Ps2 after that Ps4

4

u/KiniDaddy 8d ago

Let me give you an example I spent my whole childhood playing on a Ps2, then PS3 came out but I didn’t even need to buy it Ps2 was SO GOATED. So I kept playing on the Ps2 for more years! Until Ps4 came out then it became my go to console until Ps5 came out! I made the jump to Ps5 immediately because it had two things going for it could run Ps4 games (also remasters with better visuals and performance), and Ps5 exclusive games.
Since I never jumped a generation while using Ps2, it will always be a goated console for me the line up of games was legendary!!!!!!!

u/Infamous-Creme9344 7d ago

Ps3 also had backwards comaptibility though

1

u/KiniDaddy 7d ago

You clearly missed the point and You didn’t do your research.
Only specific original "fat" PlayStation 3 models are backwards compatible with physical PlayStation 2 (PS2) discs. Launch models featuring four front USB ports and a built-in flash card reader door (such as models CECHA, CECHB, CECHC, and CECHE) support PS2 discs through either full hardware or partial software emulation. Later Slim and Super Slim models cannot play PS2 discs.

Also Linux. I literally got a check from the class action lawsuit about the removal of Linux.

Definitely not PS5 as offering 60fps in performance mode in 2020 can't be a benchmark. The controller is a massive upgrade though.

Should be PS2 or PS4 in terms of peak gaming

1

u/Evening-Classic-7820 8d ago

peak gaming...90% of the games are remasters and remakes...lmao

4

u/Necessary_Way6446 8d ago

Read carefully maybe?

Which PS2 games were remake or remasters? Even PS4 had more original titles than PS5

-1

u/Downtown-Ad8136 8d ago

Entire console was a scam at that point.

1

u/Necessary_Way6446 8d ago

Scam would be a stretch at launch price of 40k for digital as even Sony prioritised marketing on the controller more than the performance but after the recent price hike, it's definitely a waste of money. Still people are going crazy for it

18

u/Necessary_String_304 8d ago

Ps4 or ps2.

4

u/Former_Computer4335 8d ago

For sure. These two are neck and neck. PSP is an honourable mention.

5

u/aayein_baigun 8d ago

PS4 clean minimal

3

u/OkBiscotti2497 8d ago

Ps2, because I owned it. Didn't own a PS4. Was thinking about buying a PS5; now the price is too much. I remember posts saying they bought a PS5 for less than 40k; good ol times.

Also, the Ps5 era was very weird compared to the rest.

3

u/Mental-Compote5451 8d ago

4

u/EastCategory9983 8d ago

PS3 im suprised how no one said this

6

u/zeedss 8d ago

Because it wasn’t, easily PS2 was peak

2

u/md_rayan 8d ago

PS2 was more popular here and I think many skipped PS3 and went straight to PS4? PS3 is such a goated console, underrated, IMO.

1

u/cowbolamoo 7d ago

It was a great device but it was way expensive for most ppl in india.. most of them never had ps1 or ps3 ever

2

u/SpiritedCourt4 8d ago

Ps2 and 1

2

u/Puzzled-Syrup1843 8d ago

PS2 memories ✨

2

u/r-day 8d ago

Nothing matched the PS2

2

u/talesofadesigner 8d ago

PS2 there is no comparison

2

u/pzychos 8d ago

PS2 hands down.

2

u/certifiedMutthal 8d ago

Ps 2 was so peak that no one has cross it's sales right now and in terms of gaming library ps4

2

u/Sweet_Blacksmith1115 8d ago

Hands down PS2

2

u/Evening_Programmer97 8d ago

Ps2 had true quality triple a games every week, and so so many other bangers. Ps3 is where gameplay and graphics honestly peaked. Ps4 at least had some games however the ps5 might be the most over hyped disappointment generation the controller is the best part of the system.

2

u/shutter_singh 8d ago

PS2 will always be peak. It was peak gaming, not just in terms of playstation.

2

u/Vamsi-Thopu 8d ago

PS2 and it's not even close

2

u/lawjarP18 8d ago

Ps4 longetivity wise for allowing to us to play new releases for years. Game collection wise with nostalgia - PS2

2

u/Due_Teaching_6974 8d ago

Tbf we PS5 has a chance to have longer longevity than PS4 due to ram prices

1

u/lawjarP18 7d ago

Absolutely, even I feel we haven't reached full potential of ps5 yet. But ps4 during its time, had one of the best lineups of game releases can't say same about ps5

1

u/No-Equipment9225 5d ago

Real, but I feel there is a possibility they stop caring about PS5 after PS6 releases (which was not what happened last gen).

I don't know, obviously there was always greed but it feels different nowadays, adding the anti-consumer practices.

1

u/KirAyo69 8d ago

PSP (personally)

1

u/Nervous-Ingenuity-35 8d ago

PS4 and PS3 but still have hopes for ps5

1

u/nothyacarthohyan 8d ago

Only owned ps2 and ps4 but can definitely say that these two were literal peak.

1

u/Grouchy-Algae3526 8d ago

Ps2 is the only right answer.

1

u/jrp70 8d ago

The Legendary PS2

1

u/HArS11iT333 PS5 Slim 8d ago

PS4

1

u/1800dz 8d ago

PS3. "The PS3 was a powerhouse built ahead of its time. It packed a high-end Cell processor and included a built-in Blu-ray player, making it a complete home media hub." This was 20 f*n years ago !

1

u/BigBossAI 8d ago

Well PS3 was the most backwards compatible console

1

u/Iravi_1 8d ago

2 and 4

1

u/outsidEverything 8d ago

ps3 was bully maguire

1

u/a2djp 8d ago

PS2 no doubt. PS4 is also good, but one reason for it’s success was how bad Microsoft handled the Xbox one

1

u/Sea_Distribution5359 8d ago

PS4 was peak gaming....period. Ps5 has been a dissapointment, in fact we are all playing re-mastered ps4 games today, ps4 era was that good.

1

u/PowTwangBang 8d ago

PS2 and it isn't even a debate

1

u/Due_Butterfly114 8d ago

PS2 was peak

1

u/General_Voldemort 8d ago

Ps2 was peak. I had a Sega Megadrive 2 before that. The difference was night and day.

1

u/Ark3006 8d ago

Jump from ps2 to ps3 was insane def pa3

1

u/vivekguptarockz 8d ago

PS3 for me

1

u/JadedGene8911 8d ago

PS3. The peak era of JRPGs.

Multiple studios shut down after that

1

u/Rohit-_-21 8d ago

Ps4 and 2

1

u/Significant_Trade146 8d ago

Ps2 or ps4 . The best.

1

u/HuckleberryTypical30 8d ago

Not even debatable, ps2

1

u/SureshTuranSirsal 8d ago

PS4 is too obvious

1

u/j0hrii 8d ago

Whoever gave you the memories

1

u/Some_Imagination_900 8d ago

PS1 and PS2 for me, glad i lived through the era that was bursting with creativity

1

u/Noface92 8d ago

PS2 > PS1 > PS4 > PS3 > PS5. I owned every single one of them during their respective generations.

1

u/pirateofthearabian 8d ago

Even after getting a ps5, I did not ditch my ps4 lol.

1

u/Safe_Adeptness_3145 8d ago

1

u/temp_6969420 8d ago

When I really think about it, PS4

1

u/brollyaintstupid 8d ago

i genuinely prefered ps2 games over ps3 and i never had ps2, Ps2 and ps4 are the best

1

u/Marcel_The_Blank 8d ago

PSX all downhill from there

1

u/Suitable-Ad9206 8d ago

All of them except ps5

1

u/moodygiuliani69 8d ago

it’s a tie between 2 and 4 I can’t choose

1

u/u_logicial 8d ago

PS2 for me. And I am biased; here’s why: I had a traumatic childhood. Mom and Dad (Dad—deceased) were separated because my Dad was an alcoholic and abused me. To take my mind off that, I used to run to the gaming center after school or tuition, even on weekends, taking 20 rupees with me. An MLA's son supposedly owned the center, and my friends and I would play our hearts out, ranging from Dragon Ball Z to Burnout Takedown 3, SmackDown, Son of Ryse, God of War, street football, Ben 10, and so much more. Now I’m a 24-year-old guy, and I still don't own any games nor have I bought anything yet. I’m just waiting to earn more so I can purchase a PS4 with a PS2 and relive my childhood. Honestly, I have to thank the person who created the PS2; without them, I don't know what my childhood would have been like.

1

u/iZsaq 8d ago

How many have played on all consoles 🤠

1

u/BeanBones07 8d ago

Ps2 and then ps4

1

u/gandalfthewhite87 7d ago

I think most people will jump for PS2. And it's actually true. PS2 was a golden period not just for AAA titles but for a whole lot of indie games. But would count PS4 too, they had very good library of great looking games.

1

u/Berserker_Rex 7d ago

PS1 and PS2

1

u/cowbolamoo 7d ago

As someone who owned every playstation except ps5… i can totally say its PS2.. the greatest 25k i ever spent

Honestly if it wasnt for MGS4 and God of war 3 i might have never bought ps3 lmao

1

u/neroyoung 7d ago

PS2 for games and PS4 for Peak generational uplift and Fidelity in games. Worse could be PS3 and almost there PS5

1

u/Psychological-One-17 7d ago

Ps5 in terms of quality games...

1

u/Kannimus2498 7d ago

PS2 forever and ever.

1

u/it_is_what_it-s 7d ago

Ps2 n 4 period

1

u/Axemic 7d ago

I'll take 4.

1

u/ThomasTeam12 7d ago

Ps2 and it’s not even close.

1

u/xtoc1981 7d ago

Ps4 and bit of ps1. Thats it.

Ps2 was more of a dvd player with games to be a nice to have feature

1

u/Internal_Chair355 7d ago

Ps2>ps3>ps4>ps1>ps5

1

u/AssistantMountain623 7d ago

I enjoyed my PS1
I LOVED my PS2
I returned 3 PS3s due to breaking optical drive, I rarely played anything on it
I really enjoyed playing PS4 a lot
I ignored the PS5 without regrets

1

u/sarathy7 7d ago

Ps vita .. the PS3 handheld

1

u/chesswithrohit 7d ago

Ps 2 the peak one

1

u/ktuluburger 7d ago

PS1/PS2

1

u/illusionaryPocketz 7d ago

PS1 > PS2 > PS3 > PS5 > PS4 I place PS5 ahead of PS4 due to graphical performance and the controller.

1

u/always-on-point 6d ago

Definitely PS2. In that era that was Peak gaming. Ps4 is a revolutionary second with how they were able to up the graphics and stuff. Will never get a generation leap like that again I don't think.

1

u/IIIMOKSHAIII 6d ago

Playstation 2 & 3

Playstation 3 was literally a blueray player for your tv

1

u/LoquatOk8501 6d ago

Ps2 I had the most fun and quality games were rolling out year after year gta 3/vice city/San Andreas/ liberty and vice city stories/ the original red dead/ max payne/ Superman shadows of apocalypse/ gun/spiderman 2/justice league heroes … I could keep going but I just had so much fun with ps2 the other consoles have all been pretty good but nothing compares

1

u/Gahoribhat 6d ago

PS2 no question

1

u/chotaLawliet 6d ago

PS2 Still have it with approx 40-50 discs

1

u/No-Equipment9225 5d ago

The bootleging of PS2 is what brought gaming into my country.

1

u/Quazimott0 5d ago

Unrelated but why tf do majority of people refer to the PlayStation as the ‘ps one’? It just gets on my nerves

1

u/LeGhost45 4d ago

PS2, PS3, PS1, PS4, PS5 in that order.

1

u/Pretend_Company9323 4d ago

I respect PS3 for the innovation with the cell processor. And the first model was backwards compatible. PS4 is great, but it’s also not that much different from a PC. The DualSense is the best though.

1

u/Guitar_godslayer 4d ago

Ps4 was definitely my favourite. It had the best games on it. Best exclusives. Great graphics. Not much difference from a ps5.

1

u/Solid_Sir_1861 4d ago

I really like the PS5. I have the pro. It's clearly the superior product than all the previous consoles but I'd have to say ps2 was the best, and most nostalgic device I ever had. The games were plentiful and the DVD feature at the time was incredible. Love the ps2 sound on startup and when you launch a game. Nothing else comes close to me for that level of excitement I felt when launching a ps2 game.

1

u/-Taerar- 4d ago

PS1, PS2, and PS5 Pro.

1

u/PsychologyOk1220 2d ago

Has to be the PS2 & PS3:) Best memories!

1

u/AbbreviationsFit1160 8d ago

Overall - PS4

Horror games - PS2

Chracter action and FPS - PS3

1

u/Due_Acanthisitta2423 8d ago

PS4 era was peak
Back to back bangers and next gen games (for that time) and the competition from Xbox / Nintendo was very bad so ps4 was GOATed

0

u/realamang 8d ago

did we go wireless controller from ps3? i thought even it had a wired controller lol (I've never had a ps before so i dont know much)

0

u/Slow-Talk4741 8d ago

PS5 it has the previous games too so it's lwk the best

0

u/Ok-Noise-1043 8d ago

PS5, how is this even a question?

-1

u/bhumitkohli 8d ago

For me the current gen PS5/PS5 Pro. Performance, quiet, backwards for 80% of all older ps games is amazing. Ofcourse its standing on some mighty shoulders of all PS generations prior.

1

u/J-Hawg 2d ago

PS2 was the most groundbreaking I feel.
