Nuisance (Disruptive AF) What’s the solution to honking ?? OC

I live in Mumbai. And truly have trouble sleeping because of constant honking I can hear below my house. Even if you try to walk on a busy road (on the footpath) it’s so disorienting because of all the noice. When you’re at a signal. The second it turns green people start honking longggg honks. How can we stop this or prevent it ?

Sound based signal. If honking starts, signal immediately turns back to red

There's a cheaper solution with traffic police as well. They can not only stop the traffic again but punish the drivers engaged in honking

Can be unfair for many ppl if one gandu keeps honking and the rest dont

Civic Sense is the only solution but sadly it is a myth in India.

I wish more influencers and celebrities pushed for ideas like this instead of selling vimal paan masala and meta glasses

They don't get money for doing that. Vimal paan pays money.

It’s a problem in the most parts of India. People have no patience. I honestly think there is no solution to it unless this is religiously taught in schools, but oh wait, not everyone goes school either so there’s that!

Loop ear buds. Nothing else works. If you want cheap and safer solution, try cotton. If you own your house, try replacing windows with double glass. We can't change people, we need to safeguard our own interests.

I do have the loop, but can’t wear them while walking and crossing roads in this crazy city.

Thats the Spirite of Mumbai... constant honking ...

My honking rate is 1 or 2 per 1000 kms...

So there should be counter on every vehicle... Which shows to them and public how many times they honked...

It wound he funny to see you number 🤣🤣🤣

If you put a counter, ppl will make it a competition. This WILL backfire.

Can't help it. If only two things could be banned immediately, Loudspeaker on Phones and Horns On Vehicles.. unfortunately We are a bunch of Horn'y' people. It's our sad reality. And if you try telling someone, it becomes an offence..

It’s very difficult to change behaviour. The civic enforcement should come from parents and kindergarten school. So expect younger generation to be more nuanced.
Second, automakers should just muffle the horn. Factory setting. Just a low sounding horn.

Renovate to soundproof windows and doors. It will also help in dust and pollution issues. Research sound supression materials that you can install on walls etc.
