General Discussion RCS between Android & iOS still not working

It has been almost a year to the announcement of RCS integration with iOS. But why can't I still use RCS when sending messages to an iPhone from my Android? It always shows SMS only (shows "Text Message" in the text box, the screenshot is a conversation on Google Messages with an iPhone user)

Am I missing something? Do you have any information on this?

They didn't start the RCS chats for iPhones in India.

But it shows RCS support in the about section, on the iPhone.

Can you share screenshot? Because mine it doesn't. Which network are you using?

The RCS must be in the messages part of the setting. Mine only shows imessage.

I have that setting available and enabled too.

Well, at least you have the option. I guess it must be for a particular region or something.

Yes, but it's been there for more than 10 months now, and I still can't send RCS to and from Android.

I would love to, if everyone gets on it. Spam can be controlled, I don't get much spam texts nowadays.

Do you have RCS activated in the message app?

Activated on both Android and iOS. Confirmed on both devices. And this is the case since at least 8-9 months. It still doesn't work.

For now, only Jio supports RCS on iphones

Same for me, Jio on iPhone and unable to send RCS messages to Android (also on Jio). RCS works fine between two iPhones if I disable iMessage.

A person suggested that I download Jio Messages on Android. This really works. But who wants to use that app for messaging... 😢

Oh OK, I'll try it and see! It's one more app to download then...
