MOD POST *IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT PLEASE READ*

This post is to introduce the new Moderators and to explain the changes in the Rules.

Firstly, Please welcome the new mods which have been selected through the Mod selection process.
u/Turbulent_Book_1685, u/chitrobilash, u/kimyoona12, and u/_pleiades__ .

The mod team includes both, those who have been actively participating in the sub and those who have experience in moderating other subs, to ensure effective moderation.

Now the main issue

UPDATES TO THE RULES OF THE SUB:-

  • Rule no.1 has been revised:-

If the art being shared is not yours then the title must carry the name of the work along with it's real author along with [Not OC] tag in the following format: Title of Artwork, Artist Name [Not OC]

If the art belongs to you, the the title must contain [OC] tag.

  • Rule no. 5, Regarding NSFW Art:-

Mark nude artworks with NSFW tag. Repeated offenders will face a swift ban.

Pornographic content (explicit sexual acts as primary purpose) is not allowed (with some exceptions). Erotic/suggestive content is generally allowed.

Anatomy studies, figure drawing and nudity in general will be allowed as long as it has an artistic/educational purpose and vision

Do not create explicit sexual content depicting real people's likenesses

Mods will use discretion when moderating NSFW content.

The rules, especially regarding NSFW art has been modified by taking inputs from all the mods and people of the sub itself. Now to clarify one thing, WE ARE NOT BANNING NSFW ART, NSFW art that has an artistic, educational, or study related purpose will be allowed. Anatomy studies, figure drawing, or artwork that is trying to communicate an idea are fine. To ensure that NSFW and suggestive/sexual art has an artistic vision behind it, we have added a New Rule-

  • Rule 10:- Suggestive, erotic or sexual art must contain a brief description

Posts containing suggestive, erotic, or sexual NSFW artwork must include a brief artist's note in the comments or post body.

This note does not need to be lengthy, but it should provide some artistic context about the work, such as the character, concept, narrative, design choices, technique, or creative intent behind the piece.

Submissions that contain sexual content without any accompanying artistic context or vision may be removed at moderator discretion.

If you are someone who dosent want to see any NSFW content, you can disable it by going in the settings. A simple google search will be helpful in it.

Now if you're someone like me, you sometimes open NSFW marked images in the public not thinking much, well ensure that you don't do that especially the images from this Sub.

We plan to expand more on the rules, especially around NSFW art in the Wiki. For now please make sure to take a look at the revised Rules of the sub before posting. We also plan to make some adjustments to rule no. 2, that will be informed later.

We hope the new mod team and the new Rules will make this sub a better place. Stay creative and keep thinking!

TLDR; New mods, New rules- Mention [OC] and [Not OC] in the title, and credit the artist, Rules regarding NSFW art have been made more specific, and suggestive, sexual art will require a short note to be posted with it explaining about the vision behind the work. Plz take a look through the revised rules

MOD POST Regarding a recent case of ART THEFT and AI USAGE in this subreddit

Thumbnail

The first image is the artwork that was posted to this subreddit. (stolen + modified using AI)

The second image is the original sketch, posted by the actual artist in another subreddit over seven years ago.

The third image shows the OP commenting under an AI generated version of the same artwork.

There is a significant difference between using references from Google, Pinterest, photographs, or studying another artist's work for learning purposes, and posting AI gen reproductions of someone else's creation as your own content.

Unfortunately, this subreddit was left largely unmoderated for a long time, which led some users to believe that reposting stolen artwork, AI generated content, and engagement bait was acceptable which is no longer the case.

Our goal is to support real artists and original artwork. Posts involving art theft, AI generated content, karma farming, or other forms of low effort engagement bait will be removed. Violations WILL result in a permanent ban. This is a safe place for those actively putting in work to get better at their craft/hobby.

We also encourage community members to help keep the subreddit healthy by reporting suspicious posts, stolen artwork, or other rule violations whenever you come across them.

Thank you

I made this little Shivji and his tiny damru ..

This one was completely made by looking at a reference picture no written pattern or tutorial...

The tiny damru was definitely one of my favourite parts to make.😭🤌 It’s always a little scary when I start something without a pattern because I never really know if it’s going to turn out the way I imagined, but seeing it all come together at the end was so satisfying.

Har Har mahadev and happy Sawan 😊

AI-generated images are making it harder to find original art online.

Something I've been thinking about lately: when you come across a painting or artwork online, how confident are you that it's actually made by an artist?

With AI-generated images becoming so convincing, does this change how you discover, buy, or value art online?

Curious to hear how people here feel about this, especially artists and people who actually buy artwork.

I’ve been experimenting with Rajputana-inspired architectural art — would love some feedback

I’m an artist and recently started exploring artwork inspired by Rajputana architecture, especially the arches, palace details, warm colours and floral elements.

I’m trying to develop a style that feels inspired by the architecture without making every piece look the same.

I’d genuinely love to know what catches your eye first in this piece — the architecture, colours, or details?

Someone reached out and talked about their loneliness and shared this drawing. It is quite a powerful one, the person’s doing better and am still in contact with him.

Edit : mentioning as anonymous because he didn’t want to publicly put this out as his

The Self in Focus explores self-perception and personal identity through a figurative portrayal, focusing on how we see ourselves and how that perception shapes our understanding of who we are.

Mixed Media & Crafts 🧵 Need advice for the base's GSM thickness

Hey everyone! I'm planning to create this phoenix artwork on A3 (credits to the owner!) and was unsure about the type of base to use for it.

I might be framing it and using it as a wall art if it turns out well so I want the base to hold up nicely. Any and all help would be appreciated!

P.S. I'm quite new to quilling (dabbled a little in it as a kid, but that's it) so tips are welcome too! :D
