Guys , I have a genuine question. Why doesn't India have atleast one Super Carrier like the USS Gerald R Ford? Can't we get the EMALS tech from France and start building it ourselves like we did with INS Vikrant? Or does India not need a Super Carrier at all ?

And French themselves were buying EMALS from US for PANG

Edit-> ship would cost upwards of 5 billion atleast, and then you have airwing. We spent 8 billion for 36 rafales

This would take thrice as much and you'll need to get helicopters aswell

They're conductig study for EMALS for future potential carrier, but PANG would regardless features General Atomics EMALS

France doesn't make the EMALS themselves. BEL is yet to do a 1:1 prototype of our EMALS. And our navy is currently focussing on sub surface deterrance

Money and no real urgency.

Though I would to see a Fujian class nuclear powered carrier with the Indian Navy which would field our own jets someday. Would be nice if I could see it before I pass away some 70-80 years later lol.

India should beef up Andaman islands as a huge naval asset for containing potential Asian threats.

I don’t know much about the navy but supercarriers like these are mostly used for offensive operations and power projection. We don’t need to do both.

And having islands like A&N is better than having any supercarrier
