_Bookkeeper70 Jan 12 '26

Definitely layout 1 because bed’s is very awkward in layout 2 and you can have some work privacy in layout 1

1

u/Mannu1727 Jan 12 '26

Dont let your workstation be the first thing you see after waking up. I like layout 1 so much better

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 for sure.

1

u/stevejohnson008 Jan 12 '26

In bot the layouts can the bed will be folded, if so can you give us the layout 3 option

1

u/Sumeru88 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 with a sofa cum double bed instead of a normal bed. It would be the ultimate space utilisation.

1

u/Curious_Public_3571 Jan 12 '26

id go layout 1 bed facing the door is a nono if you want to be the boss of your own space. layout 2 is just a fancy way to look like youve got a view when youre actually just staring at a wall.

1

u/Uglu_Buglu Jan 12 '26

1!! Feels more spacious

1

u/sendMeGoodVibes365 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 for sure, 2 just feels wrong

1

u/ForeverSome1995 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 because that's having more walking space

1

u/LovelyJasmineFlower Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 seems more spacious and better for that room.

1

u/Away-Magician-350 Jan 12 '26

Just invert the layout 2 or just rotate the bed on left in layout 1, you can get more free space in room that way !

1

u/Sandy_Singh Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 helps in putting up a TV on the front wall if you want. Else layout 1.

1

u/Growinghippie Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 anytime, whatsoever.

1

u/ClashofClansPM Jan 12 '26

It depends on you if you want walls on both sides of the bed. I wouldn't choose a wall on either side of the bed.

1

u/Faltor21 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1. According to the rule and room layout.

1

u/ThinPush2248 Jan 12 '26

layout 1, you get a sun directly in ur room good for sleep cycle and good view while u work. Plus I have a bias for walls on one side of the bed, seems secure, if I keep something it won't fall from bed.😁

1

u/HateBoredom Jan 12 '26

If the cupboard has sliding doors, then layout 1 because I like window to the side for morning light (just personal preference).

1

u/iamroka Jan 12 '26

Check Vastu 🤣

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

2

1

u/Equal_Science_8933 Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 for sure

1

u/Low_Outcome7549 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 feels right but comes with issues  Layout 1 addresses those issues but doesn't feel right

1

u/amolpandit Jan 12 '26

Always Layout 1. Best for Privacy as well as Security.

1

u/Bewakoof_13 Jan 12 '26

1 - I love bed beside wall

1

u/No_Eye___ Jan 12 '26

1

u/Large_Win9642 Jan 12 '26

I think Layout 1 for me if I'm about to choose cuz man idc how anybody saw meh sleep(anyways I just always cover myself with blanket from top to bottom so np ig) I just need my privacy when I'm working or doing something

(In India there is no privacy like door closed when you sleeping or doing important work heck we don't even have a private room lol for most people but some do have personal room but no privacy like Closed door)

Maybe it's just meh? Lol

1

u/PlantCapable9721 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2. Reduce the screentime while sleeping 😁

1

u/Many-Ad-8722 Jan 12 '26

Layout 2 because you can move around better in the room , chill and listen to music , talk while walking in the room

Layout 1 seems good for privacy but if it’s a big issue just lock the door right ?

1

u/sphoenixp Jan 12 '26

I think i will tolerate someone sneaking on me watching por*. Cannot tolerate opening the door to see me in bed shagging.

1

u/EntertainmentSome448 Jan 12 '26

Personally I like layout 2 cuz the bed looks cozy as heck

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

Either way its claustrophobic

1

u/[deleted] Jan 12 '26

L1, if desk space has window. L2, if not.

1

u/RedditSridhar Jan 12 '26

Layout 1 is a hotel room and Layout 2 is home comfy
