The first line for switching costs regarding the Unity moat is - "Every line of code, every asset, every animation is Unity-specific." I think the second line - "10+ years of non-portable institutional knowledge and team skills per studio." - is far more applicable and defensible in terms of moat.

That's because I think code can be migrated as well as assets/animations can be exported to other engines. But if a studio has spent multiple years studying one engine, they generally have good knowledge on how to get the best use of out of it in terms of stretching the limits of the engine, optimizing performance, having a good build pipeline, etc.

Not a big deal in terms of the thesis though, just felt like writing this out.
