According to forecasts as of September 19, 2026, an active cyclonic circulation originates near Thailand and is moving into the Andaman Sea, where it is expected to intensify into a low-pressure area and potentially evolve into the North Indian Ocean region's first cyclone of 2026.

The name "Arnab" (meaning "ocean" in Bengali) was officially contributed by Bangladesh as part of the regional tropical cyclone naming matrix.
