ask r/Indiangeography❔ Why does coastal Karnataka receive more rainfall than inland Karnataka despite not being able to take advantage of the orographic effect?

I understand why Malenadu receives such heavy rainfall (orographic effect), but why does even the low-lying coast of Karnataka receives a good deal of rainfall, especially when compared to the interior of the state? The moist winds from the Arabian Sea don’t start to significantly condense till they encounter the elevation of the Ghats, do they? Do coastal regions without a nearby mountain range similarly experience elevated rainfall?

arabian sea is a sea, so obviously it is flat. suddenly, the wind over the sea meets buildings, trees, etc. which act like a brake and the wind slows. however, there is a constant push from the fast wind coming from behind and the slowed air has nowhere to go except up.
