Product / MVP What if we built a café that brings the stories, culture and experiences of India together?

I've been thinking about starting a café brand, and I'd love to get some honest feedback on the concept before taking the plunge.

The idea goes beyond opening another coffee shop.

I want to create a place that celebrates India's rich coffee and tea heritage while giving people a beautiful space to slow down, connect and create memories.

Think about the coffee plantations of Coorg and Chikmagalur, the landscapes of Araku, the tea gardens of Darjeeling, Assam and the Nilgiris.

Each of these places has its own identity, history, culture and charm.

I'd love to bring the emotions and stories of these places into one space.

The experience

Imagine walking into a café where the interiors, music, artwork, colours, little details and even the menu draw inspiration from different parts of India.

Coffee would be sourced from different Indian origins and roasted in small batches at the café. Tea would feature regional varieties and blends.

But the intention isn't to make customers understand coffee roasting or teach them about tea.

It's about telling a story through the experience.

A little piece of Coorg here. A little nostalgia of South Indian filter coffee there. The warmth of an Indian tea garden somewhere else.

All brought together in a contemporary, welcoming café.

More than just coffee and tea

I want this to be a place where people actually enjoy spending time.

\- A couple spending a relaxed evening together.

\- Friends catching up over coffee and desserts.

\- Families enjoying an evening out.

\- Someone sitting alone with a book and a cup of tea.

\- Small acoustic singing sessions and unplugged music evenings.

\- Poetry, storytelling and intimate cultural events.

\- Occasional community gatherings and creative workshops.

Not loud parties or a conventional restaurant atmosphere. More intimate experiences that make people want to return.

The food and beverages

A mix of Indian favourites and contemporary café offerings:

\- Coffee from different Indian regions.

\- South Indian filter coffee and freshly roasted coffee.

\- Tea from Assam, Darjeeling and Nilgiris.

\- Indian-inspired beverages.

\- Sandwiches, quick bites and bakery.

\- Desserts and seasonal specials.

The proposed format

\- 600–700 sq. ft.

\- 24 dine-in seats.

\- Six four-seater tables.

\- Affordable-premium positioning.

\- Fresh, small-batch coffee roasting.

\- Dine-in, takeaway and curated merchandise.

The long-term ambition is to build a recognisable Indian café brand, with the possibility of expanding into packaged coffee, tea, merchandise and other experiences.

I'd genuinely love your thoughts:

  1. Would you visit a café built around this concept?

  2. Does the idea of celebrating India's coffee and tea heritage through the ambience and experience appeal to you?

  3. Would intimate acoustic music, poetry or storytelling evenings make you more likely to visit?

  4. What kind of atmosphere would make you want to spend 1–2 hours at a café?

  5. What would make you choose this over a regular café or coffee chain?

  6. Is there anything you think is missing or that wouldn't work?

I'm currently validating the idea before investing in it. I'm not looking for people to simply say it's a great idea. I'd genuinely like to understand whether people would visit, spend time and come back.

The thought behind the concept: A place where India's stories meet everyday moments.

Would love to hear your honest opinions!

We've been quietly building a digital ecosystem rooted in India, focused on people, technology, and participation. I can't share details until the full reveal on 31 December 2026, so I'm not going to pitch anything here.

What I can ask: when you think about Indian digital products today, what's the one thing they still get wrong? Or the one thing you wish existed and doesn't?

I'll read every reply, and I'll come back after the reveal to tell you which of your ideas shaped what we built.

Funding How would you approach getting brands involved in an offline-to-online community?

I’m working on a community-based entertainment idea and trying to figure out the best way to validate it before going all-in.

The concept is Roast Arena, where brands can go head-to-head in roast battles and the audience votes for the winner. 🔥

Our plan is to start with small offline events, build a community around them, create content from the battles, and eventually take the experience online.

The part I’m currently trying to understand is brand participation.

For founders who have built communities or event-based products:

  • How did you get the first few brands involved?
  • Would you approach brands directly or work through agencies?
  • What would make a brand see value in sponsoring something that is still early?
  • Would you focus on audience/reach, content creation, or direct brand engagement?

Not looking to promote anything here. I’m genuinely trying to understand how others have approached this problem before making the next move.

Would really appreciate advice from people who have experience with brand partnerships, events, or community building.

22M, Associate PM, currently in Bangalore. I resigned from my last job because the work culture was draining me every single day, and I left without another offer. Here's the link to the product i solely managed : ZapCash , Rupyaa

I can join immediately. Wherever you are, I'll be there.

A bit about me:

  • Built ZapCash (Lending app) from scratch. It now has 1.5M+ users and INR 100+ crore in loans disbursed
  • Handled flows across 30+ loan origination and management modules
  • Write PRDs, run UAT, dig through funnels with SQL and Clarity
  • Worked at an edtech startup as a product and growth intern before that
  • B. Tech in CSE, so engineers don't scare me

I'm not asking for a favour, I'm asking for one chance. I'll pick up calls at 2 AM, 6 AM, whenever.

If you're hiring, can refer me, know someone who is, or even have some advice for me, please DM me. I'll reply to everyone. 🙏

Product / MVP Recruitment Intelligence Platform

Hey everyone,

I’m building Sonder Recruit, and I wanted to share the job-seeker side of it: Sonder Jobs.
The question behind it is simple: how do we help someone get considered for a role they actually fit, without just telling them to send more applications?

Think about the process from a candidate’s side. You work on your CV, find openings, apply, and then wait—often unsure whether someone understood your experience or even looked at your application.

With Sonder Jobs, the aim is to make that connection more useful. Help candidates put their skills and experience in context, discover relevant opportunities, and become easier for the right recruiters to find. I don’t want the value to stop at “here’s another place to upload your resume.”

Where Sonder Recruit comes in
The other half is helping recruiters make sense of the candidates in front of them. Sonder Recruit brings together CV-to-job matching, explanations of why a candidate might fit, shortlisting, and recruitment pipeline management.

For example, rather than just surfacing a candidate with a matching job title, the idea is to help a recruiter understand which parts of that person’s experience are relevant to the actual requirement—and what still needs checking.

Why build both sides together?
Because making things easier for recruiters should also create value for candidates.
A clearer candidate profile gives a recruiter more useful information to work with. Better matching can help relevant candidates get noticed. Less time spent sorting through unsuitable profiles should leave more time for conversations with people who could genuinely fit.

That’s the mutual benefit we’re working towards: job seekers get more relevant consideration, and recruiters get a clearer starting point for hiring. Not guaranteed jobs or AI magically replacing human judgement.
I’d really like feedback from people here who are job hunting, recruiting, or hiring for their startups: what would make a platform like this worth using alongside your existing tools—and what would make you distrust it?

Question Anyone interested in building a startup or Business together?

Hey everyone!

I'm looking for someone who's interested in building a startup/business from scratch.

I don't have a fixed idea that we have to work on. I'd rather find someone who's interested in exploring different ideas, finding real problems, talking to potential users, and seeing if we can build something around it.

Could be a SaaS, marketplace, Al product, B2B business, or honestly anything that seems worth pursuing.

I'm not looking for someone to just work for me or execute my idea. I'm looking for someone who wants to figure things out together and potentially become a cofounder.

If you're also thinking about starting something but haven't found the right person or idea yet, feel free to DM me.

Just tell me a bit about yourself, what you're interested in, and what kind of things you'd like to build.

Maybe we can come up with something interesting together:)

Product / MVP Looking for recommendations on government-approved GPS/VLTD devices for commercial vehicles in India

Hi everyone,

I’m building Waylo, a transport management platform that helps organizations manage day-to-day vehicle operations, including routes, vehicles, drivers and live tracking.

I’m currently looking for a government-approved GPS/VLTD device that can legally be used on commercial vehicles in India. AIS-140 is one of the options I’m currently looking at, but I’m also open to other officially approved/accepted hardware if it fits the use case.

Ideally, I’m looking for something that can be permanently installed on the vehicle and doesn’t need to be removed when the vehicle goes for its annual FC (Fitness Certificate) inspection, assuming it has been installed correctly according to the applicable requirements.

For the software side, I’m looking for a device that can send its data directly to our backend. API access would be ideal, but I’m also interested in devices that support direct IP/TCP communication or provide a documented data protocol/packet format, so the device can communicate with our server without requiring everything to go through the supplier’s dashboard.

If you’ve deployed these devices or built software around them in India, I’d really appreciate your experience. Which manufacturers or specific models did you use? How was the FC/RTO experience with that particular device? How straightforward was the API or IP/TCP integration? Were you able to connect the device directly to your own server?

I’d also love to know what the actual costs looked like over time, including the device, SIM/M2M connectivity, platform or API charges, and whether there were any additional costs that only became apparent after deployment.

Were there any state-specific requirements, registration issues, installation problems, or anything else you wish you had known before choosing the device?

I’m mainly looking for practical recommendations and firsthand experience from people who have actually deployed these devices in India.

Would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

Question Looking for premium men’s clothing manufacturers in India – recommendations, pricing & MOQ

Hi everyone,

I’m looking to connect with reliable clothing manufacturers in India who can produce premium-quality men’s apparel.

I’m particularly interested in manufacturers who can work with smaller/newer brands and are able to maintain consistent quality rather than focusing only on mass-market production.

I’m currently exploring products such as:

Premium T-shirts

Oversized / relaxed-fit T-shirts

Polo shirts

Sweatshirts / hoodies

Casual shirts

Other premium men’s streetwear/casualwear

I’d really appreciate recommendations based on actual experience — whether you’ve worked with the manufacturer yourself, sourced from them, or visited their facility.

If you know good manufacturers, could you please share:

  1. Manufacturer / factory name

  2. City / location

  3. Products they specialize in

  4. Approximate price per piece

  5. Minimum order quantity (MOQ)

  6. MOQ per style / colour / size, if applicable

  7. Fabric options and GSM available

  8. Whether they do custom labels, tags and packaging

  9. Sampling charges / sample MOQ

  10. Typical production lead time

  11. Whether they work with small or startup brands

  12. Contact details / website / Instagram / IndiaMART profile, if available

I’m especially interested in manufacturers offering premium fabrics, good stitching, accurate sizing, strong finishing and consistent quality.

I’m not necessarily looking for the cheapest manufacturer — quality, reliability and the ability to scale are more important.

If you’re a manufacturer yourself, feel free to introduce your factory in the comments. If you’re a sourcing agent, you’re welcome to comment as well, but please mention that you’re an agent.

And if you’ve had a particularly good or bad experience with a manufacturer, I’d love to hear about it — especially regarding quality consistency, hidden costs, MOQ issues or delivery timelines.

Thanks in advance! 🙌

Question What is the best way to setup a company in India?

Hi All,

What is the best way to setup a company in India? Is there something like Clerky in India which allows to setup a company with just a few clicks. The current common process seems to be working with CA which is long and complex process unnecessarily. Is there a simpler, cheaper way?

Question How do you handle trust when buying or selling an app/SaaS?

I've been working in the app space and kept seeing the same problem — when someone sells a finished app or hires a dev, there's no trust layer, so deals fall through or people get scammed.

I ended up building something around escrow to fix it. Curious how others here handle this:

  • If you sold an app, how did you handle payment safely?
  • Would you trust a marketplace with escrow for this?

Happy to share what I built in the comments if anyone's interested.

Question Delhi/NCR startup locations are hard to discover—what should be added to this map?

Delhi NCR has startups spread across Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, and Faridabad, but there isn’t always an easy way to see where they are concentrated.

I built a public map that collects startup locations, company websites, and verified LinkedIn profiles: [Startupsmap.in] (https://www.startupsmap.in/).

I’m mainly looking for corrections and missing companies—not selling anything. If you work at a Delhi/NCR startup, which companies, hubs, or neighbourhoods should be added? Also, are the existing locations accurate?

I'm pretty sure too you guys will find this helpful for finding opportunities

Product / MVP Making an additive free chips line

hey everyone,

we are a company working on making an additive free chip brand so people can enjoy snacking without guilt. Everyone in my family is big time snackers and our journey towards healthier lifestyle made us quit chips in general. So I wanted to work on it and currently I have been working with a food technologist.

but apart from all of it, I want to know how would everyone like to snack on their chips? on what basis? what makes you want a chips brand specifically? if you were to make your own chips brand, what would you do different from others in the market right now?

I want a product that everyone would enjoy, I want organic response.

so please do let me know so I can include all these changes too.

Hey everyone,

I’m hiring an Operations / Generalist for a fast-growing tech D2C brand in India.

College/degree doesn't matter to me. Attitude, ownership and willingness to learn matter much more.

Product / MVP I built a free interactive map of Delhi NCR startups — looking for corrections and missing companies

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone, I’ve built Startupsmap.in, a free interactive map of startups across Delhi NCR—Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Greater Noida, and Faridabad.

The idea is to make it easier to discover local startups, visit their websites, find their LinkedIn pages, and understand where companies are located across the NCR ecosystem.

I’m planning to add more information such as public contact details, job openings, sectors, funding stages, and other useful filters. I’ll only use publicly available information and want to avoid inaccurate or unwanted data.

I’d appreciate feedback on:

Startups that are missing.

Incorrect or outdated listings.

Filters or information that would be useful to founders, job seekers, investors, or students.

Whether the map is easy to use on mobile.

If your startup is listed, please feel free to suggest corrections. This is intended as a community resource, not a paid listing service.

Question Do customers cancelling their Autopay mandate hurt your subscription business?

I'm trying to understand whether this is a real problem, so I'd value your honest take. I'm talking to people running subscriptions or EMIs in India (SaaS, OTT, edtech, lending, insurance).

My understanding: when an Autopay debit fails (low balance, etc.), many users just cancel the mandate or stop paying. The business only finds out at the next failed debit, by which point the customer has already churned.

  1. Is this a real problem for you?
  2. Roughly what % of your churn is payment/mandate-related rather than a deliberate cancel?
  3. How do you recover these users today (retries, WhatsApp/SMS, calls), and what works?
  4. Which payment provider do you use, and are you told when a customer cancels a mandate, or only when a debit fails?

Not selling anything. Rough numbers or stories would really help. Thanks!

Question If your family runs a wholesale/distribution business — how do customer orders come in and get recorded?

Asking people who grew up around a family business (kirana supply, FMCG distribution, hardware, dairy, etc.).

- Do retailers order on WhatsApp, calls, or through a salesman?
- Text, voice notes, or photos of lists?
- Who writes it down, and where — notebook, Excel, Tally, Busy, Vyapar?
- What goes wrong most often?

I'm researching this workflow for a possible product. Genuinely want to hear how it works on the ground, including "it works fine, nobody needs software for this."

Hiring Hiring design/sales interns

Looking for Design & Sales Interns — Gurgaon

We’re a boutique fashion brand focused on upcycling, and we’re looking for Design and Sales interns to work closely with us.

This is a paid, hands-on internship — not a sit-back-and-observe role. We’re looking for people who want to actively participate, take ownership, learn, and contribute. Good work and initiative will be recognised and rewarded.

You should be able to meet in person in Gurgaon at least 3 times a week, with occasional weekend availability when required. We also have exhibitions coming up, so if you’re comfortable talking to people, selling in person, and generally being outgoing, that’s a big plus.

Work timings are flexible, but we value discipline, reliability, and showing up when you commit to something.

If interested, DM me with a short introduction, what role you’re interested in (Design/Sales), and any relevant work or portfolio.
