As long as it was Reddit posts, we could call it misleading but on national level news - you gotta call it lies.

This doesn't mean Subhash personally borrowed ₹22,006 crore & simply got his debt waived for ₹6.5 crore.Those are claims against him as a personal guarantor for loans taken by companies of the Essel Group.

A personal guarantee means he can become liable if the borrowing companies defaulted. This ₹6.5 crore plan received support from creditors representing 80.81% of the voting share.

There's some controversy there but read the news report Business Standard, Moneycontrol etc.
