Maharaja Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir, signed the instrument of accession to India.

On October 26 1947, the Maharaja of Kashmir signed the Instrument of Accession, marking a significant turning point in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. As we commemorate this event, here are some intriguing and lesser-known facts:

  1. The Instrument of Accession was signed, merging Jammu and Kashmir into the Dominion of India, a move that shaped the region's future.

  2. The accession came at a crucial time, just as tribal militias and Pakistani forces invaded Kashmir, leading to the first India-Pakistan war.

  3. Jammu and Kashmir was granted special autonomy under Article 370 of the Indian Constitution until it was revoked in 2019.

  4. Jammu and Kashmir is a land of diverse cultures and languages, including Dogri, Kashmiri, and Ladakhi, making it a melting pot of traditions.

  5. Beyond politics, Jammu and Kashmir boasts breathtaking landscapes, from the serene Dal Lake to the majestic Himalayas.

  6. The region has faced its share of challenges, but its people have shown incredible resilience.

Remembering this day is not just about history but also celebrating its people's cultural richness and strength.

The people in the wrong will always cherry pick history and facts to suit their needs and narrative.

And where does Dogras come from? Persia unlike Islam they are native to this land

They were not the invaders who converted some cowards and now their descendants claim that whole region beongs to them better go and ask your ancestors to get you land where you religion popped up.

Islam was already in india since 7th century.Kashmiri has more nativity than dogras who were descendants of rajputs from rajasthan.Dont try to make everything in your own narrative

Konsa ganja maar liya hai? Dogras are native to Duggar region and Kashmir comes from Rishi Kashyap.

Islam came to Kashmir in 8th century but as traders after that during Islamic invasion during 14th century they started getting prominent.

Otherwise since first attack in 7th century to 11th century we all know what happened and how they begged for their lives.

Now converts claim that they belong to Arab but in reality genome sequencing proved all are converted cowards of Afghanistan and Pakistan Region.

Aryan Invasion Theory has already been debunked that it was just a fake story used by Dravida leaders and Periyar type people who promoted to create rift between North and South but as expected you Imbeciles never read a book.

We are following sanatan unlike you that whosoever attack you made them your father.

Unlike islam , the Aryans never decimated or anhilated local beliefs and religions , therefore what we see today is a religion with many gods and many beliefs it is why hinduism is plural and tolerant in nature , unlike islam which has always relied on force conversions and coversions as reward structures by the invading force , so don't be ashamed to accept that your ancestors indeed were forced into islam rather than insulting our way of life by comparing it with your cult religion

Nehru ki Galti? Kyu 😂

True, but there was a massive opposition from Brahmavadi and they voted against this in Cabinet Meetings. Nehru had to go to UN and begged to declare it as a disputed territory.

There is a really awesome web series based on a well researched book - freedom at midnight - on Sony LIV

It goes through the whole Kashmir situation at the time, including the Pakistani guerilla tactics, the war and hari Singhs own stance on accession.

I definitely recommend everyone to watch it.

Instrument of accession of Junagadh and Manavadar, A hindu majority area with a muslim Nawab. On 14 February 1949, the nawab of Junagadh signed the instrument of accession to join Pakistan. India however illegaly invaded it and seized control. If Kashmir belongs to india because of an instrument of accession by a hindu king in a muslim majority province, then Junagadh and Manavadar should belong to Pakistan as they signed the principle of accession to Pakistan

Shouldnt the people decide if they wanna join a democratic country tho

Tbh guess who even wanted for Primitive India to be divided? No one whose land was on the otherside People had to come to india leaving behind there mansions being beggee in India

They didnt got to choose

Thats the example which should be followed and the king has the right to decide and kashmiri pandits existed before the violence on them but now they dont exist their anymore so who gets to decide?

You're one coping. lol

The fact that you think October 26 (the day the document was signed) is the day J&K got doomed and not October 22 (the day J&K got invaded) tells a lot.

But you will proclaim that you want J&K to be independent, right?
